Super smooth. Kommt am Freitag auch endlich bei mir an. Magst du den S-4 mehr oder den Tempera. Ich hatte auch beide auf der Wishlist und mich am Ende für S-4 entschieden.
Danke !! Ich hatte auch erst den Eindruck das Tempera und S4 sich an manchen Stellen ähnlich sind. Daher ist der Tempera für Viele leider ein wenig in den Schatten des S4 geraten. Aber tatsächlich sind die beiden sooo grundverschieden. Tempera ist ein granularer Synth im besten Sinne.. für mich der „mächtigste“ der derzeit auf dem Markt ist. S4 dagegen ist ein sample mangler mit einem granularen „Effekt“ .. kein granularer synth im eigentlichen Sinne. Beide so verschieden das man sie unmöglich direkt vergleichen kann. Der S4 ist schon nice aber fühlt sich an wie noch nicht einmal in der Beta Phase angekommen .. derzeit wie ein Vorgeschmack auf das was einmal kommen wird. Tempera ist in dem halben Jahr total gereift und wird fast täglich besser.

Ich fand tatsächlich das Design, die Vielzahl der Möglichkeiten durch die Modulationen und auch das große Display am S-4 etwas ansprechender. Aber 128 Grains ist ein Witz gegen die 4000 vom Tempera. Und auch schwach von Torso, diese Information versteckt in den FAQ mitzuteilen.
Die Vielzahl an Bugs und fehlende Features wie MIDI Sync,Ableton Link sind ebenso ziemlich schwach.
Ich dachte schon das ich mich eventuell falsch entschieden habe. Nächste Woche werde ich sehen ob der S-4 dennoch überzeugen kann.
Es freut mich aber aufjedemfall zu hören das Tempera glänzen kann, dann gibt es noch eine Alternative am Ambient Himmel.

@@lobitloopers nicht falsch verstehen .. der S4 begeistert mich durchaus. Wenn der mal erwachsen ist wird das ne richtig coole Kiste. Viele halten ihn aber für etwas das er nicht ist .. einen granularern Synth. Die granularen Fähigkeiten des S4 sind eher mit clouds/microcosm zu vergleichen .. eher ein Effekt. Klar kann man auch mit dem tape und LFOs was granular artiges machen aber das geht mit vielen samplern und macht den S4 nicht zum granularen Synth.
Ja tatsächlich hab ich auch eher mit nem mini gr-1 gerechnet aber dafür ist der s-4 wohl nicht gedacht.
Macht nix. Bin gespannt was da noch so kommt.
Hast du tempera mal in Kombination mit dem Torso probiert? Mach doch gern mal ein Video. Ich glaube da hätten viele Bock drauf :)

Very nice! From your Lemondrop video I get the impression that the LD has more parameters to play with if you only look at the granular synth. Do you think that too?
The S4's granular capabilities are more of an effect than a synthesis. You can think of it more like the microcosm or clouds. In that respect you are definitely right.
I think I saw you had some jams with tempera and now this. I’m sure they are quite different but which one are you liking more? I just got my tempera and it has been awesome as a textural base layer for ambient music
The two are actually SO different that it's impossible for me to compare them. Both are absolute highlights... the most innovative devices I've seen in a long time. Tempera is a dream of a granular synth and the speed of updates and interaction with users is something I've never experienced before. The S4's granular capabilities are more comparable to Clouds/Microcosm... more of an effect than synthesis. It's more about recording loops... shaping them... creating something new out of them... sculting sampler is actually a very appropriate name.
I want to like this box. You'll be helping here then! Have you opinions on it so far?

I really enjoy this box..it's hard to keep my hands off it and move on to something else. It's certainly not for everyone, but it applies almost 100 percent to my workflow for ambient. Record quite long loops... form something new out of them... add more layers on top... the S4 is perfect for that.
VERY subtle but nice :) ... But honestly, I'd rather enjoy what's here now than to have to wait any longer. Even if these functions would never come (which I don't expect), I wouldn't regret it at all. Of course, everyone has to assess this for themselves.
@@substan_music if you had to compare to an elektron sampler (dt mk2 / mk1 / octa / other eg lemon drop...) in terms of work flow?
@@substan_music ;) yeah, I see the logic here, actually I think I'm gonna buy the thing regardless the missing bits. but this desire was only possible because Torso advertised the thing too early, and rushed the launch. maybe because so many other granular devices are (expected to be) around: Tempera, GR-Mega, Groc..
regardless of that, with the original pun, I only hope to underline that a) the downsides/the missing bits need to be mentioned, b) critics is good for the market.
I think the S4 has a great potential with more 'machines' added to the FX slots and looper receiving some more attention in future. the latter is especially important, as the granular side of things is everywhere (and not really advanced with the current fw either)
