  • 4wding - Creekside camping - No low range, how steep can it climb?
    I have driven the X-trail up a lot of very steep hills but I must say, I was still impressed. Having an automatic transmission really helps if you don't have low range gearing.
    Took my eldest daughter camping this time. Absolutely stunning spot by the creek. Loved it!

    Hello from Romania, first of all I'd like to thank you for your BogOut review it convinced me to get one :) Second, that steep climb at the beginning (the one that scared your passenger) looked doable, I'd give it a shot on my Suzuki Ignis AllGrip, don't get me wrong what I'm trying to say is that AWD vehicles are so underrated. Everyone thinks you need a Land Cruiser on 35's to explore the wilderness. Third, we got an AWD vehicle Romanian made under Renault supervision, that has the X-trail's AWD system mounted on, but it's a lighter vehicle. Folks out here go with it (Dacia Duster it is called) on very rough terrain and it does very well. Many happy kilometers with your X-trail! Cheers mate 😊

      Yes I get what you mean about AWD capability.
      I know about the Dacia, in fact it has a LSD rear diff that should slip into the Xtrail.

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, there is no way as the Xtrail doesn't have a chassis so there is no separation between the chassis and tbe body. It is all in one.

    • @walterjimenez5748
      @walterjimenez5748 5 месяцев назад

      @@ruggedlife Hello, I understand that the Xtrail T30 does not have a compact chassis, the intention is to place a 4cm rear lift kit on the top base of each shock absorber, to gain ground clearance to the differentials. It's possible ?. Greetings and thank you.

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  5 месяцев назад +1

      @walterjimenez5748 Oh I see. To be honest I don't know. I haven't heard of anyone doing it. What I can advise you is to not exceed a total lift of 2" on the front due to the angle of the CV joints which will shorten the life of it. You can increase it more on the back but I wouldn't raise the back too high in comparison with the front as this will imbalance the car.

      There's a pull out tab at the rear of the seats the lower bit. Pull it and the lower seat folds out towards the back of the front seat and drops down. I found mine last week after owning my T31 for four years!. Do this and the whole back compartment is dead flat and comfortable to sleep on.

    Love your work. Just a thought however. I noticed you were using cotton balls to help start your fires. if you give them a small smear of vaseline, massage it through the cotton ball thoroughly, pull it apart as per usual it would only take a small spark from your ferro rod to ignite.
