Chic designer? Beauty contestant? Headstrong neighbor lady? Picking between them is a tricky decision, so it's a good thing Eddie's in charge of the picking for his widowed dad. Vincente Minnelli directs Ron Howard and Glenn Ford in the family classic film that mixes mirth and heartache in its portrait of a boy intent on forcing his father to accept loss and move on. Shirley Jones, Dina Merrill and Stella Stevens play Eddie's prospects. Mark Toby's novel would also provide the basis for the later beloved Bill Bixby television series.
    Directed By Vincente Minnelli
Starring Glenn Ford, Shirley Jones, Stella Stevens

Truly shows the brilliance of the child actor, Ron Howard and kudos to his parents. Rance Howard plays the counselor at the camp. What a great trainer of young talent Ron's parents were. He has given many memorable performances!

The only scene that kept me from giving the movie a 10 out of 10, not because it's bad but because of that forced fight, it wasn't necessary to shout so much to show offense at the offer of money, but I assume it was the style of the time, acting and subtle dialogue is more of a thing of today.

Another bad 60's movie, too much screaming and overacting, and Ford was terrible choice to play a young father.

He was the first choice to play Uncle Bill on Family Affair. He turned it down. Glad he did. Wrong for the part of Uncle Bill and wrong choice here
