- Here's proof that you can grow tons of herbs, veggies, and fruit in a small space (like an apartment, deck or balcony) and use your harvests to create delicious season side dishes, body care products, season every day cooking, or preserve your bounty for months to come. In this video I'll share dozens of herbs, fruits and vegetables perfect for small space and beginner gardeners. As a homestead dreamer that currently works full time and lives in a townhouse in the city, I want to grow alll the things but honey, I barely have a slab of dirt in my backyard. Ditching the pots and maximizing my growing space by growing vertically has been a game changer. Now I'm growing over 100 different plants on a deck using a Greenstalk planter that doesn't require tools or much time to assemble. It's affordable, easier on your back and body than containers and helps keep pests and disease at bay. Take a look at how much you can grow in a small space (and the enjoyment you'll get from having fresh produce right outside of your door!)

Hi Cassandra. I want to share with you how you have had a huge impact on my perspective of gardening. When I first saw your videos I was intrigued. Now I am encouraged, learning and informed. Today I'm excitedly waiting for my green stalk to arrive. I'm looking forward to trying the recipes you have profiled and I've bought several of the books you recommended. I'm canning, freezing and dehydrating. I look forward to watching all of your videos. Thanks so much for all of your effort. You're making a difference.
Hi Catherine! It's always so good to see you! You have me grinning from ear to ear, lady! And, congrats on your Green Stalk purchase! Keep me posted! The ease of having a movable garden that maximizes space on my small deck has been steps ahead of when I had dozens of pots and buckets. The joy I get from being able to cook with fresh herbs from spring through late fall never gets old! The same is true with food preservation, in all of its forms. It keeps our budget in check, we eat great, its (mostly) a stress relief from a busy work day, and a useful skill I couldn't trade for the world. I hope that, within your kitchen, home, and soon to be garden that you are cultivating the spirit of joy that comes with this lifestyle. I'm so proud of you!!!
Sweet!
Greetings from Ghana. I've only just now come across your channel. THIS VIDEO IS.AAAAWESOME!!!!!!!!!
You’re video’s are freaking addictive, lol 😂 We may need a support group soon 💕 Thanks for being amazing and inspiring ☺️
Shut the front door- you have an ANTIQUES and VINTAGE channel? Honey, I have glanced at your video catalog and I will be back to watch for sure. I've been curious about milk glass for so long and you seem to be the go to! Thanks for the encouraging words, sharing (and learning) with others is a blessing that goes both ways!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl thank you! I have a definite milk glass problem, lol 😂 Gonna need a support group for that too 😂
Glad I came across this channel ❤
Beautiful balcony garden!
I absolutely love that you provide recipes with the featured skill.
Very helpful 😊love the recipes
Thank God I found your channel
Cassandra, I love how much food you grow. You are such an inspiration to me. Thanks so much for such amazing and useful content.
You are so welcome, Saran! It's good to see you. How is your garden doing this year?
❤
I found your video last year and its now my second year growing with my vertical garden. You blessed me. Thank you❤
Extraordinary! I love it ❤
Cassandra, I used your code and ordered two greenstalks this month for our apartment balcony! I cannot wait to start growing and keep learning from you. Seeing how much you’re able to grow in these really convinced me to try them out. 😊
Alexa! It's good to see you again, girl! Aww, thank you so, so much! I cannot tell you how much these stalks have been the answer to a number of walls I was hitting as a former mostly container gardener. This is my best garden yet, and honey I only consider myself an advanced beginner. The footage from this video is about 3 weeks old and things have only gotten wilder! Being able to roll your garden around, set up a durable garden structure in minutes, rotate your garden, stand in place and get to everything, and more has "set me free' -lol. They are perfect for small spaces and will easily pack when you move. Def keep me posted! Hope you're having a great week!
Convinced as well so convenient to put your plants on wheels genuious. Thank you Cassandra for all your videos so very helpful to beginners like me. And pesticide free veggies and 🌿 herbs
Thanks love! You’re amazing ❤
Big +1 for growing your own herbs. There's nothing like home grown, and most commonly-used herbs are very simple to grow. Don't pay $8-$9 for a little jar or packet of something you can easily grow yourself in a pot in a sunny window.
