    My daughter has taken VIPKID for more than 1 year, I think a brief video introduction is most important.

    Thank you LaShonna - your personality and calm, kind demeanor really appeals to me and has increased my interest in the VIPKID program. Most of the teachers feel wayyyy too animated for my personal comfort. I am upbeat, positive, but like to be my authentic self, which is NOT a goofy animated person. So thank you for sharing this - and your advice is really helpful - have a fabulous day!

    Your voice and presentation of the information is so lovely. I was so calm and focused listening to you. A very welcome change from the OVERLY excited and loud videos of a lot of VIPKid teachers. I think you should continue making videos because there are probably many people like my self that would prefer your videos over other VIPkid ones. You have a market for sure!

    Oh, wow! So glad you gave the tip for Google Translate.
    My original sentence: I have spent time babysitting and tutoring children.
    What it would've said in Chinese: I take the time to take care of and counsel the children.
    Not exactly what I was trying to say! Thanks so much for the tip!

    Thanks for the tips! I'm on week one with only a no show under my belt! I really have a sparse classroom and the reward system is eluding me. I have sparkle pom poms to fit in a jar but no way they can see the jar during the class (it's on my desk) I just need a shelf!

      @lashonnabahr889  6 лет назад

      Barb DeSouza Welcome to the VIPKID club lol! Do you have a wall behind you? I turned my desk in our office so now it's in the middle of the room, but I have a wall behind me to hang reward systems on if I need to. Even if the kids don't see the rewards the whole class, I still think they are effective!

    • @barb7124
      @barb7124 6 лет назад

      I am working on that, very good idea. Can we change our Bio? I ran mine through Google translate and it was gibberish. I would like to change things as I am not getting bookings with the bio/photo I have.

    • @lashonnabahr889
      @lashonnabahr889  6 лет назад +2

      Barb DeSouza yes! You can change your bio on the app. There's an edit button at the top of your bio under your information. I had to run mine through Google a few times to get it sounding decent. I think VIPKID uses Baidu to translate, so you may want to run it through there too. It's slightly different.

    With the company I teach for we get more money during peak hours. So for me opening availability on certain days at odd morning hours or late night hours isn't beneficial. We wont get as much money for the same work at a difficult time ( for example 1 am). Instesd I prioritize opening peak availability. However, if someone can have their availability wide open they will be able to get bonuses every month. For example, if you teach 45 classes you get a bonus, once you teach 100 classes you get an extra 100 dollar bonus etc.
    So I can see the pros for having your availability wide open.

      Hey! Not a silly question at all! Actually, I checked with VIPKID about the whole "first 2 weeks" rumor and they say it's not true. I'm not sure if it was true at some point or not, but they said it's totally up to the parents if you get booked. I'm planning on redoing this video with updated info! 🙂

    Hi LaShonna I need your advice. Is it wise to stick with one online company or should I sign with 2 or more platforms? I am a beginner. I noticed that teachers don't do well at the beginning and their earning go up slowly. How to survive as a starter? Hi, Liana! I'm just now seeing this, but I wanted to address it because this is something I am currently working on! I recommend teaching at 2 or more companies so you don't have "all your eggs in one basket." I have see many popular online teachers recommend the same. I wish you the best in your teaching career!

    Hello! I'd like to ask, isn't the same info from the app accessible from the computer? Mine is on 24/7 and I'm more likely to check that. But if it's absolutely essential to have the app, please tell me what's found there and there alone.

    • @lashonnabahr889
      @lashonnabahr889  6 лет назад +3

      Some announcements can only be viewed on your phone. If you receive a note from your student, you can only see it in the app. You can also set alarms to remind you about your next class. I find it easy to fill in feedback on my phone using voice to text. It's not mandatory to have it, but it makes your teaching experience better!

    • @lashonnabahr889
      @lashonnabahr889  6 лет назад

      One of the requirements is a bachelor's degree, but if you've been teaching for a while without one, I would go ahead and apply since it doesn't cost anything! If you aren't accepted, you can always reapply later if you decide to get a bachelor's. There are definitely other good teaching companies that don't require a bachelor's though! 🙂

    I’m 23 days in. I did not completely open up my schedule as you suggested. I have taught about 26 student so far, which is better than some but I want to have a full workload. Do you think it’s too late to open my schedule up now that it’s past two weeks. Some people suggest applying again and starting over. Do you know anyone who has tried that?

      What’s the deal with “high energy”?
      Before finding your video, I was mostly turned-off by the [imo, ridiculous level of] energy and stage presence of VIPKID teachers. 😬
      Is it a culture thing that I don’t understand? Are people always supposed to emit that charisma when interacting with young humans?
      Interested in your thoughts. Glad I found you! Will be looking for more videos from you.

    Why is wearing makeup a tip? That is so unnecessary to include as advice. If parents are judging you based on if you're wearing eyeliner and lipstick or not, I don't want them anyways.
