Yea; that's the way they do it in the CHP.. All that money spent for nothing. Just push a dang button and be done with it. I spent 25 years doing it in the Atlanta Metro area. Its not that difficult to push a button and turn everything on and talk on the radio at the same time!!!
Anyone else think this is a ridiculous feature? It's not really "hands free" because they have to reach down and hit the red button before they talk anyway. The previous setup with the switch that had 3 positions was simple. Most cops could flip that switch a heck of a lot faster all without taking their eyes off the road and without having to say anything. It seems like they are trying to fix something that isn't broken simply because it's "technologically advanced."
yeah, its not difficult to click a buttom or slide a switch that activates lights, and you don't have to worry about saying the command in the right tone/pitch so the system recognizes it! Turning the lights on would be like turning up the volume in your car.. everyone does it, and at some point your muscle memory will let you do that without looking away from the road!
Why the lights from her side did not flash anyone wonders. Well it's called a CANPORT system for officer safety. When the driver or passenger side door is opened, the side lights stop flashing until the door is closed. It's in place to not blind the officer when he returns to his vehicle. But in my opinion if you put your hand on the latch to open the door you're already blinded before you have a chance to open the door. 🤔🤔🤔
it's the State of CA. "Police State",just given a different name than other States that have State Police.Their primary duties is to manage, regulate and enforce traffic laws of the highway transportation system and vechile codes. There was a CA.State Police agency that did the protection of the capital and governor of CA. but was disbanded in 1995 and merge with CHP.
What a waste of money. Hands free? They have to push a button to activate the system. How is that hands free? Plus they still use the handheld mike to transmit radio calls. Meanwhile all law enforcement officers in the state are exempt from the cell phone laws which is why you see them talking on their cell phones. Of course anyone with common sense knows its not the fact that something is in your hand that is distracting its the conversation that is the distraction. Otherwise why are coffee cups not outlawed? Got to keep paying for the unsustainable benefits somehow...
I guess you rather them ride horses instead, so the next time you have an emergency, it'll take them 5 hours to get there. Is that where you want your "tax money going" instead?
Hands free technology? More like such baloney nonsense stuff. They still have to press a button to activate the voice control and say it. It seems that it takes longer than the old style way. Just another useless addition to CHP vehicles. Don’t think this improves lives as much as the old way did.
it takes longer for the voice recognition system to process the code 3 request than it is to just put your hand down and flip a switch lol
Dave Chai so true

Monroe50 especially since it's probably muscle memory to you and it wouldn't be a distraction. it's like your office lol
All about optics now boys and girls lol
That system has a joystick at the bottom where they can program the buttons to control the lights and siren.
Why didn't they edit out her fail? Lmao
lol it was live
skater187101; She had that, "Oh crap", look on her face.
loved it! ROFL
hahahaha “code 3”.... nothing happens
Ikr.
So they still have to push a button as they had to before. But now they have to push a button and talk. Yep definitely seems so much safer 🤔

that is very true the 3 position switch is easy to use.

And we pay the tax money for that
May Officer Manny and all Officers who die Rest In Peace. ALL cops are awesome and I will always Back the Blue! Thank you very much for posting!
Lol she said code 3 too fast, didn't give the voice command system a second to activate ... embarrassing!
It's not really hands-free when you have to press a button to activate the voice command.
Those Ford Explorers are great looking Patrol SUVs.
+PokerRun388 Still a shame that those other cars, forgot what their name was that got discontinued even before their production got even started.....
Andrew Silva That was the Carbon Motors E7.
Hands free..... pushes button
Did they ever mention any statistics of any cop getting into an accident from turning on their lights?
How is it hands free when you have to push a button same thing as flipping a switch
530i with quad tips lol, of course he's speeding
seems more distracting now than before.

They still have this system, but it takes forever to even turn on. They’re better off keeping a ELS panel
Most sirens are integrated into the horn rings. This is a complete waste of money.
I’d be surprised if they still use them in 2022
Cop be I had to go 130 miles an hour to catch up officer how fast was I going you were going up 90 The car is going to be impounded now sir
Get a better flash pattern. That will improve officer safety.
Until they go truly hands-free, their hands-free laws for civilians are invalid.
lol no they are not, i see them all the time on their phones including police and sherrifes
So embarrasing
WHAT IS CHP?!?!?!?!!?
Engineering Nonsense California Highway Patrol
ICanHazGaming12345 ahh thanks
Engineering Nonsense you must be young, live in a different State in America or either from another country but it's all good.

TheXtro101 I am not from California, as you will find 99.9% of the world population isn't lol
Thanks for the explanation though. Very interesting.

That's where our tax money going
Jorge Hernandez C.H.P. isn't funded by taxes...they're funded by vehicle registration fees
You don't even pay taxes so why would you even care
where else would you want it to go? random stuff that is useless?
I guess you rather them ride horses instead, so the next time you have an emergency, it'll take them 5 hours to get there. Is that where you want your "tax money going" instead?
Love how it didn’t work
Was she in a CHP Taurus I’ve never saw a CHP Taurus
Lindsay Adams should have done that report naked.
Beautiful woman
lol what useless tech.
This is just another waste of money.
