Every time I see a Cities skylines video, the creator always use move it! I really think they should add this mod to the game, as an ingame vanilla feature.
Hopefully some of the mods will become part of base cities skylines 2.
I've been saying that forever, lol
@@w1redonkey I hope that too
@@mattheweble5550 nice
Traffic manager too
The sloping mechanism of the multitool is far more effective to the moveit one. There is also the ability to create parallel streets. Highly recommended.
With move it you can undo if something doesn't work out or look right. Lol I always use Move it first and finish up with Multitool.
The one thing I wish network multitool had is a "smooth" function that didn't alter the general height of the nodes but still flattened some of the messy angles. Sort of like a soften terrain tool but for networks.
This is so great! Just as I loaded up the game for the first time in 6 months you come with an inspiration! I was about to focus my build around a rail line, thought of doing a rural build, but I've mostly done these the last few times, so maybe I'll start with a big city...
I love drawing the road layout first. This makes so much sense, really need to do it this way for a change!
New sub from Auckland New Zealand! Im so excited for this series. I work in the CBD and already notice points of inspiration! So excited :)
The map choice is very good!
Great map choice ;)
So glad I was recommended your channel! 😊 I think you’re going to enjoy working with network multitool a bit more as it has some really nice features as sloping, parallel networks etc ☺️
I just want to also inform you that when you use node controller the lines should not be red, it creates some problems with the flow.. I saw this in a few places on the interchange when you used node controller, hope that helps!
Heard of your work before, even seen some of your work highlighted in the past. This is my first time subscribing to your channel, and to be perfectly honest this series is the reason why. I love it when content creators kinda come down to our level so to speak. It helps us to see that it’s okay if we can’t play with a lot of assets, that it’s okay if we can only use a few mods. But it also teaches me many different things I can do even within certain constraints to still capture realism despite having to play vanilla or vanilla+ so to speak. So I really look forward to your work. Awesome start, awesome map, again looking forward to the series. And I agree about the FPS thing haha I tried playing heavily modded for the last several months…it was addicting, but I find more enjoyment in the vanilla+ style and have gone back to that to finish out CS1. Plus it’s a relief not having to worry about the game breaking on me or my computer blowing up 😂
I live in Auckland, NZ and I must say i'm impressed about this map! quite a good replica. Can't wait to see the city grow! P.S Auckland has absolutely trash public transportation so I hope this city doesn't copy this aspect lol
agree, i live in north shore and the traffic is suck
@yourlocalwiseguy That's a fucked question mate
yeah bro i live half an hour out having to take buses into the city is shit
Excited to see what you do on this map. When you’re using the node controller and the lines turn red, it means you’re too close to another node and your cims will get confused navigating those.
Exited for this series because this is exaxtly how i play the game on my somewhat decent computer: a good handful of mods and assets. Cant wait to see where this is going.
I never thought that watching a guy build roads and train lines for 20 minutes could be entertaining, but here we are
I'll be honest when I saw the name Rockport I immediately got NFS:NW vibes. Looking forward to how this map pans out 👊
I never placed the resemblance..... suppose I...nfs... really went down hill super fast in to a junk.... would Try again. Nfs was one of my favorite arcade type race games.
For the smaller cities on the side maybe you could speciallise each in one industry, I think it can work pretty well
When I’ve seen Rockport, I was thinking maybe recreating the city from Need for Speed Most Wanted back in the day 😆
🤣
same tbh
You know it’s an actual city in Texas
gosh darnit -- I may have to add this to me watchlist. I was going to focus on your CS2 series, but this map looks phenomenal!
Honestly that whole relatability thing you were on about is so cool of you because I play on a potato and I can barely even run the base game so it’s awesome I can take inspiration from your city
I appreciate that you include your mod list in the description. Been wanting a good list for a vanilla plus type build.
cool format! excited to watch this series
Good first episode! I don’t even play this game but enjoy watching builds. Just subbed!
I really love this Idea of yours, i can build cities in cities skylines and i love to watch content creators build beautiful cities like yours. I wish i could build like this but that wont probably happen. Keep going and most important, have fun building!
