I saw a comment on the Dire Gentlemen video about this episode, suggesting it was a re-used plotline about Angel Dust from Hazbin, who we know from concept art had a Mafia background he tried to escape. Viv responded to fans complain about Millie's undevelopment by saying Helluva Boss is more about its guys, while Hazbin Hotel is more about its galls. This really worries me Hazbin will throw out much of Angel's screentime and shift it across shows to Moxie. Heluva Boss's latest episodes greatly worry me about how Hazbin Hotel will turn out, because the last season set up a bunch of plotlines and antagonists, and they've just been dangling there unresolved.
Yeah I've heard about that tweet and I think its a stupid idea to focus on characters based on gender. Like, they go out of their way to make these characters and then just mainly focus on only part of the cast while leaving others on the sidelines just because of what's in their pants? That's so stupid.
@@aeoifjapefijl Any story will have to focus more on some characters than others, partly because of time and partly because the viewers need to keep everything straight. But Millie is remarkably undeveloped compared to other main characters. Luna has more development, and she's got less screentime. The closest we've gotten to seeing any nuance in Millie's character is in the Striker episode, where we see Millie's parents chide her for not being strong enough to beat Striker in a fight, but Millie feeling she's not strong enough to protect her loved ones has so far never come up again. I sure hope I eat my words in a few months, but given Viv's comments on the matter, I'm worried I won't.
I've been saying the complaint about "Moxie being incapacitated" for months without hearing anyone else say it. I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one.
Moxie and Millie are a toxic couple in my op. They exist only bc of each other and their personalities are defined by their relationship. It’s not just being in love when the co dependency is to a point they don’t have any substance without eachother
I'm getting tierd of the constant sex jokes and innuendos, like seriously I get it funni hah hah but really can't you come up with a joke that's literally not shoveling multiple sex toys in my face? And if this is such a point of abuse in moxxies life why didn't it show up when he was under the influence of the truth serum blitz had every failure in his life confront him all at once while moxxie just complained about his boss and sung about it. The animation maybe getting better in this show but the writing is starting to go down the drain and I'm sick of the infinite simps out there defending some of theses characters I quote "there is no bad characters just bad writing" end quote.
At least she's not of the "I don't need not man" variety or manish (aside from being wrathful and good at killing). Of course, there nothing wrong with a manish, wrathful female character who don't need no man, but I'm concerned writers only know how to make a female character active or developed is to make her less womanly.
At this point, I've just accepted the sex jokes for what they are. It's clear that's what 99% of the shows humor is gonna be, that was obvious from the pilot and I knew what I signed up for when I started watching it lmao. On that note, I actually loved Chaz and thought he was hilarious, kinda the highlight of the episode for me.
Somehow I find it less annoying in this show compared to when other shows do it. I don't know what it is, usually I just flat out don't like these kinds of jokes and just groan when they're done but besides the walldo's and the way Moxxie was cleaning that gun in his flashback about Chaz's relationship with him I don't recall anything off the top of my head that was so in your face. They don't make me cringe and are tolerable in this show when they do and aren't in others. I know Stolas has had a fair few scenes like that but things like him talking to Blitz on the phone and it being bleeped out was actually just kinda funny to me. Especially the one that ended with Stolas just going "jelly sandwiches" out of nowhere.
I don’t like the fact that Millie keeps getting massive wins without any need or challenge. She is my favorite, but that’s because she’s nice and she doesnt always get referenced for sex😭😭(looking at stolas blitz loona and verosika🥰🥰)
I love this episode, Chaz was amazing and I’m kinda glad they killed him off as he would eventually get annoying ( I would like a Milly Flashback. ) Overall 9/10 episode, I really liked how it felt like a Helluva boss episode and not a Stolas and Blitzø one.
I agree with you about the shows humor becoming lazier. My worry is that while they made a potentially interesting enemy there are a lot of enemies from s1 who STILL havent shown up and these are just starting to feel like loose ends now, I know the show had some issues with delaying an episode but I just don’t have that much faith all the past villains will get their time in the sun etc. Still it was a nice episode, this probably is one of my favorites although there are a couple of s1 eps that stand high above the rest of the series rn, while millie’s treatment is still pretty bad and the humor had some misses i think the episode overall came together nicely and had enough cool moments. Just coming to accept the show isnt going to be as great as i was hoping it could be. I didnt like hazbin hotel pilot as much so im really hoping the hazbin show delivers a lot more than its pilot, the overall style and animation quality are great but we can have something better than that and better than hb rn.
