- Welcome back to another video on the channel where today I am going to be playing the newest update for Star Wars: A New Beginning which is a mod for Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy which introduces a new story where you get to explore the Jedi academy and complete in a trial to earn your lightsaber as Padawan to Jaden Korr.

Also, that Wedge Antilles Recording in the library was the voice clip that was taken from the Rebel's Campaign in Galactic Battlegrounds, it was the outro for the second to last level of the campaign. Nice little easter egg and world building!
It's a great touch, especially considering I personally love Galactic Battlegrounds. Glad to see another intellect in the comments.

This mod looks indeed promising! I liked what the modder/s have done here, playing with the voice clips into in an immersive dialogue, adding little easter eggs (Like that Wedge Antilles recording we saw here, which by the way that voice clip is from Rebel campaign in Galactic Battlegrounds, another awesome Star Wars video game gem!), making the Academy feel lived it when you explore it with the NPCs being set to certain behaviors (Like sitting in the bar, waiting for an opponent for the duel, struggling with the Force, etc.), small little sidequests (like the duels, training drones, the hermit Jedi Master, that will some times reward you with power ups), and some times little power ups or bonuses where you can come back to at a later date in order to pick them up because you can't reach them just yet. Honestly this Academy Hub segment reminded me so much of the Harry Potter COS the game school grounds hub, and this looks promising and awesome!
and would make for a great blockbuster movie.

I spent a lot of time from 8 to 18 reading the expanded universe. As a socially awkward kid I read almost every book, I devoured star wars. It was meaningful to me. As a matter of fact I purchased most of the books and my collection is several bookcases large. I look at the bookcase from time to time wanting to recreate where my mind went while reading them, like Rogue Squadron infiltrating Coruscant, or the thrawn trilogy, or jedi academy books - The Vong invasion (which I liked quite bit for the mature themes). I go into bookstores and see the new books written and can't bring myself to read them, it feels like a betrayal to the books I loved.
Put simply, maybe I'm not the same person I used to be, but also Disney kind of ruined it for me. They took a mythology I loved and replaced it with "a new look". I wish they could have just stuck to a well established mythos and worked within it, and pay the writers their royalties for the creation of amazing characters - MARA JADE?! come on! a strong female character like that would have would have been eaten up fans. or Kyle Katarn? I liked rogue one - but HE stole the death star plans in a one man assault. That could have been the first R Rated star wars action movie - The graphic novel of dark forces is basically a screenplay.
Anyway, the crux of this for me was that it is considered haram having the jedi temple on Yavin IV. Thanks Disney.
I been saying that for 10 years. I wish they just kept all our favorite characters a lot of us grew up with or been reading for 30 years before Disney came and mess with it. But, yea the EU is my Star Wars. I don't think I buying another book/audiobook of Star Wars until its a continuation of the EU storyline.
Indeed. They killed Han, turned Luke into a loser, introduced a MarRey Sue who couldn't be beaten, and Soylo Ren who couldn't beat ANYONE.

Even if it's reused assets it's still invigorating to finally see events that play out after Jedi Academy, and in the good ending as well. I think the Yavin 4 training missions/puzzles both in Outcast and Academy were great puzzle designs. I would love to see the temple grounds expanded upon further than just what we've seen in the eroded parts, training droids, and small duel areas. Imagine how fun it would be if we could explore the entirety of the temple inside and out as you progress through the game. I like to imagine that Luke wouldn't allow less experienced Jedi into more sacred parts of the temple and that there would be harder challenges, force secrets, and stuff to explore elsewhere.
20:00 the subsequent 30 seconds are, alone, better than the whole disney trilogy.

What an interesting concept. I waited years for a follow up to Jedi Academy that never came, so this kind of scratches that itch.

if they ever make another hopefully its after disney has lost enough money that they sell it back to lucas, otherwise EA will do it and you'll end up having to pay for every lightsaber slash, guard, color force power sky color, and every sentence, they would make it a game that costs thousands of dollars to get the full experience
Just find your video, i think you should make this as gameplay series when there new updates because i think lot's of people will watching

Yes! open the command console and type:
r_customwidth 1920
then
r_customheight 1080
then
r_mode -1
then reset the game

The fighters in the hangar are Z-95 Headhunters. They don't have s-foils and aren't as fast or pretty as X-Wings, but they're sturdy little things.

I don't like that it features repeated dialogue from the main story in Academy so heavily. It kind of breaks the immersion.
I feel like with today's AI voice generation, a lot more radical story changes could be made. It'd be really interesting to see.