Oh, and pesto! Hells yes! I make boatloads of that stuff with basil & garlic scapes, frozen in portions for use throughout the year. 😋
Hey Jeff! Darlin' you said it. I look at the prices of fresh herbs at the grocery store and I'm like, no way--its highway robbery! The vibrant taste from fresh herbs is so much better than dried (and when you dehydrate them at home you know they are super fresh and haven't been sitting around for who knows how long). And yes, around here, there is no such thing as "too much pesto"! Thanks for sharing!
Just picked and canned 4 quarts of green beans last night. Trying to teach my nephew how to can while needing to remember how little I cared about that stuff when I was 11. Lol. He is doing well though. :-)
Exactly what I was thinking! My early teen years, my best friend's mom canned, sewed, and went antiquing. Kept trying to interest us. Guess what I'm interested in now, many years later!
Hi Becky! What a lucky nephew.!!! The skill you are teaching him now will stay with him for a lifetime and its a beautiful legacy to pass on. Isn't that the thing about life, you realize that the true treasures are the simple things usually derived from your own two hands. Doesn't get any better than that!
Your setup is amazing, WOW! Nicely done :)
You are such an INSPIRATION! Great info, great demonstrations and a darling personality. Thanks for this little spot of sunshine.
My goodness, your voice is so soothing! Great video.
Just found your channel today & am binging so many videos & have so many ideas I think my brain is going to explode, ha! 🤣And your vertical garden is just the best icing on the idea-cake, lol. I never knew such things as vertical-planters-on-wheels existed...I have a small patio & it's filled with pots of pretty plants & I thought hrm, maybe I can find a way to add an herb or two. But then I saw your *vertical* planters...oh my gosh...so amazing. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous patio garden! I cannot wait to get some of these & some heirloom seeds (will watch that video next). I'm going to start planning now & hope to have full crops by next spring...it's so exciting. Thank you for all the inspo...it's wonderfuL! 😍
Oh wao I love your video I love it ❤more videos 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🥇
Cassandra, I just bought my 1st Greenstalk!!!! Caught a sale and added your code. Winner!!!😁
Garden Goddess blessings to you beautiful garden!!!💯❤️🖤💚🙏🔥🦁
I just love watching your videos. You are such a positive bright spot in the internet.
Hi Becky! Aww honey you are too sweet! The garden and my canning obsession are truly my inner joys! Hope your having a great day!
You have a green thumb ! 😍 good use of space.
So basil garlic salt at my Farmers Market! Your basil look fabulous!!
I love that herb hanger.
I know, right? It's stainless steel so it won't rust, and I mainly got it to hang delicates (stockings, slips, etc.) but I also use it for my herbs. I snagged it off of Amazon a while ago.
Love the mortar and pestle!
So happy your channel came up on my feed today. I've learned so much.
Im really looking forward to joining your channel today.
Well hello, Cassandra! (Lovely name btw). I'm a homestead dreamer currently living in a townhome in the city so here on my channel you'll find me learning and sharing how to cook from scratch for busy home cooks, canning my own veggies and recipes to build a healthy pantry and small space gardening. I'm so glad you're here and that you said, "Hello!"
I’m so happy I found your channel .. I want to get into this!!!
This is my first time seeing one of your videos...I liked your cooking ideas, you're so creative.
Your voice is beautiful. You should also do voice overs! Love the video❤❤❤
Ommagosh!I just can't describe how wonderful this whole video is! Thank you for this wonderful info. 💖
You're a veritable genius at gardening! If I could grow half the array of herbs and vegetables you have I would be so chuffed.
I love your channel!! I rarely see anyone show you what they do with their harvest after they preserve it until months later. I love that you do it all in one.
😊 I aspire to do this someday in my videos once I figure out how to best save and file clips for quickly finding.
