At about 8.25 he suggests using a 3rd truing point to improve accuracy. In sighting in the Oracle X I found if I did not use a 3rd SR point my arrow would shoot high at longer distances ( 50 yds +). I talked to tech support at Burris (very helpful) and the guy said to add a 3rd SR value. When I did this the scope was extremely accurate (shooting a Raven r10) at all distances out to 70 yds. My SR distances were 35 yds, 50 yds and 70 yds. 😀
If you have a problem screwing in the battery cap get a 3/8 inch wooden dowl and cut it about 7 inches long. In one end cut a slot center line of the dowl the width of the saw blade so that the half moon flap on the cap will fit into the slot. This will make screwing in the cap much easier.
Yes, I seen this done on a couple of RUclips videos before! I made a similar one of my own and considerably easier to deal with the battery installation.
I think this scope is going to be a real game changer for me. My biggest concern about hunting with a crossbow, or a vertical bow, has always been ending up with a wounded and lost deer. Because of inaccurate range estimation. If this device continues to work as well as it did this morning my hunting is going to be much more fun because I'll know the range holder at the click, actually two clicks, of a button. I sighted it in for 20 with little problem and then went out to 50. It was already set at the factory to be within two inches the bullseye at 5o. I followed the directions and a short time later managed to drop the pin on to the bullseye. After a few shots accepted the setting and then fired a few more off the bench. Right on. And then, walked toward the target and shot again at a random distance. Right on. Not once did I have to fiddle with a hand held range finder. Next I'll back off to 70 or so and if it's on at that range will back out to 100 and verify the curve (trajectory) at that range. At this point, I think you guys at Burris have produced a product that will prevent a lot of wounding and lost deer. Nice job.
Thanks so much for the write-up! We really appreciate the feedback, and you giving our sight a chance in the first place. Best of luck to you this season! 🍻
I needed to change arrows so the day before yesterday I had to re-tru SR1. I got it down to essentially shooting same hole at 50 twice in a row so set it aside for the day. It was late. And I figured that was close enough. The next morning I shot twice, at 50 yds again, and it impacted about 1.5 inches high and left. I was afraid the scope might not be maintaining zero, but it was also a little windy, so I set the bow aside until almost dead calm that evening. Under almost dead calm conditions I shot at 50 again and dead on. Two perfect bullseyes at 50. Good enough. To end the day I set up at 70 on a different lane through the woods that drops about 6 feet over 100 yards and squeezed one off. Perfect elevation but maybe an inch right. Today, under a very slight wind, I shot again at 70, and then moved the target out to 81 yards. At 81the POI was perfect in terms of elevation and about an inch right. Shot again and the POI was about .25 in high and right. Finally, I changed the power from 7 to 2 back and forth a couple of times and then to 7 and the POI was about .5 inches low. So, changing the power did not change the POI. The .5 inch off the bullseye was likely wind or me. In summary, the scope held zero, ranged and dropped a LED properly/accurately out to 81 yards, while properly adjusting for the decline in elevation to the target. With only one truing session at 50 yards. Shooting was done with a Mission MXB-400 off a bench (tables) with the bow resting on sand bags. Under near calm winds. The bow was roughly choreographed at 371 fps. At that arrow speed the LED bottoms out at a little less than 100 yards using 7 X magnification. Lowering the magnification will stretch the effective range of the scope well beyond that. What a treat to have something that works so well. If it does not stay that way I'll let you know! Nice job Burris, Jake.
@@BurrisOpticsCompany Thanks for the excellent bow scope! I just got out to 100 so these will be my last comments unless something breaks. Shot a few at 81 and POIs just a little right. Apparently I need to adjust scope to impact left just a bit. Shot 2 at 100 and also a little right but in a .75 inch group. Not bad, right? Elevations were excellent (right on) out to 100 yards after only one SR. An 8 year old (?) MXB-400 with a month old Burris Oracle X. Thanks, Jake.
I was concerned with shooting heavy arrows out of an old school speed ring scope, especially out to 40-50yd. Hopefully this will give me some good target solutions for the 23 season!
It has taken me a while but I finally can afford to buy this scope. I am going out next week to try and set it up. Did you ever make another video with a little more depth?
