Runt is the official farm mascot. Thank you for sparing him, Mike. He will attract soft hearted kids and families that vacation on your homestead. Photos shall be taken as souvenirs. Maybe to go over him with a pressure washer on low, would be an idea.....Ranch Roundup time(?)
Of course it's essential travel! For your business, and for those who are fed. I have little patience for those who criticize the food production business with their mouths full. My days are becoming more ordinary each day. Thanks for helping me escape.
Can't believe some people would criticize you for taking animals to the slaughter house.....good video again Mike and great way to explain this without swearing....:)
Thanks so much for your explanation about "how you can do this," Mike! I'm one of the "I-don't-think-I-could-do-this" people, yet I can order a hamburger at a restaurant or have bacon with breakfast without connecting it to or picturing the animal. Again....I still don't know if I could do it, but I SO MUCH appreciate you and Erin for being able to do it and for giving your animals a good and caring life until it is their turn to leave. The ranch store sounds wonderful and you guys are awesome for taking care of your community!
Ms Cathy, I agree. I’m in the south but I’ve always lived in the big city. It’s really.....I dunno, calming? To see someone working...with care, providing us the things we’ve grown accustomed to having on our plates daily.
I think you treat your animals, with a good and genuine way. Your a good person, watch you regularly, excellent.blessings to you n your lovely family.🙏🏻🙏🏻😊😊🇬🇧
Much respect for you two. Not only are you helping to provide health food for family's, but just to escape the mindset an stop thinking about what's going on. Thank you.
Awe, I was sad for Runt. That his friends all went off and left him. But you did/do take excellent care of your animals. If Ohio was so far away Runt would have a home forever.
The question is disturbing...proof we really need to continue to educate the consumer as to where their food comes from. Right from the very start. Thank you very much Mike.
“Hmm I lost my bale”😂 I cant tell you how many times I’ve been driving the tractor not paying attention and I turn around and my plow isn’t in the ground.
Mike and Erin, I, like many others truly enjoy your videos and vlog. Now that many of us are home bound they give us a reason to see how others live and work. The two of you ( plus the kids of course) are an inspiration to us all. Your presentation is very professional and informative on how a working ranch operates. Thank You for the extra effort that you put into your postings.
Dad always raised irrigated crops on 600 Acres in Eastern Washington in the 50's and 60's and 70's. Along with that came 200 head of registered Black Angus cow and calf crops and he always raised 25 head of hogs for slaughter. Brings back good memories. I'm 69 and retired in upstate NY. Watch your progress every day.
You are a Great man Honering your father in laws life and legacy. Keep up the good work you and your wife are doing , raising your kids country . Honest hard work and good morals is what built this country. God Bless the family and the Ranch.
Hi Guys,You are doing a Good Thing for the Community and your family. If you had a Oil Well or two like the neighbors have, It would be Great Too. Thanks for the update.🇺🇸
Mike, that was a Very Good Explanation of How & Why you do this, & do it with Dignity. I"m sitting here with an 11-year-old, & the first thing I said was, How Well Those pigs Looked & How well They Listened to You when you asked them to Exit the trailer!! Great Job Mike
I was raised on where I as a child the live stock was to be food, we also named them, weren't a big producer just a family providing to make ends meet. I've lived the life and continue to so. I have a grandson that will experience all of living rural life has to offer. Love your videos.
Back a few decades ago when my kids raised pigs in 4H, I wanted them to get it that after all the care and going to the fair, the pigs would be food. So, the first year they named their pigs, “Bacon and Bits,” and the second year, “Pork and Chop.” This was especially important for them, because they were city kids with a new country Mom. Thanks for all you do to bring reality to raising food.
I am grateful that you and others are still on the job providing food and other essential goods and services. It wouldn't bother me if you simply ignored those that criticize you for doing this.
Hi again MIKE Beautiful day out there! Surely .makes the day go easier. Many people don't realize the difference it does make with the meat how the animals are fed and in what kind of circumstance. Stress filled conditions do make a big difference also. Once you've tasted the difference you'll know what that means... Truly Mike some of those types of questions can just be snarky and others because they just don't know or understand anything about raising food animals. Those questions really do open the door for educating which is a great thing for many reasons. You're absolutely doing what you do for the right reasons and in the best way possible!! So enjoy the calf check rides and will be happy as you and Erin to get the show on the road l!! Catcha next one!
i don't even eat meat but I love watching your videos, you look like you really do care about your animals and you treat them with respect, your providing food for families and it should be an essential service
Great video Mike, Thanks to all of you, for everything you are doing with these 30 days of daily vlogs look forward to this time everyday. Y'all Take Care & God Bless

