    I had to make a comment. These guys are doing a great job. Believe me when I tell you it's more difficult than it looks, especially at night under NVGs / NVS. I was the third Longbow deck landing qualified Aviator in the Army. We were tasked in early 2012 to "make it happen" by ARCENT. A lot of work went into it. We landed on two LPDs (USS New Orleans & USS Pearl Harbor) in the Northern Arabian Gulf. The Navy guys were great. We did a lot of work together. Nice video, keep them coming.

      I’m 17 and currently considering going for army aviation, I’m wondering how often Apache pilots fly compared to blackhawks? I heard that the apaches have more maintainence time.

    Great to see regular U.S. Army helicopters operating from Naval Vessels. Although this is not new (The 160th SOAR has done it for many years), regular Army aviators haven’t. Interoperability between all the services is guaranteed to add to our lethality and therefore, grant us victory in the battle space (air, land and the seas).

    The British Army has all of their Apaches qualified for deck landings. There are some physical changes (mostly folding rotors) that have to take place before they can become fixtures on carriers.

      I imagine they would also have to install tie-down points onto the landing gear (standard equipment on all naval aircraft, fixed or rotary-winged) in order to chain the choppers to the deck so they don't go sliding all over the place in rough seas.

      No they don't. All though the Abrams does have a turbine engine not even close to the same size or power output. Abrams is 68 tons and can drive 45 MPH. And that's from personal experience. Apache fully loaded can barely get out the FARP topped off in Afghanistan. Also seen personally as i transitioned to aviation later in my army career.

      For some strange reason, the Army is looking to operate on ship like the Marines do. Marine Corps AH-1Z and UH-1Y can fold their blades for storage on ships. It also makes it easier for transports like C-17 and C-5s to move them around. AH-64 can't fold their blades so its much harder to get them where they need to go. Being able to operate on ships gives them more options but honestly , its takes away from the Marines mission

    • @danielbeckman272
      @danielbeckman272 4 года назад +1

      verdebusterAP you can actually fold the blades on apaches, tho not too common because it is a pain in the booty. Easier to remove them most cases