Jake, thanks for the video. I have just received my new scope. Watched your video multiple times and read the owners manual. You mentioned there will be a follow up video. I’d love to see a follow on video, explaining a detailed step by step…..I’m excited to use this scope on my ravin. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the feedback, Troy. Also thanks so much for trying the Oracle X. We do plan to add more videos, and I'll pass this along to Jake. Let us know if we can help! 👊
Hello, The start of this information can be found on page 8 of the user guide in the trueing section. The video on the post also goes into great detail of how to do this process starting at 5:52.
I have a new Mission Sub 1 XR in hand but waiting on the Oracle X still. Pre ordered on May 7 from Wyvern Creations, a top crossbow dealer. For some reason the Phillipino boat is moving slow.
Since there isn't anything like it anywhere else on the market the demand is quite high. Additionally these are 100% quality inspected in the US. We are cranking through them steadily and more are going out pretty much weekly. 👍
Free advice, Take a shipment that seem to always end up at Scheels and send them to the guy who probably sells more high end crossbows than anyone in the country. He’s gotten 6 out of over 200 on order. Just a thought. Many people are not happy. Just check out crossbow nation forum. You’ll see for yourself. But I appreciate your response. Good day!
Scheels has had them twice and sold out twice before anyone else even ordered them? Their ordering guy needs a raise! Kudos to him. Hopefully I’ll have mine before hunting season.
Great video, really steps through the setup. I have hunted with a rifle and bow in the past, and now (after an injury) will likely qualify for a crossbow permit in my state. With that I am seriously considering in selling a rifle or two and purchasing this scope with a budget model crossbow -getting into crossbow hunting full time. Accuracy is key and with this scope.. any crossbow should perform exceptionally. Thank you.
Super easy instructions to follow, and the manual does a nice job. I finished sighting in and had a 6" group at 95 yds. Pretty happy. However now I cannot get the main menu to re-appear. Only a "CONFIG >" menu, which is not described in the manual, and its persistent. I cannot get rid of it and go back to the main menu? Any suggestions for overcoming this?
Ordered one and waiting for it to come in so watching this video several times to get my head around the truing function. I don't have a lot of space to shoot so can I true it at 20 yards or should I true at a further yardage? Looking forward to using this scope in the upcoming season!
To turn the sight on you press the ranging button, the scope will auto off at 10 minutes, 90 seconds for the screen to go to sleep. The scope will not loose its truing points if the battery is removed.
Is there any film through the scope cameras AND mount that works with this scope? Seems the buttons on top of the eyepiece and it's odd shape as a result limit the attachment of a through the scope camera. Please let us know if you know something that would work. Thanks!
A little vague when you get to adjustment for Truing. You say, you can adjust the pin, but you don't explain how. It would help a lot of us by providing as much detail as possible. Thanks.
Once on that step, you use the up and down arrows on the sight to move your flashing pin to the desired POI and then save. After that, you do it at the rest of your Selected Ranges and save. Apologies on the video being vague in that regard.
If i was advertising that scope i wouldn't have put it on a Ravin 😅🤣😅 she would have been on a nitro 505 .... having to shoot at a different 1 inch square on the target everytime so I dont bust nocks off my bolts ....
I have a question about arrow profiles. I want to set up a second profile for a heavier arrow. It shoots 2 inches lower at 20 yards than the lighter arrow. If I set up the truing distances for the second arrow will it adjust my 20 yard dot for that arrow? I'm assuming I can't manually change the 20 yard pin for the heavier arrow without affecting the 20 yard zero for the lighter arrow
When you hold the button to range your target: does it still range at any target when moving the crossbow, as long you hold the button, or do i have to push the button each time for every target, thanks a lot ?
Do you need to be at base magnification to use bullseye vs arrow adjustment? I have a Nitro 505 and it is compensating way too much. At 100 yards it’s one LED between 6 inches high, on target, or low at 7x.
How many truing points are you using? For faster cross bows we recommend 4 truing points starting at 40 yards. 40, 60, 80, 100 will give you the best curve.
I'm shooting the nocks off my bolts at 20 yds, when I back up to 40 yds truing...it shoots 4 inches to the left. I'm using a tripod my crossbow locks into. I don't understand what's happening. HELP!
Possibly, that depends on the crossbow that you are using. If you are using an older crossbow with a lower FPS of <=250 FPS then yes. If you have a more modern crossbow with speeds exceeding 400 FPS then definitely no. You will need to set your truing points starting at 40 yards, then 60, 80, 100 yards.