I'm new here and I loved this episode ❤ looking forward for the next one! 🔥
New subscriber. Looks like this is going to be a fun series. Excellent map. Totally onboard with establishing much of the rail networks at the very beginning. The most absurd thing about going through the milestones is not having rail from the beginning. I hope you stick with your plan of running a functional city by providing services and meeting demands. For me, that always adds another layer of interest.
Thanks for the sub! I agree, rail should be available from the start lol
You need to draw lane connections so the Sims don't change lanes like they are on that highway. Cool map and I might try it out.
What is the maps name
@@wolf-studio-Check the videos description
Excited for this!
looks great!
Ahhh the glorious Lafontaine tunnel interchange... They recently started repairing the tunnel and the lane configuration has gone completely bananas with construction
Loved that shout out to Montreal! We've got some really wonky roads here
cool cant wait for episode 2
Hello! Loved this map, it's really great for building a nice city, especially if you play without infinite money/all milestones unlocked. I just wanted to point out that trains require VERY subtle slopes, especially cargo trains. It's not a big problem, but if you can, make sure to slope rails over long distances.
new subscriber, RUclips just recommend your video and I am so glad! I have some suggestions: maybe you can incorporate a canal sistem around the old town and make it bigger. Also you should think about pedestrians, green spaces and bike lanes for a future people friendly downtown.
Dawg, please keep up this format. I’m so happy you made a series with vanilla assets because, it’s a lot more interesting than City Planner Plays casually fixing traffic with 40 mods and talking about random stuff
Super Awesome to see this series, I play on the same map somtimes too! I would highly reccomend the theme mixer 2 theme, aswell as ~ULOD. Theres a map theme one-clickcollection that improves it ALOT! look at the screenshots on the steap post
I'm excited to see a new city!
Man I just missed the stream😢 great looking stuff!
I cant play cities skylines, but I cannot wait to try it out if I ever get a pc capable of running it. I feel that my insparation will run wild in this game considering I am an archi student. Loving the start of the city hope this series continues and does well
Nice!
Network Multi-tool's parallel networks (i.e. not just roads, but rails and quays) and slope are two of the best functions ever added.
Damn. I drive into that interchange everyday! It takes like 2hrs to go on the Montreal's south shore. I was surprise to see it in your video
As an Aucklander I recommend: dreadful public transport connections, lack of public utilities, poor road networks that are congested almost all the time, excessive taxes to make sure everyone is unhappy all the time, a clogged and overworked port that cannot take cruise ships and oh lots of water pollution. If you get that you are sweet on the money!
Thank you for sharing this - I just stumbled across your channel and I like your content. It's great to see other citybuilders watch playing cities skylines. What are your expectations when it comes to skylines 2?
"Starting a realistic city" *moves a bridge legs away*
"This will be a vanilla build using no mods" Literally seconds later...."I will be using about 20 mods..." hahaha don't I get it, i'm only joking. I'll be watching your series!
I just finished my realistic city using this map recently and it was so much fun the city turned out great
Watching the Timeister build roads is my favourite form of therapy
I really like the layout you did, but I think the placement of the train station is kinda weird. You said you want to have a look, that the train station was very early there, but its so far away from the old town, and kind of in a weird place on the edge of the town next to the industries.
It's my favorite shoe brand..Love it!
This is more than impressive.
I love watching CS tutorial/build vids. interesting- the name of my street i live on is Rockport. so while looking for a new series to get comfy with, this def caught my attention.
Hello from Rotorua, New Zealand
As someone from Auckland New Zealand, in comparison to the actual rail lines we have, yours are way better. Much more future planning and corridor preservation on your end than we have here. We also have freight running on the same lines as our passenger trains.
The Interchange you refer to is actually located on Montreal's South Shore, in a town called Longueuil :)
Nice to see randomly pop out a reference to something that's somewhat close to where I live, if you really want to imitate the Montreal experience, try building the Turcot interchange or the Saint-Pierre interchange, huge and a bit sterile 😅
aye lets go im from new zealand glad someone did something on new zealand
There is no under ground road into the down town in Auckland, there is a very short tunnel section that connects from the highway that comes off the harbor bridge to the southern motorway so motorists can bypass the CBD. The highway that leads to downtown goes straight through the port area and continues into a coastal road.
awesome city start. i subbed
Thank you! :)
@@Timeister I’m thinking of buying the game so do u have any advice?
