- When you're a young driver looking for a ride, receiving a phone call from Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a pretty big deal. Keselowski remembers exactly where he was. It led to a pretty unique relationship with Pops Eury, too.
Listen to the full Dale Jr. Download on all major podcast platforms.
Imagine if Jr had gotten DEI like he should’ve. Would’ve been a badass 3 car team of Dale Jr Truex Jr and Keselowski
And everyone would be saying the only reason he was successful was because of his father's company. Starting his own and being his own man is exactly what needed to happen.
Imagine Chase Elliott at DEI
@@FlyinBlaney and believe it or not danica would've eventually drove for him if she still wanted to try nascar. But he wouldn't have moved her up so quick like she was she would've had 2-3 more years of nationwide (at the time) and would've been more prepared coming to cip
That was the end game
@@timothylites3653 Danica Patrick became the most successful female race car driver in auto racing history, including NASCAR.
I love how Dale Jr. always brings out the best in his guests. There is never a bad interview on The Dale Jr. Download!

Brad and Martin laid the groundwork for JRM to go on to be extremely successful. Biggest middle finger to Teresa and I love it.
I always like Bad Brad. He can actually drive and is never afraid to speak his mind.

Old friends hanging out. This was Dale Jr’s first successful driver. It was the start of a second tier empire
i think you forgot about truex jr
@@Starzcraft88 Yeah but Truex was technically Chance 2. Kez was probably the guy the kept JRM alive long enough for it to survive.
@@BurnNotice2023 the difference between chance 2 and jrm was pretty much only the name
Kuma III I honestly thought Truex was with DEI at the time
@@mitchellrussavage6033 Chance 2 was DEI's Busch Series team, when JR and Teresa were beginning to split JR created JRM (or morphed JRM) into his Busch series team
Brad’s father, Bob- was a very close friend of my Dad. We were beyond elated to see Brad flourish at the highest level. He’s not just a world-class driver but a student of car setup, physics and engineering. A genuinely good dude…
Brad is always very well spoken. Probably one of the more intellectual drivers in NASCAR.
Brad Keselowski gets too much hate.
He's a little over aggressive on restarts and blocking, but I 100% agree other than that. Brad's a true champion.
The Gamer Boy And I don’t understand it. The drivers of old would have liked his aggressive driving as that’s how they drove. Brad K gives it 120% every race.
@@chadedwards7689
Hes a fake champion
Not enough hate
Doodle Bob you’re garbage.
Dale man, I'm so glad that despite losing pops, you kept one foot in front of the other. I guaranty every time he looks down, he's grinning ear to ear.
I met Brad while in the Navy at Dover. He showed up at the tent and signed anything that was shoved in his face. The Navy used him as a recruiting tool and he was a great one.
I see a lot of Dale Sr. in Dale Jr. at this stage of his life.
I see someone who has become even more than his father...if that is possible. I bet Sr would agree with me.
@@juddjohnson5200 Dale Sr, is the ONE guy, who just should have made it beyond the track and into the booth, or some form of media. I feel like we got robbed out of all the stories, insights, knowledge and humor he could have brought to ANYTHING he might have pursued in his post racing career era. How great it would be, if he was still around, to hear him telling stories from a time ago, ...that he might even have been able to extend that feeling of racing that nascar used to have, ...just by being present.
@@kidwave1 Or better yet, part of NASCAR management.
2Truth4Liberty, Dale Jr became a far better person and a far better dad than his father ever was.
@@juddjohnson5200 One good thing about Dale Sr was that he insisted that his children learn to succeed on their own and they all did it.
I liked the early days of Brads career racing at JR Motorsports. Happy to see Jr have him on for old times sake. Good and very entertaining clip!
Brad Keselowski has been my favorite driver since 2007. Good to see him on the Dale Jr Download.
I love Brad... he has guts, and the power to speak his mind whenever means necessary...
Man, brad is just such a good guy. Met him at Indy today and he was one of the coolest people I’ve ever met.
Lmfao he just crashed what a terrible driver
These interviews are so uniquely different from any other because of what we as the viewers are seeing, hearing and learning about these drivers, crews, owners and analysts.
There's no other format or channels for that matter, that expose the true personality of these guys/girls.
Junior has become an outstanding host and interviewer.
I can't tell you how many drivers that have been on here that I never really cared too much for but after watching I come away with a completely different view and/or change of heart.
Watching Brad in the nationwide series was a good distraction in the 2009 season. Wish Rick would’ve stayed true to Brad
I'm glad he didn't. Penske is perfect for Brad, and he is now my favorite driver. Would've never rooted for him in HMS cars. He would've been playing second fiddle to Gordon and Johnson, where at Penske he and Joey get the best equipment.
Brad is taking over for Jimmie in 2021.
Hendricks is a crook!
Hendrick let one slip away there
They really didnt have a choice at the time iirc.
@@JerBuster77 Tell Mark to hit the road, the future is here.