You will need at least two truing point. I would do 30 & 40. You should be ok. I you see variations at distance, you can always add two more truing points.
hi i just got my oracle x and i tryed to set my 50 yard with the idea of just holding the blinking dot on center of the target and moveing the solid dot to my arrow impack. well after ckecking i was still shooting low. that was with a 30 yard already set. so what went worng
I have set SR1 at 30, SR2 at 39, SR3 at 50 and SR4 at 60. If I want to change an SR distance do I have to stay in order or will the computer rearrange? In other words, if I change SR3 to 80, does it matter that it is longer than the 60 yards set for SR4?
Yes that would likely result in something strange happening with the curve. You'll need to properly have them set by distance in ascending order for it to calculate properly.
@@BurrisOpticsCompany Good to know thanks. I am curious what the factory loaded ballistics profile uses for arrow speed. I assume it is much higher than my 305 fps based on some trial shots with the existing horizontal marks. In any case, I was very impressed with how closely the scope predicted my next SR after the previous one was set. My recommendation for an improvement is that it be more obvious if you are on Bolt 1 vs Bolt 2 profile. It seems to me I would need to go into the menu to verify. It would be nice if a 1 or 2 (or better, A or B) would be present at the upper readout just as your Y for yardage is always there.
I really appreciate the feedback and will pass it along. I'm not sure what the generic factory curve is based on to be honest. I'm happy to inquire however!
Hello Jay, That is pretty simple. You press the up and down arrows on your button pad to adjust the dot, once you are in the SR selection. Here is a complete setup video link. Go to 5:42 ruclips.net/video/7Y0ZcvWJpsA/видео.html
No, you'll need to complete the entire process for the sight to work correctly. You'll have to find a way to shoot those farther distances, or the Oracle X likely isn't needed.
Hmm, shoot us a case over here and we can get into more extensive troubleshooting. It will allow you to send pictures if needed: burris.supportsync.com/
so... for the guts of how this works... internally, it's not projecting a moving digital aiming point.... it's merely got a string of led's on the elevation bar that it's choosing to illuminate depending on how you setup the ballistic curve? Watching how the sighting is done... and that the adjustments for elevation and windage are done via the mounting system... i'd be worried that a knock to the bow/scope could blow your aim (easier than a blow to a scope with internal adjustments, at least).
Correct - there isn't an internal aiming point but rather an LED bar on the vertical that lights up based on calculated range, angle, and your ballistic curve. For the external adjustments, that's why we created locking screws for both elevation and windage - to ensure that bumps don't move your point of aim.
Sighting in scope at 20,50, 75,100 yards. Dead on at all ranges except 100 yards and it’s shooting about 6 inches to the right. How do I adjust windage without changing the other truing points?
So I went back and shot another bolt and it was 6” to the right just like the others. I shot another bolt and it was closer to where I was aiming. Continued to shoot 3 more times and they were dead center. Not sure what happened on the first 4 shots? I’ve never pulled that far to the right 3 times in a row like that but it’s certainly possible.
If you have a newer cell phone that does slow motion video its often useful to film the release of the bolt from the top looking down on the crossbow and from the side as well. That can help you determine things like mistimed cams, inconsistent spined bolts, contact points of the fletching, etc. I also tend to mark my arrows/bolts with a number to see if they behave differently. If bolt #3 consistently hits off then I know I'll have to get rid of that one. I tend to see 1 out of 6 doesn't hit the same point of impact for whatever reason.
When it rain it pours. This has been a tough year for me and my family. First I had to put down my 13 year old dog who went every where with me, my daughter rolled my quad wrecked it and hurt her leg badly, someone stole my range finder, then came the killer blow my wife of 31 years has been diagnosed with terminal cancer with one maybe two years to live. As a pastor/christian I can still say God is good. As for my scope before my wife’s diagnosis I did get out hunting during bow season but my scope let me down I could not range it and the battery died again (I lost count at least 5 batteries so far). I have never shot it at an animal yet but still think that if it will work like it is supposed to it will be fantastic. So I am sending it back and asking for it to be replaced so I can start fresh. I could sure use a little good news.

Hi Jake, this is a fantastic product. But it seems to me to be very complicated to set up. Maybe I need a dummies version that goes through everything, even the simple stuff. LOL
It does seem a little daunting at first glance but once you dig a little deeper it all makes sense. We do plan to release more in depth breakdown videos in the future on this though. Stay tuned!