All i can think of now is Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005 the city in that game was called Rockport
Heavily modded and plopping but with vanilla buildings is my favorite playstyle. Plus, I'm making my city on the same map. I'm super excited!!!!
When You said Rockport,it came to mind to me NEED FOR SPEED MOST WANTED YOU KNOW.
I see Rockport as a city with blue water and palm trees.
@@robytherobotwhiteversion
I can't blame You,i'm a need for speed fan and anyone came to mind diferent things when they said or hear rockport
When squaring off an intersection with the node controller, there a cross-hair looking symbol on the top right of the window. Use that instead of squaring off manually.
Use the multi tool to remove nodes that are real close (I eyeball it to be less than two grid units away). There should be a circle with a minis sign in the middle.
You could use the slope tool in the multi tool (should be a diagonal line with three points). I prefer it over move it because I can see slope percentages.
Concerning the rail lines exiting your mega station as well as for your expressway replacing Teddy's 2way 2lane highway, I would probably redo them using the parallel road option in the multi tool mod (symbol is two parrallel squiggles)
Edit: when doing on/off ramps , instead of adding more nodes close the intersection (which is confusing for car AI and bad for node limit/performance), use the node controller all while holding left shift, click the corner you would like to align to the ramp, then click the far corner on the ramp.
Edit 2.0: IIRC the two, stacked parallelograms in moveit allow you to easily match two nodes heights by clicking the elevated/depressed node , clicking the set-to-height button, and finally clicking the good node.
Edit 3.0: there a hundreds of keyboard shortcuts that you can use depending on which mods' window is open. I'd recommend spending a solid 30 minutes just practicing how and when to use them; this will save you immeasurable amounts of time in the future.
I just started a city on the same map a few weeks ago. It's a good one!
Pure heat 🔥
this is the least vanilla city skyline game play, good job either way
Nice
nice!
is the updated map with your networks going to be uploaded? I wanted to learn from it. looks so good. I'm still kind of new.
In node controller (ctrl N) when you click the intersecting roads click the cross shape symbol at the very top right of the node control menu and it will auto square off your edges. If the square is red when it should be green then pull it slightly so that traffic isnt affected. lastly try not to slant an intersecting road at its node, try to start the slope from its own node as youll get more control over how it looks in the end.
You know the belvita add where the dude runs into the glass wall. That happened to me today. Should’ve never laughed at him.😂
Awesome Interchange at 11:20, and I'm running CS with almost 500 mods, and 2500+ Assets, Runs like a dream. Should never have preordered CS2
Wow das ist eine richtig große Map 😮
Very nice! Can we get a mod list?
Hi friend! Just a heads up in case it hasn't been said yet, think there may be something funky going on at 14:50 with the way all the cars are stopping to merge two lanes over. silly sims lol might need to restrict their lane movement
0:44 What a beautiful interchanger oh my god, jus look at it!
Nice vid
Rockport is such a nice name.
Knew Teddy Radko was involved in the map from the thumbnail. His DNA is all over it. Beautiful map.
Houston, Texas also has a downtown area with its grid like streets.
I got so happy when u said auckland new zealand bc im from nz
Its nice rhat you're using less mods but I play on Xbox and geez do I wish I had that kind of control when building
Nice. Which mods do you use in this video?
Cities: Skylines II on Steam looks AMAZING
❤❤❤
Do you have a list or some sort with the few mods you're using? cause i could really use some of them
Finally, someone using unlimited money!
Need to pick up the intersection marking tool if you don't have that yet.
Yup for sure I'll install it!
Nice I typed all off this with my nose
Yessir
YO LESH GO KIA ORA
i just clicked on this and you said were ilived haha
BROO, i took that interchange yesterday
Hey montreal! My city 😂 "la ville au cone orange"
Multitool’s slope feature is much better than move it, give it a try!
I live near this interchange in Montreal!
Auckland is an metropolitan area with almost 2m people
10:36, I personally think they should have a roundabout there
Who many rails do you want? YEEESSSS!!!! 😂😂😂
hello, what theme and LUT are you using? looks very real :)
I’d also like to know haha
I'm very curious if you can keep up with your vision ;)
Could you please add which mods for try to do something like you? That's very satisfy watching.
So cool I live in a city called rock port
Will you post save game for the series?
wow
Can you add some elements from Wellington New Zealand too?