I agree! I love her style ❤
Just stumbled across your video. Love! Love how you shoot your video and speak during it. Nice flow with great information
Hi Cassandra. I am SOOOOO glad you popped up. I'm still watching this and had to share on my FB page! We must grow our own food. I have land but I LOVE what you are teaching. When I harvest my basil I cannot wait to make the salt. I may try allulose for the sugar because I am low carb and try to avoid sugar. I look forward to seeing more videos!! God bless you and your family!!
I can’t wait to try some basil😊
Woooooooow I’m so impressed! I’m also inspired to pack in even more plants.
Hmmm. Yup. I should double everything! Also, I should subscribe because I feel in love with your channel first watch!
All praises to THE MOST HIGH !! ❤🎉
Now this sister's got the right idea!! ❤

Came over from fermented homestead on her video today's shout out..
Hi Cassandra never seen your channel before but wow how informative.
Hey Sis! I’m here watching. I’m totally going to be making herb sugars. Genius!
You are growing an enormous amount of food. 👏
Where did you find the hanger for drying your herbs?
Okay back to the video! 😜
OK I also need to know where you purchased the blue container to make your herb teas?
Beautiful video!
Hey lady! Awww, thanks so much. I purchased the tea cup from World Market! Love it because you don't even need a tea bag and it comes with a lid to keep your beverage hotter, longer. I found the hanging racks (stainless steel with 10 hanging clips) on Amazon. Here's the link:amzn.to/3Ri3UTX
Just came across this channel love your enthusiasm and energy. Thank you! subscribing 🎉
Hello I'm a newbie, and subbie, and all I can say is wow this is soo amazing you do an awesome job, and everything is so well taken care love it!

I am just thrilled to find your RUclips channel. I live in San Diego in a home with very small spaces to grow on. Thank you for sharing these wonderful recipes and ideas. I’ve got my notebook and pen out and I’m listening. 👏👏👏
It also looks gorgeous and green!! Makes ur space look fresh and filled with oxygen!!! ❤ this is goals for me in the city! 🙌🏾
I enjoyed learning and watching the video🤗🤗
Hello Cassandra, thank you so much for inspiring my family and I. My husband and I grew up in the country, but our circumstances will not allow us to have a plot of land currently. We love gardening and being outside, but were discouraged about our property with its limited sun and space. But you have gave us hope!! I wish I found your channel earlier. Additionally, it is extremely refreshing to see some diversity in the realm of "homesteading". With love from St. Louis, MO
I love your garden, ❤ so beautiful thank you for sharing

Not yet, Tammy! I would love to do that one day for sure. Thank you so much for the encouraging words!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl Yep, you really do need to add that to your project list. ;-)
This was so great to watch!
The fact that your representing black woman in this field as a hobbyist is beautiful, thank you
This is absolutely the best video I’ve seen on starting a new garden for beginners especially with a small balcony, this video was definitely power packed, beautiful extremely informative, and for the first time I’m actually excited about getting started and I’ve been intending to do this for a whole year now. So I just want to thank you so very much I look forward to watching many of your other videos along with your new upcoming videos. God bless you

Hey fellow frenchie fur baby momma! You know these little ones are our shadows so its inevitable he'll be in the shot. After years of eyeing these Green Stalks I'm so happy I took the plunge. Even I can't believe things are growing this well (honey I'm just an advanced beginner gardener). Thanks for saying hello!

Hello Cassandra, I just purchased my first green stalk this week using your code. When I opened the information, I was so surprised to see your story in there, way to go! I’ve been binge watching your videos and was looking for how you control pest and diseases. I didn’t find anything. In future videos, will you please share you information. Thanks!
This is such a beautiful video.
This is so amazing. I was just discussing this with my daughter. How we need to be more proactive in growing our own food resources and it gives the ability to help others i love this ❤. 😊
First time to your channel, I am so inspired by you and the passion you have. You teach, talk and cook well. You need a tv show. Bless you!
