We need more shows like this now. These old shows raised me! Not my missing dad or even my crazy mother helped with anything other than keeping my head on a swivel! The Rifleman, Andy Griffin, and these older shows with values always had a meaning that you could learn from.

If you have a Roku tv or device, you can watch Family Affair on there for free. There are I think 5 seasons. I've been watching it, and it brings back so many memories. I was a kid watching that show, and as an adult, I realize just how amazingly cute those two little kids were.

Always loved this show. Takes you back to a carefree time. The 60's, 70"s aura and subject matter a home run. Feel good t.v. is rare now. With the 🌎 in chaos- I appreciate shows like this. The Monkees, Bewitched also. All great actors. Wish Antenna t.v. would get New old shows like this!

This show sold me at the intro of how I preceded a father and son relationship should be. Fortunately, my family had a TV when I was 5 y/o because, Eddie's reality wasn't mines. But I was able to be the best dad I could to my son!

I'm about to cry 😢I have not heard this song in 50 years. I just remembered the name for some reason so I came to hear the song. WOW 🎉Saturday nights. Then the hulk. This guy had two different shows back to back on a Saturday night. You don't get more wholesome than bill Bixby. First he'd be real good, then he kicks ass.

yeah.. I am 51 and think about the show often. It was probably in syndication when I watched it in the late 70's but I have very good memories of those years.

FWIW, Bill Bixby also had another show in-between (73-74, NBC) called “The Magician.” He played David Blake, a playboy philanthropist and stage magician who, on the side, solves crimes and helps the helpless. Hokey as it sounds, the backstory helps … but I won’t spoil it for you. 😉 The show still has many devoted fans and is notable because, aside from the pilot, Bixby actually performed all of the magic seen in each episode. Unlikely to find it streaming, but it was finally released on home video a few years back.
(And of course, if you want a real blast from the past, tune in to Bill Bixby’s earliest hit, “My Favorite Martian,” which is almost always streaming somewhere. 😄)

Among other things, Brandon Cruz went on to be a singer and for a few years now he's supposedly been trying to raise the funds to get Bill Bixby a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. (I use the word "supposedly" only because the longer it drags on, the more I start wondering how about the setbacks Brandon announces always seem to call for a little bit more donation. Then again, I find it very believable that the Hollywood Walk of Fame would be run by greedy people who would keep raising the cost and requirements.)

Reflecting back not sure why COEF never got accolades. Back then there was so much saturation of shows on TV and mostly hit shows one after another. How about Nanny and the Professor That Girl just so many shows. Friday night on ABC in the late sixties early seventies was amazing. And at the end of the night we had In Concert with live concerts that were simulcast on FM radio. Not saying the best years for music and TV but if not first than second. Also add the fact that all the viewers were watching the shows on real time. Not happening now.

Miyoshi Umeki played Mrs. Livingston on the show. She was an Oscar Winning actress, having won a best supporting actress Oscar for the movie Sayonara; starring alongside Marlon Brando. In real life the actress spoke perfect English; but she had to speak pigeon English for this part; due to Hollywood stereotyping. The exact same thing happened to Pat Morita on Happy Days.

For some reason, I don't remember this being the name of the sitcom? I thought it was just "Eddie's Father" (or something like that).
Was it always "The Courtship of Eddie's Father"? That just doesn't sound right to me??

Not sure why the name it has always had sounds wrong to you. Maybe your family only referred to it by a shortened version of the name and as a kid you didn't realize that wasn't the full name?

Bill Bixby still doesn't have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Although Brandon Cruz has raised the necessary funds, his name has to be selected. Brandon wants to hire a PR firm, but YOU CAN HELP. Please mail your thoughts on bill and his need for a star to: Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, 6255 Sunset Blvd #150, Hollywood, CA 90028