@@vanitymoth Also planned on telling you this but forgot: The episode is like “Gay! Gay stuff! Funny!” When it actually isn’t. Moxxie, a married man is just tryna get away from Chaz, and back to his wife. (Btw someone else pointed this out when I shared my opinion in that one official community post about Helluva Boss.)
12:11 This helped me to complete why I think this is the worst episode so far. Everything is so stupid, and they want us to take it The drama, the songs, the tension. Everything is so stupidly a v e r a g e . I know that what I'm going to say sounds contradictory as a fan of this series, but I think I will never take seriously a furry. Everything is just so cheap comedy, but takes away so much production, improvement and time. Just that sometimes the plot has really good stuff to offer. Anyways, nice video, voice was on point.
Honestly I have to disagree with the idea this episode was good- For me this marked the downward spiral, as I was able to look past some of the previous episodes' flaws, but this episode alone really did ruin my investment in the show, and left me unable to enjoy the episode afterwards as much as I probably should've. I have to agree with other people's criticism that letting Moxxie stand up to his dad- Only for it go to nowhere, kinda felt weird, really. I get it was probably to show how strong the mafia was but in reality it just kinda made it pointless and have no payoff. But I can brush that aside, somewhat. Along with Millie's lack of development, my biggest issue was the constant jokes during this episode. It absolutely destroyed the tone and it sucks because I thought I might find the plot really interesting, but it's hard to get invested and far easier to get frustrated and annoyed when every serious moment is intercut with stupid out-of-place jokes. And, as side note, the action segments of the show aren't as interesting to me anymore knowing that's most of what Millie does as a character. Maybe it's just me but they haven't been good at building up stakes lately, every time a fight happens I just don't care because I know it's gonna be fine, Millie's just gonna kill whoever's in their way. (Along with the others, but it is typically Millie that does most of the work.)
I'm a Moxxie fan so this would probably be one of my favourite episodes. But I do have to admit I would have rather had a Moxxie vs Crimson scenario but meh I don't mind. 18:18 yup have to completely agree on your statement
I personally liked the episode, as only criticism I have the one you presented as well about Millie. Vivzie tried to come out with a defense/attack about it on Twitter, but it honestly didn't convince me much. I also have a suggestion for future videos: you dedicated the first 6 minutes to basically make a summary of the episode, but I personally feel you made it a bit too long. If someone already saw the episode, it's boring to listen to someone telling what happens in it in every little detail for several minutes, if not necessary to the economics of the video. If you want to keep doing a sum up of the episodes, I suggest you either keep them much shorter (around a couple of minutes at max) or you make your point/criticism _while_ you explain what happened in the episode.
Thank you for the feedback. Could you point out anything I mentioned in the summary that felt unnecessary or that I could have cut out? Should I keep doing the summaries at all or are they redundant since it's more than likely that people who click on the video already saw the episode?
@@vanitymoth Let's see... I'm rewatching it right now, and honestly it seems redundant for basically the most part. For example, the fact you mention that Crimson sends them an helicopter to pick them up and bring them there; when you say "Moxxies says, Blitzo responds, then Moxxie replies, et cetera", which seems more like a school essay for how it's phrased; and in general, the explanation of the events of every little scene for the rest. If your intent was to be like Roundtables and similar, as to say to dissect every detail of every episode, bring up curiosities, lore hints, character moments and stuff, it could be viable, but your goal is to make more of a commentary and talk about the episode quality, bringing up both what you liked and didn't like. So yeah, simply explaining what happened in the episode, with no commentary on it, for an important chunk of the video, can feel unnecessary. As I said, you could still keep the summary part (albeit a little less full of pointless details) if you _integrated_ it with the criticism. Kinda like the Nostalgia Critic, Cynical Reviews and others do: while you say what happened in the episode, you stop commenting and expanding about certain points that you want to talk about in the review. Otherwise, just skip the summary part and jump directly to the theme of the video, after a brief introduction. After all, as you said, it's more than likely that whoever clicked already watched the episode, and considering the framing of the video (a commentary/critic one), they would probably be more interested in hearing that rather than a retelling of the episode.
