Back then we didn't even notice that, or even critique there facial expressions... because we were all Causel fans and we were all amazed that ( Paul White) from WCW was in WWF facing the Rock.
We didn't know the Ends and Outs of pro wrestling, we didn't even know what botch was or Kayfabe, or pushing a wrestler....we didn't speak that lingo because only pro wrestlers used to use those terms Amongst each other only, the public didn't use pro wrestling terms, they never used the word BOOKING, They didn't even care about who booked what or who booked got booked,...we just watched and got invested and enjoyed for what It was.
People didn't even focus on promos that much back then, they just liked what they heard...we never noticed if any of them broke Character...nobody knew what a breaking character, unless you were a stage actor, theater actor, drama major, or a stand up comedian, no regular person knew what breaking character was, or referred to in pro wrestling because nobody in the late 90's and early 2000's tried being little fake pro wrestling expert's. We watched it for what it was, and watched it week by week.
Social Media made everyone a pro wrestling expert all of sudden and a fake and dirtsheet nerds. 🤦 This makes me miss how pro wrestling was back then, when we still can suspened our imagination, when we still can be shocked and surprised without spoilers everywhere.
Pro wrestling in the 1980's and 1990's and early 2000's, when we were clueless and watched and had fun.
We never said... "Oh you can tell he broke Character."...or Bro Why didn't Michael Cole do this and that, or they should've booked it like this or like that." Ugh it's annoying.
because we didn't pay attention that heard...we were Causel fans or just suspended our imagination, invested in a curtain wrestler...we never cared about indie darlings or Japanese wrestlers.
It was just an extraordinary time to watch pre-social Media.
It was an amazing back then, No Tribalism.