cows never like having calves while there is a weather high...the next low they'll be popping them out...well that's how our cattle used to do it. All quiet on the warm sunny days that make calves jump right up and run like the wind. Drizzle, rain, snow, fog...that's the time for calving! Warmed many a calf up in the pick up, had one cow jump in the bed and stick her head through the sliding back glass, that got interesting in a hurry! Keep up the good work, y'all are the blessed ones, I know I sure do miss it.
I love bacon! Good job, thank you Mike . And I think we should thank the other farmers around the world who provide for us all through the year, after all, they are just trying to provide for their families as well, thank you.
A while back on Keeping it Dutch, he took a steer to have it processed. Someone actually commented: I don't know why you don't just go to the store and buy your meat. That way no animals have to die. 😱 I really hope that person doesn't multiply. Another good video, keep them coming.
"There is a gut pile behind every piece of meat" believe Nugent said it first. Better to have known the animal, how it lived, and what passed through those guts as opposed to just grabbing a Styrofoam tray and hoping for the best.
The public would really freakout if food was scarce. Too many people just think food will alway be there in the stores waiting for them. They really are too stupid to understand the supply and demand of goods scenario that society goes thru 24/7...365 days a year. I bet in the future you will be watching calfing via drones while you are in your recliner drinking coffee...nice video.
Ups he end up better than the rest with his own beg of food,,I hope he gets better,,n thank u for be so caring w/ur animals I really appreciated n make happy see tha there not only ur money bag,,but tha u CARE 4THEM, I SEE IT THA WAY U TALK TO THEM N CARE FOR THEM THANK UUUU
Mike look forward to the videos everyday . If runt eats that whole bag of food he is not going to be a runt much longer lol. You keep doing what you are doing for your family and your community and not worry about what other people think
Where do people think their meat comes from? Last I checked, it came from a ranch/ farm!! A stork does not swoop down and drop it in a meat market. You definitely are essential. And we should all honor you and your dedication for providing your community with the option to not only purchase meat from you but be blessed that it is available.God bless you and your family.Stay safe. Thank you #thankarancher #thankafarmer #showmesomecalvesplease
I'm happy to know that there are producers like you. I'm quite fond of eating meat, I know where it comes from, and appreciate it. I hope you can get through these difficult times and are able to grow the herd back to size.
Great work and I fully agree with everyone else that praises ya'll in how you treat the critters and how important they are for you and the consumers. I would suggest that you paint any and all pins, nuts and bolts that have a history of attempting to hide away, with bright orange fluorescent paint, which can more easily be spotted on dirt, mud or grass.
Processing day is difficult, and your doing a necessary job for feeding livestock and improving your land. I started doing this 3 years ago after not doing it for 8 years. I produce beef, pork, and lamb. The processor i use has a very good way of running their operation.
Definitely gotta try some of your beef jerky! I fell in love with your page, true, genuine, hard working American ranchers. I'm placing my order soon and cant wait to try it!! Please keep up all the good work
Hey Mike...You are the beginning of the food chain. You sir are essential and I think I can speak for many here by saying, we appreciate what you do and why you do it. I have a couple questions for you as well.... 1 - How are the rabbits doing? Have not seen them for awhile 2 - In the event of a tornado, do you have a basement shelter or other place to shelter in?
Great video as always, really enjoy watching your blogs hope you continue doing so. Sorry your losing sleep maybe skip a day to catch up. Have a great evening.
I noticed the bale come off, but just assumed that was part of the plan until you said something about it. Thanks for your contribution to the food supply chain. I work for a grocery store and I see the stress that is on the supply right now. I had the opportunity to listen in on some of the conference calls with the buyers getting creative with how to ship product more efficiently and diligently looking for other ways to keep Americans fed.
