A high-flying adventure from the magic of Steven Spielberg, HOOK stars Robin Williams as a grown-up Peter Pan and Dustin Hoffman as the infamous Captain Hook. Joining the fun is Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell, Bob Hoskins as the pirate Smee, and Maggie Smith as Granny Wendy Darling, who must convince the middle-aged lawyer, Peter Banning, that he was once the legendary Peter Pan. And so the adventure begins anew, with Peter off to Neverland to save his two children from Captain Hook. Along the way, he rediscovers the power of imagination, of friendship, and of magic. A classic tale updated for children of all ages, HOOK was nominated for five 1991 Academy Awards® including best visual effects. - Кино
“Give me my dignity. You took my hand… you owe me something.”
I love this line because Hook would never have said it to the child version of Peter Pan he knew before.
Misses the point about why he has the hook. Because the crocodile took it and since the Crocodile has a clock inside him it's basically time already has a hold of him which is why he's bitter and resentful. Peter see's that and it's his entire motivation for not growing up and just staying as a child.
@@rainyvideos3684 And yet, not entirely. There's a strong implication throughout this entire movie that Hook so fervently blames Peter for everything that's happened to him and goes after him precisely because he's way too afraid to admit that time has a hold on him and he can't remain the strong captain forever. In fact, the first time we see him in he movie, he's drowning his own pirates in boxes for doubting him, and he's having existential struggles through the entire movie.
And child Peter never would have given Hook that dignity. As an adult, Peter understands and acquiesces, and even shows mercy.

Oh man way back in the day I had a dream where I was watching this movie and instead of giving him back his hair, he just stabbed him in the chest without saying a word. Then all the lost boys leaped on him and ate him alive like piranhas while Peter stood there with this crazy Joker grin on his face. I don't know what prompted that dream but it's stuck with me this whole time.
7:00. "thank you for believing" no, Robin........thank you for making us believe, you are and will be forever missed.😢

This is even more heartbreaking, knowing that Robin Williams is really gone. I nearly shed a tear when thud says, *"... don't leave us Peter. And don't say goodbye."* I can relate. Always thought Dustin Hoffman's performance as Hook was perfect. Caracter acting at it's best.
This Hook almost seemed like it paved the way for Captain Jack Sparrow.
For me it was a strange cast. Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook. Robin Williams as Peter Pan but it was an amazing cast and my favourite actors. They all did there roles really well. That why I alway say this Peter Pan film was my favourite and I always rewatch it from time to time.
As a kid I thought Capt Hook's character was so convincing. I actually had a few nightmares.
I haven't thought about this movie in years and I never even knew that it was Dustin Hoffman who played Hook.
His character was definitely convincing, idk how you didn’t know it was Dustin Hoffman though lol
@@nateebanks I was 5 years old when this movie came out. Never came back to it as a teen or adult.
It’s not like the Disney version of Peter Pan
It actually could be one of Dustin Hoffman's best performances ever.
@@robtru84 because in this version Peter Pan was an adult
From what I have heard, none of the young actors playing the Lost Boys knew who was going to receive Peter's sword and mantle of leadership. The young man playing Thud's reaction was as real as it gets.
When looking at it now, I think the blonde boy was older. He should have received the sword.
Fucking A man
Not so
Bollocks
I must have been tricked into watching the avengers cuz this is cap
Im kidding chill
“You know that place between sleep and awake? That place where you still remember dreaming?”
It’s such a genius way for hook to go. it’s not gory or to intense for kids, but it’s slightly creepy and lets people use their imagination fill in the blanks of how he just kinda disappeared.
My favorite part was the belch. It was like "At last!"
My favorite theory is ghost croc. The clock was haunted the whole time.
I legit thought that was the croc and it had just somehow been petrified by Hook. That’s why it moved when he broke the “skin”.
if i remember well i read that the croc was to be cgi animated when he "wakes" but had to be scrapped for budget
@@ginonovanta i legit was thinking about this today. But my mind was like "ok crocs dead Hook said so himself. But if he dead how was he to eat hook, and if that was the case why didn't he start going after the kids to eat next"
Robin Williams is living the ultimate adventure. As another villain said death is only the beginning. He only started his adventure leaving this life for another.
The mummy quote?
What I love about Peter Pan is that I always forget that we were once this playful and everything we imagined was real to us- this story always reminds me that I can still create my own world. Robin Williams was the perfect actor for this because of how he lived his life. When Peter says “I can’t stay and play. I’ve done what I had to do but now I have to go back.” is such a somber statement of how he left us too soon. I feel as though Robin would’ve also said “Thank you for believing” if he had the chance to give us a proper goodbye. Don’t let your inner child down :)
RIP, Robin Williams, the REAL Peter Pan!
"Thank you for believing."
Thank you for making us believe. R.I.P. Robin.
The set design in this movie was on another level. Absolutely beautiful.
God rest you, Robin. You were a true genius of your arts.
It's too bad he's not here to watch his movies or perform comedy or act
"Thank you for believing"
This one will always gets me there and will never be forgotten, no matter how old I'll get😢💔
This hit me harder than it should. It’s beautiful and sad at the same time.
“And thus, with James S. Hook gone, forevermore it was another victory for Peter Pan and the lost boys. But unfortunately it was time for Peter to go home with his children, he couldn’t stay and play. But he left Thudd in charge of the boys, and the boys wanted him to stay but he couldn’t. And they watched sadly as he left back to England before their very eyes… remember children, Neverland is very real, and so are the fairies living there today. You can go if you really believe…”
"First star to the left, then straight on til morning!"
"You killed Rufio, you kidnapped my children, you deserve to die...."
"BANGARANG!"
All memorable lines.
*Second star to the Right
Hook: scared
Lost Boys : curious
Pan : shocked.
Jack : oh yeah this is gonna be good!!! 😅
Two legends and both of them nailed there roles
I don't know why YT thought I needed to be reminded that this movie exists, but I'm glad it did. I needed to see this right now. This moving holds a special place in my childhood. I loved every flying scene, because I've always wanted to fly like Peter Pan. This movie hits different now that I'm an adult, but it still has the power to take me back to being a kid.
"Thank you for believing." Their belief in him brought him back to who he truly is from being lost. Because they wouldn't give up on him, they saved him, and that let him save his family.
Robin Williams is Peter Pan. Thank you for adding this piece to who we are when we were kids, because we still carry it. He is missed.
sometimes ,even now, we still want to fly.
Hook was my favorite character in this movie. It's theme is self discovery, and Hook was the only important character who knew who he was and what he wanted from beginning to end.
Well, there's a very good reason why the movie is named after him.
Captain Hook's last words, "I want my Mommy" haha 😄 😆 😂 🤣
*mummy
Like Peter daughter said he had no mother, that is why he said "I want my mommy".
I remember watching this as a kid and thinking "give the sword to Thudbutt!". I was so happy when he got it!
I love how Peter wants only a fair fight, so after he disarms Hook, he gives him back his sword.
Peter grew up.
I have never in my life seen Dustin Hoffman play a bad part before, he really done an amazing job playing the role of Captain Hook 👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪
THIS is my Peter and Hook. F Peter and Wendy.
I'll never forget Robin Williams I watched most of his movies and I love almost all of his movies.
Can we all just acknowledge how The Crocodile just came back to life to fulfil his purpose of eating Hook