@@BurrisOpticsCompany I found it incredibly difficult as well. Bolts were all touching @ 20 yards. At 40 yards they were high & right. "Chasing" the bolts is very complicated.
It will range about 300-400 yards. As for how far it will display a dot, it all depends on what curve you set during the setup. You can achieve over 100 yards.
I was able to take a 200 yard shot with my Mission Sub-1 XR and the Burris Oracle X. I would never try and take a deer at that yardage but it was fun to do. Wind blew my arrow waaay off target lol
I installed this optic on a crossman 760 air rifle.I have now shot the riffle around 500 times during target/plinking practice, and the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope has done well. With this optic, I have neutralized around 30 pigeons that were invading one of my buildings. For my short range air rifle, I will continue to use this scope, but will be upgrading to a more powerful scope, when I buy a more powerful air rifle, in order to shoot at longer distance. For the money I have spent, this scope has truly been a great buy.
Absolute disaster, I got it set up perfect at 20 yards and tried to set it up at 30 yards, I couldn't range it, it would not show any reading. So i tried at 40 yards still nothing. I was trying to figure out what I was doing wrong when my crossbow fell off the table and broke the mount. (the plastic part under the scope) I am gutted I never even got to use the electronics at all.
Well I never gave up and now I have my scope dialed in. It took a long time and several trips to the range. First it would have been nice if the instructions would have said something like once you have the 20 yard range dialed in using the windage and elevation adjustments that we DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE these settings again. (This might be obvious to some, not me) Second “chasing the arrows”. Well talk about a huge struggle for someone who is dyslexic. My mind does not see that if I am shooting low of my POA that I need to lower the LED. Or if I am shooting higher that I need to move the LED up. It didn’t make sense to lower my LED, so like an idiot I adjusted the elevation. You can probably see where this is going, yep, south in a hurry. After watching this video for the 30th time and re-reading the instructions for the (Probably) the 40th time it clicked. So I started all over at 20 yards, dialed in perfect. Now at 34 yards (SR1) I understood what is meant by “Chasing the arrows”, which I did, I did have to adjust the led, but got it perfect. Then at 46yards (SR2), 62 yards (SR3), and finally at 79 yards (SR4). WOW, what a difference, I tried a shot at 100 yards to see what would happen I hit the bulls eye dead centre. Then for the shorter distance test. (This is the one which always went south on me before) I shot 28 yards, hit the bulls eye. Now I have confidence which I did not have before. And only 10 days before bow season opens up here in Alberta.

I'm assuming I can't manually change the 20 yard pin for the heavier arrow without affecting the 20 yard zero for the lighter arrow
For the second arrow you'll need to sight in the 20 yard distance again. It will save your first setting of the 20 in your arrow profile.
When you hold the button to range your target: does it still range at any target when moving the crossbow, as long you hold the button, or do i have to push the button each time for every target, thanks a lot ?
You'll need to depress the button each time you want to range something. There isn't a continuous scan setting.
Will this scope function properly on the various new airbows that are becoming popular?
In theory it *could* but we haven't tested it with airbows.
Do you need to be at base magnification to use bullseye vs arrow adjustment? I have a Nitro 505 and it is compensating way too much. At 100 yards it’s one LED between 6 inches high, on target, or low at 7x.
Using the two LED method, it’s a difference of several LEDs.
How many truing points are you using? For faster cross bows we recommend 4 truing points starting at 40 yards. 40, 60, 80, 100 will give you the best curve.
Does this scope calibrate for appeal and downhill shots?
Yes, the Oracle X has an inclinometer to compensate for uphill, and down hill shots.
I'm shooting the nocks off my bolts at 20 yds, when I back up to 40 yds truing...it shoots 4 inches to the left. I'm using a tripod my crossbow locks into. I don't understand what's happening. HELP!

Can you set it up for 20-50 yards I have no interest in shooting farther than that
Possibly, that depends on the crossbow that you are using. If you are using an older crossbow with a lower FPS of <=250 FPS then yes. If you have a more modern crossbow with speeds exceeding 400 FPS then definitely no. You will need to set your truing points starting at 40 yards, then 60, 80, 100 yards.
