this is probably one of chvrches' best songs and performances, the song is perfect with a great buildup and balance between vocals and instruments, it just all fits so well with Lauren's voice to the perfect rhythm
I do agree with you. There's another version of Clearest Blue "live at SPIN at Stubb's" which is also wonderful. Lauren's performance was overwhelming. She was more involved, very expressive in gestures etc But I think this pitchfork version here is pretty good, has some minimal adjustments on instrumental parts. Chvrches is the biggest breakthrough in pop music in the 2010s for me. I would like to know more about who is more responsible for what in the band. who is more songwriter, if there is a real partnership in this sense, who is more connected to the images associated with the band, etc. Ps: just think they deserved better videos. Something more autoral, pieces of art.