Lol he dodged a bullet
@@doodlebob3374 over 30 wins and a championship yeah that's dodging a bullet
Looks like he’ll be back in the fold in 2021
I remember watching Bob keselowski at Mt Clemens speedway back in the 70s Racing with Joy Fair..Jr Hanley..Ray Nece...Danny Byrd and the rest of the big Dogs...those were really the good day's
I grew up watching joy fair at flatrock and toledo
tom mathes....I was fortunate to call Joy my friend as well as his son Mark, Mark was my best friend...we would work on the cars all night until it was time to go to my real job...we all had a great time together....I'll never forget those special days..sadly their both gone now...gone but not forgotten.
Those were awesome days . . . I started lettering Bob Keselowski's late model cars in '83 or '84, all the way up to his first Winnebago sponsored ARCA car. I was working with Charlie newby at the time and we were kind of corporate teammates of Kes. Both running to Chrysler Lebaron's. Kes was running Arrington stuff we were R&D'ing Mopar's, which never could run as good as Kes's stuff. We could make power, but couldn't finish races. Aluminum heads were too soft of an alloy.
Ray Nece was my guy in the 60's and early 70's. All my race cars were orange and white because of him. My mentor lettered his last few race cars. I recently lettered a tribute car his son John put together. Watched Benny Parsons get his start in racing. Larry Lemay, Tracy Leslie, Erv Baumgarten, Charlie Newby, Don Saunders, and of course John Nece. Ray helped me A LOT after my dad died. Did it in such a way, I didn't even realize it. Ray worked for Souter Oil Sales, for a time, which was right behind Keselowski's shop.
I started lettering Joy Fair's cars in 1979, except for a couple when Mark wanted to try something. Spent an Easter Sunday working on Fair's car with him moving the rear axle back 5" on the Cavalier, long story as to why, but it was his comeback from his bad wreck at MCRT. My sister ran his auto repair business for a year or so after he passed, while the family decided what they were going to do with it. She has the red pickup that Joy towed the race car with. Had it repainted and looks showroom new. I've got one of his driving suits, and his last championship trophy from MCRT. I may start thinking of selling this stuff. Things haven't been what they used to be on my disability.
People talk about being part of a racing family, the Mt. Clemens Race Track group still is thanks to guys like Tom Urban, and Bill Barnhart, there is always at least one get together every year. The track's last year was 1985, and we STILL get together.
Sorry to go on, and on, but I think the SE Mich., NW Ohio, area is one of the most underrated areas in short track racing history.Unfortunately, too much is becoming, like too many other areas, history. . .
🏁🏁🏁😫🏆🏆🏆🚗🚗🚗🏁🏁🏁
Jr hanely lol. I am canadian so love that name
@@DDS029 Great look back at the Michigan short track scene from that time period. Two names you forgot that also went on to national prominence were Joe Ruttman and John Anderson. I think Ruttman drove his own cars locally and Anderson drove the Stan Yee 33 if I remember.correctly
I would have to agree that the S.E. MI..and the N,W, Ohio area produced some great short track history from not only the drivers but car and engine builders.
Always liked Brad, he's a good kid.
im 100% on the other side of this. Not sure why but i can not stand him!! He can drive , yes, just something about him i do not like. I wish a had a reason but its just a goofy thing i have with him. Im sure people have this same thought about others that they cant explain....
Dale Jr. does not need to name the bad driver that Tony Sr. worked with. Obviously Danica.
It could be Kelly Bires which is why he was released from that ride
You can never underestimate BK. The man can wheel a car and he doesn't take any guff while he's doing it. When he came up with Jr I knew he was going somewhere. Been following him since he started for Dale. When Mark Martin retired BK has been my driver since full-time. Y'all can say a lot rough stuff about this man but he's got old school in his blood so I'm not sure where the beef comes from. But I've heard it all and will continue follow him. Tony Sr liked him and that says a lot to me.
HM 214, you know, when BK first came around I couldn't stand him. Used to call him some colorful things...but something I'll say about him is...he grows on you. You are correct. He's one hell of a wheel man. He's gained my respect for sure and I don't mind seeing him drive that Mustang up front.
I can't say I cared for BK much at first myself. But that run he made to win his championship, after he busted his foot up, gave me a new found respect for him. You just didn't see guys make a run like that anymore. Sure it was great just to see someone other than Jimmie win for a change, but to do it the way he did, to be the only team running Dodges anymore at that point, it was amazing. And watching him really let loose in the interviews afterwards was nice to see. Or there was the way he battled Marcus Ambrose at Watkins Glen..... That's still one of my favorite finishes. He does seem like a real old school type driver. He's won me over 😀
@@floyd4311
He hasn't grown on me He's just a coward
Still got all my gear. Talked to brad in California for a while in 2010 when he had an autograph session on sat. They had some new gear but i wanted the Adidas stuff he was wearing. Got a lot of jr Motorsports Adidas