I just found u I'm so obsessed to binge your vids now. I have land but I rent so I can't dig up the yard (ikr) so I grow in pots and grow bags but nothing ever gets this big
Love your videos! I have 2 greenstalks that I got just this past May. I am amazed at how well they work! Planting this year was more of a grins & giggles experimental thing as I wanted to see what I could get away with (I actually planted cabbage). Next year I will be doing some more serious planning because these planters work so well. I have a really small deck so I think my last purchase will be a leafstalk. I'm also excited because the hubby likes the garden so far that he surprised me with the info that I can get a 10 in 1 Vegro to put in our yard! 😄😄😄
Life saving into we will definitely be sharing your excellent channel also we will be farming!
So inspirational💜 I love it 🫶🏽
I would love to hear how, and you might have this one another video. About how you harvest and where you cut on your vegetables & herbs so to harvest what u need, but no harm the plants or growth there of... the plants. Those green stalks are very nice I wish I could afford one..
Alot of what your growing can be grown all year. Micro greens is a great way. But also having herbs inside with a led growing light does a great job.
Great video! Thank you for sharing.
Sharing, great idea
I am new to your site. I really like your content and how you not only mentioned tips on how to grow things, but you provide recipes too.
I love your channel. It's so imspiring.
I always love a great stumble upon channel. I love your energy, you’re a great narrator and you packed some great ideas in this video. Cheers from a new subbie.
Just changed my life with basil sugar. Off to try it.
Fantastic video!!! Thanks so much for the quality of information you took time to share! Just subscribed.
I really enjoy watching your videos. I so look forward to watching your creativity and large spirit! You really help me to see what I could really do. I wish you could post more! Keep them coming!
Hi Barbara! Thank you for the encouraging words, my friend! Yes, I wish I could post more too :). Shifting my mindset from thinking that "there's so little" I can do in a small space, to actually embracing that there are many projects to keep me busy between a small backyard and (mostly) from scratch kitchen have truly taught me that scaling my way to a larger homestead and using the time I have now, without the maintenance of a farm, is a true blessing. I'll get there one day, but the daily journey, even as a homestead dreamer, is very, very fulfilling! I wish the same for you!
Stumbled across your channel by chance….I’ve been thinking about starting a garden for years but didn’t think I had the time and didn’t know where to begin. This has inspired me to start a vertical garden. Thanks!! 💗
Your garden is beautiful and I love the way you talk😊
You are my new best friend girl! I am super excited to find this channel! I really want to use my patio space well and get some great foods growing asap. Im about to order a greenstalk, thjs will also excite my kids about growing a garden too!
Love this video. Great information. Thanks😊
WOW! You go girl! ~a grandma watching from Norfolk, Virginia~ P.S. I've subscribed!😘
Always love your content! You forgot the recipes in the description box?
Thank you! Oh no, I’ll add them now! Thanks for checking!
Hi Cassandra! We live on 17 acres but I still grow in Greenstalks and love them! I use the original one for my bush beans and peas, and the Leaf planter for my lettuces and herbs. This way, I can move them around into the sun or shade as needed, and don’t have to take up one of my garden beds for those things ❤
I think I'll inherit 2.5 and wanna do this. Ground gardening would make the animals roam! The place is a woodsy area, you would bro ably have a bear pissing on. your tomatoes😂
Wow do you offer cooking lessons on zoom! This is so cool I’m so happy I find this ❤❤❤
Thanks!
😅this is AMAZING now I want to try with on my balcony!!! I always thought I needed land, well until God blesses me with it I will be using other alternatives!
Amen! You said it honey! I’m in the same boat and I cannot tell you how much of a joy it’s been knowing that I can still grow a substantial amount of herbs, greens and veggies right on my deck with a GreenStalk vertical planter! You’ve got this!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl I see that it’s a joy! Your vertical garden is so beautiful! 😍 and your herbs and veggies look so vibrant and organic! I have to subscribe to see more 👏🏽💓
your the best !
💐 appreciate the share .
I am so glad that I found your channel Cassandra! Healthy, clean and fresh ingredients for all !
Hi you truly inspire me to get started.. Thank you
Love the vertical garden container! I’ve been container gardening on my small deck for years. I’ll have to try one these, will take up less space, thanks🥰love your channel ❤️