"that was a great game" god i love this movie
This movie and Fox's "Peter Pan & the Pirates" cartoon had the best two versions of Captain Hook when I was a kid. Able to be charming, funny...(and kind, when it suited them) but also clever, cruel, and DEADLY.
A true masterpiece. Unlike anything out there today. Unfortunately, it was not appreciated during its initial release.
It wasn’t??! But it’s a genius film!!!
Correct, it was panned by contemporary critics. I loved it and still do especially John William's soundtrack
We often forget just how good Dustin Hoffman was as Captain Jas. Hook in this movie. Excellent portrayal....
Born in 87 and watched from 93ish, loved it, every character is still etched on my memories.
Just watched again, probably since 20 years, seeing it through an adults eyes is telling of what we have gone through.. right? Peace ☮️ love ❤️
Robin Williams is still and always will be missed
I love the brief theme when Thud is handed the sword. Truly underrated moment.
Like Peter Robin never really grew up...he was a child at heart as he called his stand up "playing."
A MASTERPIECE
R.I.P. Robin Williams
We miss your so much❤️❤️❤️
I think The croc had some unfinished business with Hook and the belch said finally it's finished
Tinkbell didn't even get a "thanks" for saving his life! Just "Tink, now do this, make my kids glow".
6:26-6:31 classic Robin Williams humor.
God I miss this actor. This was movie night have been panned by critics but man it is Definitely underrated masterpiece
One of my favourite John Williams scores
Robin Williams 1951_2014 REST in peace 💔 ☹️
“Thank you for believing.”
It tears at my heart that Robin Williams said that. Truly tears.
This movie has a GOLDEN place in my childhood
Loved this movie as a kid when it came it and still watch it today every time it comes on.
Throughout my life Peter Pan has always held a special meaning for me, the story matured .As did I.
“That was a great game” and “Thank you for believing”. Just effin awesome.
We'll always be Robin's lost boys 😭
Today I finally learned that the crocodile ate Hook the same way that the Lost Boys were eating dinner earlier in movie.
Better than the Disney live-action remake, in all regards.
Yes
This is the only Peter Pan movie I need!
I think it's interestinng that Spielberg doesn't consider this film one of his best
Whereas so many people look on it as the defintivie version of peter pan next to the disney animated film
Jason Issacs is a close second but dustin hoffmans hook has been the number one i envision when i think of the character thanks to this film
As well as all the meaning behind it
that lost boys theme with the flute and harp is outstanding
Hello! Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock. Hook is afraid of an ordinary clock ⏰️. I think not! I think Hook is afraid of time ticking away!
Looks like the crocodile finally finished the job!
Beautiful scene between Dustin and Robin. Looking at them today-years later. I cannot believe both these actors have been famous leading ladies. Dustin as Tootsie and Robin as Mrs Doubtfire. Brilliant thanks for the memories and proud scene moments, storyline.
One of my favourite versions of Peter Pan
Hook is the best Peter Pan adaptation in my own opinion. I'm 26 years old and this movie still makes me cry like crazy.
@@ianpeine5697 I'm a sucker for the 2003 version of it as welll. And have the disney version as well . I have all three now in my movie collection lol

