Some believe that early predictors of serial killers can be found in just 3 behaviors. Today we’ll be diving into the Macdonald Triad Theory. A concept first introduced by psychiatrist John Macdonald in his 1966 publication titled The Threat to Kill.

Familiar with the Triad but not by the McDonald name. Very familiar with a case in Glendale, AZ where a 14 year old boy killed his adoptive parents and sister, who was also adopted. Roger Helm Jr. Roger was adopted as an infant, even named after his father. When very young he began starting fires and torturing pets and stray animals. He was so incorrigible that his parents had to reduce the size of his bedroom window to keep him from running out at night committing crime. It seems he ran the household. He was given a car at age 14 when the age allowed to drive was and is 16. He was obsessed with skateboarding on a huge curved ramp his dad had built for him. He would skate repetitively for 8 hours a day on that ramp. Clearly he exhibited all signs of becoming a murderer. Was convicted in, I believe, 1984.
One other thing you will find alot of these serial killers have in common is the use of p*rn. Many of them got into p*rn at a very young age.

I believe these 3 main theories are more inclined to be based on severe childhood trauma hence why they are acted out even into adulthood. These examples barely scratch the surface of potentially becoming a serial killer. It is far more COMPLEX than that. Far more deconstruction, analysis, examination, assessments, investigation and study of the brain/ mind are exceedingly and greatly needed before we even begin to understand these perplexing cases in human beings.

Very interesting. I heard bits and pieces of this over the years but never looked into it. Personally I loved fires and burning things and I also wet the beds til I was like 13 but I would never hurt an animal on purpose and have no desire to ever become a serial killer 😂 I'm just a very anxious and depressed person lmao