I love how you treat the animals. They live the best life. They are raised for a purpose. We raise chickens, they have an awesome life..... free range eating all the bugs and loving the sunshine. In the fall we butcher the boys. I know how they lived, I know how they died.
Hi Mike, Thanks for the footage of the drive. Wyoming is such a beautiful and diverse state to travel through. Having spent 11 yrs living there and many trips back to visit it's always amazes me with the varied landscape it possesses. Windshield time in Wyoming is truly "mindfulness" moments in the making.
You got me on the unicorn farts 😁 . i thank you for what you do for our economy with supplying meat for our familys even though i live here in upstate ny
Mike.... Your the first supplier in the food chain with those hogs. It definitely is Essential Travel just like the truckers who bring the food to our supermarkets.
I really am enjoying your daily vlogs. I’m sorry you’re loosing sleep but I’m still n NYC stuck in my apartment trying to do my part by boy getting the virus. I’m over 60 and have bronchitis so I’m it the at risk group. My children and grandchildren are in Kansas City area. My siblings are from KC, Wichita, Enid, Houston areas. So here in NYC I’m alone with texts and phone calls. Thank you so much for your work. I enjoy it so much and look forward to each and every one. Be safe!
Haven't been able to watch in a long time -- clicked the link this morning and it was like coming home. Hope all is well with you and yours! Thank you for all that you do!
People here in S/W Missouri are having a hard time finding meat. Could you please send one of those unicorns our way? LOL LOL!! Seriously, I remember the days of raising our own beef animals and Dad raised them with compassion and kindness, and I wonder if that made a difference in the high quality of the meat. I'd like to think so. No stress, better meat. Anyway, thanks for taking us along as you continue living your busy, normal life.
Mike, I'm a firm believer in naming and loving on the animals, it does make a big difference in the first part of freezer camp.😊👍. Hope Eein gets to see that first valve born or you might be in trouble this year🤣. Stay safe over there and keep the great videos coming👍
Thank you for the video I believe it is essential you are providing for your family and community and I would not be able to be a rancher because I make pets out of all critters but I am for ranchers and farmers and im behind you all with out you all this world would be in a lot worse place thank you again for the video and stay safe and healthy God bless you all
I am glad there are people like you left in the world increasing dominated by "factory farming". Those pigs live a great life until that one day. They are free to walk around and play, not confined indoors. The same for the few steers you raise for slaughter. If your viewers want to see contrast, drive by any feedlot. And unlike you, I am bashing the factory farmers. The commercialisation of farming has not led to a better society. In many cases it has bankrupted family farms. Yes, it has made meat "cheap" but at a great cost to the lives of animals and humans.
Hi, Mike I counted 10 🐖 you always give great video. Someone got to do the job. I was just dropping a water we u drop off the 🐖. This life. Welcome Eric don't have any babies born. Thanks for sharing. Be Blessed ♥️🙏🙏
It sure is essential, not only to your community but for your own livelihood. As long as you keep your contacts to a minimum and follow all the guidelines you won't have or cause a problem. Enjoying your video again as usual.
Whoever complained about it not being essential travel should get a life.
Rory Bevins Or get a brain! These are animals raised for food for us all to eat! I for one want to keep on eating during lockdown and beyond!

@Auto blipper As you have demonstrated.

I love the way you handle and care for your animals. The vlogs are great.

Both actions are definitely essential travel. Some people are going berserk with this quarantine business.
We do what we have to. Thanks for watching

It sure is essential, not only to your community but for your own livelihood. As long as you keep your contacts to a minimum and follow all the guidelines you won't have or cause a problem. Enjoying your video again as usual.
