I've been spending most of my time over the past few weeks composing, as well as revisiting some older compositions. Here's an update to one of my oldest pieces entitled 'The River' 🙂

It was written quite a long time ago originally, but if remember right I basically started in DADGAD and adjusted the tuning to enable the pattern in the introduction, freeing up my left hand for melodies higher up the neck. Rather than put the guitar into a new tuning and try to use it, the most useful tunings come from adjusting to enable certain things for me personally. It was initially DADEF#C#, hence closer to DADGAD, but I tuned it up a whole tone for this recording as it always ended up sounding floppy and tired.
This is such a beautiful peace of art. I could listen to this 1000 times and still want to listen to it more

You wrote this by yourself? Its so pretty!!! Its called the river, but to me, it felt less like being on the river, and more like on the shore with friends, watching it flow by. Maybe like a fishing trip with Dad? Makes me feel very calm and happy.
Drifting down a lazy, slow river in a canoe, paddle idle while leaning back to relax near the end of a warm summer day. The fish are feeding and occasionally leaping out of the water...birds catching their last meals, the sun is beginning to dip low. I am relaxed, ready to tie to a dock and go have a relaxed evening around a campfire, laughing with friends...the river rippling in the background ....ready to take us for a gentle journey again the next day.

Love this tune!! I am about to order the tab but one quick question, if I may.....you said you originally wrote the tune in DADGAD but modified it somewhat for this video. I just tried to play along with this video in DADGAD and it wasn't even close.
My question is, will the tab I am about to purchase match up to this video's tuning? If not, the tab will not do me any good since I don't know the melody in DADGAD.as you originally wrote it....please enlighten me.

I didn't write the piece in DADGAD, someone asked how I came up with the tuning. I started in DADGAD and adjusted the tuning from there to end up in DADEF#C#, which for this version I tuned up a tone to EBEF#G#D# for more clarity.

After 2 years of playing classical music this piece came perfectly in time after "finishing" Prelude in D major, BWV 1007 (the practice for this piece never ends). The piece is so refreshing and I'm happy that I can use my acoustic guitar again after such a long time.