The Navy could not expect a civillian to look miltary. If you have not served, never been around military life how can you look like a sailor?
Remember when Brad bashed Dale Jr for not jumping into action after Brads tough wreck in testing a few years ago? I do.
"Jimmie did what Dale didn't"
I just gained a lot of respect for Brad. If Tony Sr liked the boy, you know he's a gooden
I was at the Memphis race when brad and carl got into it great race
Would you be willing to tell some stories of your times at myrtle beach speedway when you started driving? It’s a shame that it’s being torn down and I think dale jr would be the perfect person to step in and save his first track
This is always such a cool ass show. Thanks Dale.
Damn, is Brad old enough to have a driver's license.
Alot of these podcasts have a couple topics and it runs it's time we've heard and read it all....this Jr cast has endless topics...I'd like to see him dig up more older guys that may not be around forever...but either way I listen to this as a floor Tech at a college with beats my time flies by people see me just burst into laughter or even tear up....keep on keepin on JR
Can’t believe I haven’t found this yet. Brad is my favorite driver. Love that man
Love you Brad..your everything Rusty wasn't
Glad to see you two share a moment. I know there was some bad blood a few years back but now it hopefully resided.
It’s funny around this time I remember being friends with Brad on MySpace then my favorite driver hired him
Bruh the Pontiac Firebird is the USAF Thunderbird (Airbase Raceway) Chevy Lumina and Monty Carlo
I hope someday soon I get in the same situation as Brad and get a big break as a driver and get the opportunity of a lifetime to drive for someone that can really get me noticed like Jr.
In this day an age that is a rare and wonderful event. Nowadays there aren't many owners who would take someone they know has talent, but yet no money.
DDS029 I do understand that, but ya only live once, and I’d rather try and fail and be proud of myself, than never try at all to make it happen and just live out the rest of my life thinking “what if”
That’s why a driver is only as good as his chief and team. It really matters about meshing personalities. Seen it with jr in the 88. When they got the right guy he started having 3 and 4 win seasons and championship runs
Would love to see Tony senior on the program
I think Brad got screwed over by jr who is one of Hendricks puppets he was supposed to get the 5 car and didn't get it so he went to Penske.
Matty D needs to be in a JR Motorsports car next season....

So what did Brad do wrong to make NBCSN not air this podcast this week? They went with a rerun of the Dale Jarrett interview instead.

i think this guy dated Danica Patrick, right?
Brad's career really started to take off when he joined JR Motorsports in 2007.
Keselowski is right up there in the same class as Busch , Hamlin , Truex , Chase and the other top guys but Penske just doesn’t have the speed right now.
I was in A school in Great Lakes when Jr "sponsored" a recruit division. They told us we could go meet him if we wanted to but I cannot remember if he did not show up or had to leave early and could not do it.
Hopefully more from Brad when he worked for you.
Dang it I was a minute late 🤦♂️

Great
Id like to see brad win itvall this year
I was at the race he spun out Carl Edwards in Memphis. Fans weren't to happy about that one but it's racing.
He has to wreck people to win
A lot less than Kyle Busch. If Kyle finds himself in the back, he doesn't even give cars a chance to move. He just runs into them.
Such a better interview than the one a couple years ago where he looked drugged out
If anything he was tired. He couldn't say no to anybody until he became a husband and a dad. Come to think of it, it may have been Stella at the time keeping him awake at night. There was another change in him when he closed the truck team and opened K.A.M.. He could have the people he hired run that more.
Thinks,GOD BLESS