Oh Robin Williams, you were one of my favorite actors growing up. We still miss you to this day. RIP sir.
He's with Michael Jackson now, in never never land, where there are only boys to play with- no pun intended!
1:04 Captain Hook's Hair is gone is The Actor Dustin offman
I like the triumphant and heroic trumpets when Hook states "What would the world be like without Captain Hook." Makes it almost seem like he's had a change of heart or concedes to beating beaten.
The belch at 3:38 lol
I love how peter pan tells the lost boys that he came back 2 neverland to save his children from captain hook & peter pan told tinker bell to sprinkle fairy dust on his kids & peter tells Jack & maggie in order to fly they have to think happy thoughts & peter says thanking you for believing to the lost boys b4 he flys back to London & goes back to being an adult peter again
Its weird that Hook is afraid of time passing even though he's in Neverland, where time doesn't pass.
For him time passed, because he was no longer a child. The fear of clocks was a manifestation of his fear of losing to time.
That crocodile would be CGI today.
Man, Robin Williams was so talented, wish I'd knew him. Would have tried to help him by just being a friend. 😢
If only Williams weren't so extremely depressed.
@@KEN-1991 Watched mrs doubtfire the other night, was a well acted out film thanks to Robin! His talent with voices is incredible!
R.i.p Robin williams & Bob hoskin both died in 2014.
this was the only Peter Pan movie that I ever liked. it was perhaps much better than people actually thought it was back then.

Hot tears running down my cheeks remebering those adventoures times with this great actor.
Magical how connected you feel to marvellous acting and a great story, as a kid, and even as an adult as well. This is a very well done job. I am greatly shocked about it.
36 years old and having a loud beating heart and burst into tears of joy remembering a time where no smartphones or computers ruled our lives. I remember there was a landline phone in my parents house.
That was the nineties, life was on. After seeing this, I went outside into the wide fields and the forest being a lucky flying kid in neverland. How wonderful I could flee from hard times even as a kid imagination pushes you further into a new personality.
Very great lesson Robin. Thank you.
Would love to see adults who listen to what the kids are saying. Thank you for the big lesson´s you teached us, and still teach to those who pass this on to their children.
Hugs, many hugs. :)
Blessed to know this from childhood on. I can´t believe it´s 30 years passed by when I saw this the very first time. Very precious.
Robin was like Peter as he was like a child and just liked having fun.
3:25 - I was not expecting that to happen. I did not see that coming
Aaaand I'm sobbing 😭
One of the best movies made by Disney
Rest in peace Robin weillims
“Williams.”
This ending raises so many questions.
In an era where we got 35 Marvel movies its a shame we never got a sequel to this masterpiece where a new villain shows up and Thud has to reach out once more for Pan's help
To be fair, this version isn't Disney. I believe it was TriStar Pictures(a child company of Sony) who distributed it, and it was Amblin Entertainment who produced it(founded and run by Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, and Frank Marshall. So it wouldn't have made a difference if there were 35 marvel movies, they were done by Disney, with cooperation from Sony for the Spiderman movies(since Sony still owns him)
no i think somethings are better off one and done. not everything needs to be a franchise and this is a beautiful stand alone film
I agreed with this for the longest time, but as I've gotten older, I think that would've been a disservice to the message of Peter Pan. There are no sequels in life. You won't ever be a kid again, won't ever be young again, won't ever be a father to young kids again. Life is full of singular moments of time that you either realize and fully enjoy, or look back and wish would happen again. As corny as it sounds, live each day as that day, because come tomorrow, it'll be gone
A Peter Pan movie with a villain other than Hook? No thanks.
This movie is arguably the best end for the Peter Pan mythos.
I still cry when I see this movie. Everything Robin Williams touched turned to gold! To the current generation you missed out on actually good actors for the indefinite future!! Sucks to be you.
Jack:"Bad Form!"
Lost Boys:Jack, Stop✋️!"
Peter:"Now We End This?"
Captain Hook is afraid of clocks.
I just fucking love the music when the Lost Boys pull out all those clocks to scare Hook. The bells and chimes could so easily sound silly and Mickey-Mouse-y but it's just so epic
Robin weillims you sill r the best in the world xx
Much better than this Peter and Wendy crap
Unlike that reboot, Hook is a diverse movie done right.
The only thing lacking in this 1991 film were the Indians, Cher casted as a grown-up Tiger Lily would've also gained praise and recognition.
One of the Lost Boys played Luke in The Witches too.
