  • It's another productive day here at Hiltz Auto Co... Doug is applying the windshield with screws (very nerve-wracking) while Bad Chad modifies a set of 1948 Pontiac tail lights to fit. Meanwhile, Nathan is working on the steering 👏

You certainly don’t need to make it the way I like it, I’ll watch regardless. But I think it’d be pretty sweet if you’d make a beauty ring to go around the windsheild that hides the screws and wraps around the edge of the lexan. Then match it to the cars patina. Done right most folks would never notice it’s screwed on. Just a suggestion though. Keep doin it how you like it!
Rip some angle iron lengthwise so it’s more like an “L” with the small lip just big enough to cover the lexan edge and butt up against the car. Radius the outside corner all around and make a trim ring out of that. Weld a few threaded studs to the inside of that, which would pass through a few seam-sealed holes with a nut on the inside of the car. Or put a gasket around that too.

So you have all kinds of car parts in your yard. Why didn’t you take a radiator hose barb off a radiator in your yard of parts and install/ solder on your top tank so the flathead radiator hoses could be installed the stock way. You always preach about using what you have instead of spending money. Well the copper pipe and fittings cost you money and if you would have taken a part from your yard of parts it would’ve cost you nothing.

I like how yesterday, the Great Bad Chad was trying to get Doug to make precision shavings down to a hair. Then today we get to the holes and they are drilled willy-nilly making it look like a true amateur, half-ass effort and result. Cheap doesn't have to look cheap, but it does here. Chad and Jolene , Things are getting closer to completion of the 1934 Dodge Hot Rod Coupe. It's like the Old Johnny Cash Song building the old Cadillac one piece at a time. From available parts you have in the shop and the storage buildings. The grille is a Chevy the Engine is a flathead Ford , the driver's is out of a MGZ , the tail lights are out of 1948 Pontiac. The steering column and steering wheel look like there out of an old 1920's /30's Ford truck.. Nate will resurrect the steering column and knuckle installation. i appreciate Chad's comment that once Doug is done with his part with windshield that he'll go around the perimeter with seam sealer. Once the interior is completed It'll need to be cleaned up to meet Jolene's standards. Or she could invest in a light weight coveralls to match he racing helmet.