@ crossbow shoots about 315fps
You will need at least two truing point. I would do 30 & 40. You should be ok. I you see variations at distance, you can always add two more truing points.
hi i just got my oracle x and i tryed to set my 50 yard with the idea of just holding the blinking dot on center of the target and moveing the solid dot to my arrow impack. well after ckecking i was still shooting low. that was with a 30 yard already set. so what went worng
You'll need to follow the procedure in the manual exactly as described, there isn't a way to work around it.
How do you move the aiming pin during the truing process?
Hello Jay,
That is pretty simple. You press the up and down arrows on your button pad to adjust the dot, once you are in the SR selection.
Here is a complete setup video link. Go to 5:42
ruclips.net/video/7Y0ZcvWJpsA/видео.html
I have that same bow and I can’t find a rest that works well, which rest is that?
That is the Caldwell Matrix shooting rest.
Would you just repeat the process when sighting in broadheads?
Exactly. For whichever bolt you choose, you'll need to match the curve to it.
Is there an ability to make adjustments to dim or brighten the dot?
Yes, once powered on you can press the up or down button to raise or lower the brightness. 👍
You didn’t mention Bolt number 1 or 2.
Do we have to do the truing process ? Or if if set it at 20 and good at 40 can I just leave it at the adjustments I made ?
No, you'll need to complete the entire process for the sight to work correctly.
Ok If I only use the truing process for just 40 yards will I be sighted in for say 60 or 70 ? Currently Don’t have more then 40 to shoot it.
No, you'll need to complete the entire process for the sight to work correctly. You'll have to find a way to shoot those farther distances, or the Oracle X likely isn't needed.
Would you be able to add a front clip on NV unit and use both together?
Not likely, the clip on NV would probably block the range finder.
@@BurrisOpticsCompany so a rear add on would be no problem. Thanks for your help.
👍
I can seem to get my Windage screw to turn when I loosen the set screw. It's extremely tight. Any suggestions
What about windage corrections?
Nothing for windage corrections currently.
im in oz just spent 700 on a ravin hard case will my r 26 still fit in coffin with this on
Without having the case in hand to measure I can't really say for certain, but they work with the standard Ravin cases.
Sighting in scope at 20,50, 75,100 yards. Dead on at all ranges except 100 yards and it’s shooting about 6 inches to the right. How do I adjust windage without changing the other truing points?
Hmm, so does it consistently shoot 6 inches to the right? I'd confirm with at least 5 bolts to be sure.
@@BurrisOpticsCompany Ok. I shot 3 bolts and all were 6” right. I’ll try again with 5 shots.
For more in depth troubleshooting on this please visit: burris.supportsync.com/
I tend to see 1 out of 6 doesn't hit the same point of impact for whatever reason.
how to brighten the retacles on the oracle xbow
Push the up button to increase the illumination. Press the down button to decrease the illumination.
My scope won’t turn on. Just purchased it

@@BurrisOpticsCompany has updated release been put out yet, I'm a dummie and getting out again tonight to hopefully true mine ;-)
@@BurrisOpticsCompany it’s been 2 years. When is the future video?
No future video's probably, they made there money 😂
possibiliter d avoir en francais svp
How do you turn it off ?
They time out after a period of non use, there isn't an off button per se.
How far will it range and drop a pin?
It will range about 300-400 yards. As for how far it will display a dot, it all depends on what curve you set during the setup. You can achieve over 100 yards.
I was able to take a 200 yard shot with my Mission Sub-1 XR and the Burris Oracle X. I would never try and take a deer at that yardage but it was fun to do. Wind blew my arrow waaay off target lol
@@SeasonalObsession lol! I’m going to sight mine in at 100. I believe the Oracle X will actually drop a pin farther than that though.
Depending on your curve, it can definitely drop a pin farther than that. 👍
I have to agree, taking those crazy far shots at targets is a blast!
Much appreciated! 🙌

Keith, please contact our customer service team! burris.supportsync.com/
Much appreciated! 🙌
I lost my wireless remote. How do I get another one?
New remotes can be purchased here: burris.supportsync.com/
Must be nice to have a$3000 ravin ,
Wh6 didn't u have a regular crossbow like %99 have ,kind of alienate yourself from here buying pool
This is an example of something that is a detriment. Things like this, will lead to crossbows being banned from bow seasons.
Because it allow for a more ethical shot?
