Thanks! As a largely solo player, with a shelf full of rules-heavy games, I sometimes like to add my own trackers to games, to keep everything straight.
THANK YOU FOR THESE VIDEOS!!! I was wrestling with the rulebook for ages but you presented the mechanics so clearly and understandable that I can confidently dive into my copy that arrived yesterday!
I am not going to lie, I feel overwhelmed. I've played heavy games like Twilight Imperium, Mage Knight, Through the Ages, ect. and yet for some reason I still feel this way. It may be all the terminology, or maybe I just have to start actually playing the game to get the hang of things.
IMHO, it's not as rules-heavy as this video makes it seem. The Quick Reference is great, and you just focus on one action at a time. After your first couple of rounds, it starts to flow more smoothly. Good luck!
Personally, I find the game design very intuitive after watching this video series. God knows I was intimidated when I first unboxed it. Also I own Deep Madness-and even with the update kit it’s still a potpourri of tokens. I guess DOM is a ‘potpourri’ of card types, which I seem to like better. Very excited after watching this video, unboxing and reading. Thus far my only grief is how lame this insert is, but I guess it’s an opportunity to make a custom insert for each of the 5 boxes in the main box. My only other issue was that my inner box was cracked at the top :( I’ll just fix it myself… Otherwise I’m really happy this delivered. I’ve only had 1 game not deliver and it was a reprint-damn Village Attacks sequel 😢
I'm the same. Been watching video after video and nothing is sticking. I don't know why cos i really want ro start playing! I've watched this part 2 video about 10 times so far 🤦🏼♂️
@@simonh2011 Sometimes the best approach is to just start playing. I like to frame my first game as a tutorial, and give myself permission to make mistakes, overlook rules, etc. The serious, tactical games can come later! 🤔
Amazing video, thank you so much, i really wanted to late pledge for the game as i love the theme and minis, also thought it might play good for solo play. However, all the videos i saw were very confusing and just made the game seem impossible to understand! Your videos on the other hand really made easier to understand the rules and even made me more excited to late pledge and get the game! The animations and close up views you add to these videos really help understand the rules so much better. Although there are still alot of components in the game and it seems rather daunting and cumbersome to handle for solo play, from your video i think ive understood the majority of them and the remaining will make more sense when i actually get the game and play it!
Thank you so much for this very entertaining teach :) There is nothing like a bit of fun while learning :D Love the game already because of you ^^ Hope it gets here soon.
I was SO lost after reading the instructions and trying to dive in...this video is essential! Also where can one purchase the 'cute' abomination lineage expansions? 😀
Although I'm a fan of the game, I've tried to keep my opionions to myself (because I'm not a reviewer, I haven't played it enough, and the publisher sent me a copy). But I'm sure there will be loads of reviews coming very soon (from people a lot more qualified than me).
@@adventuresincreativesoftwa6283 I respect that, I am just debating whether to late pledge now. I love horror but if the gameplay is cumbersome, it can be a hurdle for enjoyment. I will keep a close eye to the reviews and rewatch your content, cheers!
@mel_from_hell If you want to hear other opinions, I can share my experience. My friend and I just played for the first time today. I'm a big horror fan and that was the main reason for buying DoM. I was a bit worried that it would be too complicated, and in the beginning, it was to an extent. We just set the game up and then went over the rules as we played each step. It made it easier to understand, but we still had to flip back and forth in the rule book to find deeper explanations. After playing for a few hours, we pretty much understood everything, but then watching this tutorial video, learned that we made a couple of mistakes because the rule book didn't make certain things clear. With that said and having all of the knowledge needed, it's not so hard to learn and worth the purchase. I'm already looking forward to our next session.
@@The_Mentalist_Reyka Thank you very much Erica, I really appreciate your insight! Please keep us updated as you progress in the campaign! (from the terrified pic, I am sure you like horror haha)
After ive seen the rulebook and your 2 videos, one question im left with is surrounding when some of the investigator specific mechanics are used. Here i remember the treatment cards from Emily as an example. Are they only used when playing her scenario or are they used every time you play her? Same with bullets from Claude and if theres some similar things for the 2 others.
I believe that most wanderer-specific components (such as the ones you mentioned) are only used when they're the central wanderer. But I notice that Lynas's starting Existence card refers to his Faith tokens, so I guess it depends. Hope this helps.
@@adventuresincreativesoftwa6283 cool thanks :) Dont know whether you have the stuff yet. But if you do? How much difference are there on the different wanderers if you disregard the central wanderer. So lets say im playing Emily's story, will it be very similar for the players playing Claude and Lynas or are the ability cards different enough that it feels different
I hope dimension games features this video on a QR code in the rulebook or website! This is a must watch!
Very nice and informative! Your "once per turn" tokens are a great little addition too!

@@jonatan2969 I suspect the different Existence decks, starting attributes and starting cards will give them a slightly different flavour.
