Most of the times Majima is like your Nagataro pfp, crazy and playful.
But when he gets his shit together for once, he aint Nagataro-like anymore, instead a ruthless but badass as hell assassin.
THIS is why I love Majima's different personality swaps
Majima never kill e.e
This is why that I love that his final boss theme for the Majima Saga isn't a Receive You remix. It's like he's someone completely different now that Ibuchi's offed one of HIS boys.
In Yakuza 0, Majima embraces his inner Mad Dog
In Majima Saga, he embraces his inner Lord of the Night
Underrated
He becomes a full being in at the end of Kiwami 2 tbh. That's what I love about Majima. He's a really well written character so far.
In his old workplace no less.
And in the Cabaret Grand, no less.
I actually appreciate Kei Ibuchi not looking like some hard semi-fantasy full-body tattooed monster of a man, but someone who could basically be your very own lawyer.
Someone looking like him, often described as "lame", pulling off these moves with a handgun in high speeds, THAT is badass and a true testament to the fact that not everything is what it looks like.
Especially in the criminal underworld.
fr ibuchi one of my favourite bosses in Yakuza
He is such a well written, short time antagonist. His plan is so simple, many other antagonists in Yakuza had similiar plans, but it's Ibuchi that I actually started to despise and wanted to stop him, whatever it takes.
He is just a classic villain
Pretty much this. His design gives off what he represents. He's just a man obsessed with money and will do anything scummy to get to the top.
To quote Date from Yakuza 3 when mentioning Yoshitaka Mine: "He's basically a white collar yakuza.".
Despite how short this little story segment about Majima was, I enjoyed it because of what it manages to add about Majima. That cold, focused stare at the beginning is definitly the look he shows a lot back in Yakuza 0, but with much more experience. Majima is an accomplished veteran yakuza, yet he is able to live to the fullest while still staying true to who he truly is, which is something not many characters in the series are actually able to do. And now, the guy is finally free from his regrets since he finally got some closure with Makoto, making him able to truly reconcile his olf self with his mad dog persona. The fact that he is "above" Ibuchi on this screen shows that, no matter how the criminal underworld will change, Majima will always stay true to himself and come out on top, essentially for this very reason. Even if he becomes the head of a Construction team
Ok now that he's slightly more sane, does he remember how shirt buttons work?
@@mrcenturies1820 no
I really loved the Majima saga in this game because of the closure with Makoto. It seriously nearly brought me to tears when Makoto went on to reminisce about 0, and how Majima still felt about that. To me, that small segment alone was worthy the entire remake.

He had 2 actually, you fought Kawamura right before this. Although this is the only new track in the whole DLC.
I forgot about the random battle theme he got lol.

If you compare ibuchi's moveset against any other gun moveset, even kiryu's, you will see that most of his moves are melee-ranged gun kata. The weapon you use is not the final word on the range at which you fight at. Majima's summon in 7 starts at range(throwing daggers), only getting up close for the finisher. The buildup of Yakuza's bosses is second to none.
I like to think that this fight is sort of a microcosm of each character's views regarding the yakuza world.
For Majima, the personal ideal is more important than anything else, to be true to oneself, to protect those you need to, and to better oneself to weather any situation. I wouldn't go as far to say that Majima values honor highly, but he does follow his own personal code, one that he will not break for anything, including his own best friends.
For Ibuchi, the bottom line is all that matters, who cares what you do or who you do it to, when at the end of the day the end result is there. He cares about the money, and even during the conversation before the fight he goes on a tirade about how Majima's view of the world is "outdated", and how money and power is all that matters in the modern day.
Their weapons and attire reflect this.
Majima wields his classic tanto blade, a melee weapon where you _must_ get close, you _must_ be good at it to use it with any sort of effectiveness, and more importantly, its a very old form of weapon dating back to Feudal Japan, representing that he _does_ have a somewhat old viewpoint. His attire can be viewed as tacky and outdated, a relic of a bygone age of yakuza.
Ibuchi on the other hand wields a modern handgun, a cold weapon where you functionally just pull a trigger and can kill anything it's pointed at, anyone could use it, but more importantly, it's the weapon of the current age, representing that he has transcended the dated view of an honorable yakuza, and became more of a realist, looking at the logical side of it. His attire can be viewed as conventional and conforming, adapting to the modern age practices of business and capital.
They're both yakuza, but from different times. Majima sees the emotional side of it, while Ibuchi sees the logical side. While Ibuchi is functionally just a guy with a gun, he's still actually a technical fighter, more than holding his own against Majima. They're both technically correct, and neither can fully say that one can exist without the other because they can't. You can't have a criminal organization without money and brains, but you also can't have a criminal organization without ideals and skill. Majima can't be a head of a family without paying his underlings, he can't feed them on ideals alone. Likewise, Ibuchi can't fully say that the old age of yakuza is over, when he's fully capable and _skilled_ even at getting into it and getting his hands dirty himself. Both value one more than the other, and their methods of combat reflect it.
Well said brother. Very well said.
This is actually a good point.
It’s also why the track’s name is Update With Gunfire.
this comment goes so hard, well done
Not to mention you can hear a blend of old school instruments ( the strings) and the modern tech instruments, which further adds to your point.
The music, voice acting and choreography are all so good. But let's just take a second to appreciate how they took the effort to time both the gunshots and Majima drawing his dagger with the bass drum and opening cresendo respectively

Anyone notice Ibuchi's expression throughout the dynamic intro? His stance at first looks arrogant, thinking he'd won, but he looked shocked when Majima dodges his shot and attacked him with that cold stare. He looks surprised again when Majima dodged the second shot point blank, and he's grimacing when he caught his gun with his left hand. It's almost like he realized his plan won't go as smoothly as he would've liked and Majima turns out to be a dangerous opponent that he's not ready to face.

It's because the current Yakuza operates like that so it's something they try to tackle in the latest entries. Someya was the perfect character for that type of ideology IMO, would have preferred if he would have become playable too, but you know....
Cause modern day yakuza are just that. They're businesses. The guys that want them to go to modern times are just adjusting to things changing. Its honestly the smartest way to go about things. When times change you either adjust and go with the flow or you resist and get left behind. Guys like Ibuchi are just doing what they think the yakuza need to thrive in more modern society.