@@InazumaSensei Thanks a ton for the feedback. I might give a summeryless review a go in a future video. Maybe not the next one but I have a couple of videos in early development and it would save me a lot of time. Feedback like this is exactly what I need, I’m kinda just winging it here ^-^
I think this episode was terrible. We have another episode about Moxxie’s character arc about learning to be stronger for like the 4th time and it gets overshadowed by really bad sex jokes that undermine everything and Millie being too O.P but lacking in character development. Blitz and Millie shouldn’t have been in this episode at all and Chaz plan makes no sense at all. Also, Moxxie’s birthplace was retconned in this episode from Wrath to Greed. (I don’t care about the tweet they made addressing it, it’s still damage control for inconsistent writing).
He did, his mum is from Wrath and his dad is from Greed. Most people are going with Moxxie being born in Wrath before his mum properly moved in with his dad in Greed, and since he hates everything to do with his dad he uses his mums ring as his place of origin when people ask where he's from.
i'm glad the next two episodes will get us some pay off. EP4 will finally be about striker assassinating Stolas + Stolas Relationship with someone other then blitz (millie and moxxie this time)
After two episodes where the pacing is way too fast and feel cluttered trying to fit many things in one episode, the new one felt like a breath of fresh air, the pacing feels more like season one and it doesn't feel cluttered(or at least not as cluttered as the previous ones), the whole episode in general feels very season one, I rlly hope they keep making episodes like this
I know that a lot of commentator videos say that Moxxie clinging to Blitz in the jail scene solely because he mentioned Loona makes no sense, but if you think about it it absolutely highlights exactly why they both cling to each other years later. On paper they're the same, they come from abusive homes where only their mothers loved and cared for them, and then their mothers were gone and it left them with fucked up dads who only used them. When Blitz mentioned Loona, showing how much he cared for his kid, Moxxie saw the father he wish he had or maybe even how his mom used to treat him. And it makes sense why Blitz clings to Moxxie and Millie in Helluva because it might be the kind of relationship his parents had (still wondering how Blitz's mom ever got with Cash in the first place) but more likely the kind of relationship he wishes he could have.
So, yet again, a lot of issues people have with the show stem from the fact that the episodes are releasing so slowly, because it's independent. Like, the fact that Chaz got so much screen time in this episode wouldn't be too much of a problem if we could just watch the next few immediately after and learn more about Millie's backstory and the greed ring and all that stuff. I totally get how it can be frustrating to wait for episodes and want to pick apart each individual bit of content we get even though the season isn't all out yet and we haven't seen the full story come to fruition, but I personally feel like that's a negative outlook to have. I liked this episode. Not the best, but I wouldn't call it "infuriating". Like, when I see that scene with Millie killing all those shark guards, I don't look at that and think "Oh my god why are the showrunners not doing anything new with Millie's character" I think "Oh. Cool. A fun action scene. Nice." Us as fans have had so much time to think about this show that it's felt like an eternity without Millie getting any major focus. Even though the show has only technically released like... Ten episodes. So I look forward to the episodes when we see all the follow-ups and character moments we want as fans, and I don't hold it against this one for not including them. Because I know they're coming. I mean, it's basically been confirmed by all the teasers we've gotten.
My overall thoughts were that this episode tried to do something but just ended up empty. Crim is a decent one off villain, but he's pretty boring as a long-term villain. And honestly hes kinda hard to take seriously when steven horvitz is doing a silly gangster voice. Chaz is an ok character. He fills his purpose but hes really just a walking plot device and doesnt do much despite all the advertising he was given. Making him Millies ex didnt add anything, and nothing is changed if you remove it. I dont get why he had that moment where he looked sorry for leaving Moxxie behind if that was also gonna go nowhere. I thought maybe that was gonna lead to him getting some sort of redemption. But no. He just gets a diIdo in his mouth and killed offscreen. Millie is just Moxies loving wife like shes been in every damn episode. Blitz just sits around and does nothing too. The only contribution he does in the entire episode is expose chaz and have sex with him. Moxxies mom barely has a character and is also killed offscreen in a flashback. And moxxie goes though the same arc for the 100th damn time. In all honesty, i feel like chaz and crim should've swapped fates. Crim is out of the picture and resolves moxxies arc by having moxxie be the one to kill the gangsters and crim. As crim's heir, moxxie puts chaz in charge instead. The final shot is crim's' horns being put on the wall for a change surrounded by his prior victims
Well, these last two episodes' humor DID FEEL more immature and kinda too focused on gay stereotypes, it even felt mocking, I have this feeling the writter isn't even bisexual as he says, he gives me the straight ally vibes, bc all of a sudden yassified Stolas and the excess of dildos were a thing... Those are things we really didn't need on this show, I really liked the absence of sexuality preferences labels until this writer made his debut... IDK, it feels like Vivzie likes to please so much she'd go against her own original energy to make certain people happy and I'm hating that, I wish she noticed how the bar is going down by accepting certain suggestion other people makes to her. Because it's pretty obvious the dildo jokes didn't come from her, I dare to say her writting is smarter and more interesting, but she's probably overboard of work and doesn't have much time to decide and think clearly...
