My wife's 2011 500 was rear ended exact same damage. Car was fully drivable but was written off Cat N. It was just the wheelwell was crumpled but overall structure was ok . We took the money but it I saw it was fixed as was passed MOT. just needed a bit of panel work on the well and a new bumper .
Probably worth taking the money and running. It's hopefully not too much of a job to sort out the wheel well and getting a bumper and crash bar, but a garage will charge alot of those I reckon!
That is a cat S all day long! A porta power will get that 95% straight it you push off the rear seat mounts but you have to be very careful not to split the seams for the rear panel. That part of the boot floor is extremely soft you will be surprised how easily that goes straight
I had the opposite problem where I bought virtually the same make and model from Copart as a cat s and believe it or not the only damage was a small ding the size of a five pence piece on the back wheel arch and as a qualified motor vehicle technician I could find no more damage. I even let two more qualified engineers and an mot station look at the vehicle and none of them could find the slightest problem either so with low mileage fsh and immaculate now with the ding repaired I have great vehicle EXCEPT I NOW HAVE TO SELL IT AS A CAT S !!! The saving grace is that I only paid £525 for it plus a new stop/start battery. The assessor’s really need to get their act together 😊
Oh dear, that wheel tub is a bit of a mess, not sure that will bang out sufficiently. Might be better to get a new tub welded in. I;'m just thinking, I imagine you have to drop the fuel tank to do that, not sure about that. Other than that, it's a decent car. I still think they aren't bothering to look at cars or even photos. Any assessor seeing how low that impact was would have to think that it's gone under the rear crasher and done damage to the rear. I would imagine they've just not bothered even seeing a photo.
Also don’t forget to check the pocket on the back of passenger seat, that’s where I shove all the servicing paperwork, invoices etc so others may do the same 😂😂
Its seems a regular thing now, I have had several cars recently from them that should have been Cat S and also damaged by the fork lifts when loading either tyres or steering components damaged
Don't get me started on those fork lifts. I'm not sure if damage to the wheel well is a CAT S now, as some people think it's not structural, so I'm a little confused :)
@@carsalvage101 A recent one I had this year was a 2013 Fiesta I complained to Copart due to the damage which I believe the fork lift did the front wheel was pushed back into the wheel well which was not like that on the sale day, Copart replied saying if the damaged parts will bolt off and on to replace then its a Cat N if its body parts that do not unbolt its Cat S
i bought one of these almost identical for my daughter who is currently learning to drive. The only difference is the Red/Green decal is on the bonet roof and tailgate. They are pretty faded now, have you ever replaced decals like this ?
I'm in the process of taking them off today. One side came off in literally minutes, the other side is staying fast! So I'm hoping a rubber wheel will do it.
I didn't, one side as it literally came off when I peel. I just poured hot water on it. The other side, I've started but need a rubber wheel. I'll record that when it arrives :)
@@carsalvage101 that would be great if you could i would be really interested to see the process and decide if i want to do it to my daughters. Hers is on a 2010 plate but not as faded as the ones on this
@@carsalvage101 maybe another one written off from pictures rather than a proper inspection? I was under the impression cat N is any part that bolts on and cat S is anything integral to the structure of the chassis. I had a corsa written off for a creased wheel well when I was rear ended, eventually someone salvaged it from copart but I was told the price of repair far outweighed the value of the car so I got £1700 from the insurer and picked up another cheapie lol
Similar thing happend to me with a mini Co P .Listed as Cat N ,photos did not show crease in boot floor, ended up having to pay a professional bodyshop £1800 to replace boot floor and lip where tail gate shuts. You can't really get back to factory by pulling, and it is structual,so has to be done properly.Very dissapointed for you,but can't see any profit in that car, with everything that needs doing.
unfortunately Charlie Copart do not categorise the cars, the insurance companies do, Copart merely sell what they are told to even if they suspect it should be a different catergory....it generates them more money as a Cat N car.
Yeh Copart just sell them on behalf of the insurance companies. They don't get involved with categories. If you can get money out of Copart, you are doing very well!

Will give it a go when it's taxed and I can move it. May need a sledge hammer to push it down first.

Nice car ,not so good with hidden damage 👍
Thanks. Hopefully I can sort it!
How did the assessor miss that? Blatantly a cat S all day long!
The bumper definitely had not been removed. But maybe damage to the wheel well isn't structural?!

Maybe do sums on breaking it for your own benefit. But that’s just me.
shame about the wheel well damage Alex, would have been a relatively quick fix. Does it need much for an MOT you think...?...
Surely a solid case of misrepresentation from Copart and full refund?