If you don’t like the humour in the latest episodes, that’s fine. But to accuse the writer of lying about or being wrong about their own sexuality without any proof is incredibly disrespectful.
...are you really assuming and placing a sexuality on someone because of the "vibes" they give off? And you're the one talking about sexual orientation stereotypes? Gross.
I think the House of 1,000 Dildos joke was more about calling biphobes out on calling us bi/pansexual folk either gay or "confused", and less about actually trying to be funny Like, it was such a huge breath of fresh air to hear someone openly say theyre bisexual, and that they arent just gay or confused. It's nice
I feel like you're Moxie and I'm Blitzo whenever you bring up dicks being the joke in these things. You: "the only type of person that would like this is Chaz, make of that what you will." Me: "LOL there's dicks in the walls! That's hilarious." First vid where I can see your perspective though.
Ironically, I feel like western adult animation has way less mature humor than a lot of well written children’s media. I think your comments on this show’s humor speaks to this point. I can think of at least five kids shows off the top of my head that I find hilarious, but adult cartoons just don’t tend to appeal to me in this way. It’s almost like adult animation views the novelty of a cartoon character saying the fuck word as a shortcut to writing humor that doesn’t require any actual effort or clever execution.
Exes and Oohs is awesome! Especially with everything in Crimson's mansion that has a Godfather Reference and the whole Mafia Set-up is awesome! Of course I hate Crimson and Chaz because of them being abusive and harassing Moxxie, plus Moxxie's flashback scene is very dark.🤩😨
At one hand I don't like the so called adult toy joke in this episode hell even family guy that make adult toy jokes know how to make it funny and how the new character is killed off like that But on the other hand I'm glad the so called ship isn't in this episode because that was getting old and most importantly at the end it looks like they made a new enemy. Again they are digging themselves in a pit that looks like they can't get out from.
How does the voice audio sound for this one?? Too loud, too quiet, or just right?
Sounds good to me.

i'm glad the next two episodes will get us some pay off. EP4 will finally be about striker assassinating Stolas + Stolas Relationship with someone other then blitz (millie and moxxie this time)
Oh boy. This didn’t age well.
The new episode is probably the worst of the series 💀
@@pluschy7886 it was ok, far from the best ep 1,4 season 1 and pilot still hold title of the worst
After two episodes where the pacing is way too fast and feel cluttered trying to fit many things in one episode, the new one felt like a breath of fresh air, the pacing feels more like season one and it doesn't feel cluttered(or at least not as cluttered as the previous ones), the whole episode in general feels very season one, I rlly hope they keep making episodes like this
And utilizing the characters they made. If Alan is the current main writer for the show he needs to step up his game because this ain't cutting it
I know that a lot of commentator videos say that Moxxie clinging to Blitz in the jail scene solely because he mentioned Loona makes no sense, but if you think about it it absolutely highlights exactly why they both cling to each other years later.
Nice."
Us as fans have had so much time to think about this show that it's felt like an eternity without Millie getting any major focus.
Gross.
I going to say an unpopular truth the world doesn't revolve around stolitz 20:23
I think the House of 1,000 Dildos joke was more about calling biphobes out on calling us bi/pansexual folk either gay or "confused", and less about actually trying to be funny
Like, it was such a huge breath of fresh air to hear someone openly say theyre bisexual, and that they arent just gay or confused. It's nice
I feel like you're Moxie and I'm Blitzo whenever you bring up dicks being the joke in these things.
You: "the only type of person that would like this is Chaz, make of that what you will."
Me: "LOL there's dicks in the walls! That's hilarious."
First vid where I can see your perspective though.
At one hand I don't like the so called adult toy joke in this episode hell even family guy that make adult toy jokes know how to make it funny and how the new character is killed off like that
But on the other hand I'm glad the so called ship isn't in this episode because that was getting old and most importantly at the end it looks like they made a new enemy. Again they are digging themselves in a pit that looks like they can't get out from.
Vivziepop confirmed that chaz will return
