I just installed the amp on X2 with bmw hifi speakers at first stage and guys the difference is day and night. The clarity of the sound from the same speakers made me smile and want to stay in the car after arriving to my destination. Then the bmw woofers made the sound go outside of the car as they are much more boomy and they vibrate the seats twice as much. Now I am waiting for all the rest speakers to make the full update of the system and I will be back with more info!
I've been looking for a video that explained this for months. I just bought my amp but the total system together is so expensive. Thanks for the video.
I replaced amp and subs in my hifi system on g20 and sound is so much better right now. Next step - replace acoustics in doors and central channel. In terms of pricing this total match system is so much better than any other solutions plus its very simple to install.
What a great, detailed and complete video. I love the detailed install instructions. I have the amp in my M140i, but have been looking into getting the subwoofers. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the excellent video. Loved the structured approach to the install, as well as the comparisons with just the amp upgrade and then with the speakers as well and then comparing with the HK sound system towards the end. I have a 2021 6GT G32 that came with the S688A HK surround sound system and looking to follow a similar upgrade path. My car comes with iDrive 7 and for some reasons best known to BMW, the HK system now is rated at 464W vs. the 600W pre iDrive 7. Would you recommend the Match UP 8 or the Match UP 10 and also, are they plug n play like the Match UP 7 you have installed. Thanks !
I have the hifi in my e90 and sounds pretty good really interested in making it better What a great video , and review strategy most common question will it be better right than the HK and how much better than the hifi
With the upgraded match up7bmw amplifier it will be better than Harman kardon/logic 7 but with stock hifi speakers you may find them losing quality at high volumes with the Match up7bmw because it might be too strong for the speakers. But as for the match up7bmw amplifier, it is a lot better than harman kardon/logic 7 amplifier.
hi there i have a 2020 mercedes c300de i have the match sub and musway amp there dont seem to be a brown connector for the sp[eaker for the p[lug n p[lay to p[lug in as thereis no brown connec tor and ive connected the amp it doset power up dose it need to connect to a remeote the supplier said the amp will turn on with the speaker turnminal connected? is that true and is my car too new to have the brown plug?
I have a G11 7 series with HK, I've installed just a match up 10 DSP and the clarity is considerably better than HK without even adjusting the DSP settings. A much cleaner sound and that's without upgrading the door speakers, you have to change the under seat subs as hk are 8ohm and match is 2ohm. HK is decent, but not if you appreciate good sounding music. Also music source makes a huge difference, Spotify is shit. Qobuz or tidal will bring out instruments you never even knew where in some songs
@@-cemothere is no way you have had this installed on any car because what you are saying is completely false. If you can't hear the difference you need new ears. I have had the full fat HK system in my 6 and 7 series and the difference is very clear after just a match amp. No surprise really as HK is 10 years plus old technology
are you able to bandpass the crossover on the sub channels? I would want to use the under seat woofers and midbass drives, then add a sub in the trunk. Thanks in advance.
What is volume level set on the factory head unit when tuning the 7BMW amp with stock speakers? My installer was saying it sounds best at 60% of the total volume (as displayed on the HU). But I find that too loud to be listening music to for a long time! Any suggestions?
I'm a w205 with burmester sound upgrade owner. I'v replace the doors speakers with focal 2 ways separate and the central channel. I'm thinking to go for match amp now but is it 60W per channel good enough? Also i have a audison sub and a skar amp for the sub in the rear. Will it be a good setup or i should go for a better amp for the system like a audiocontrol unit? Best regards! Good video!
I have the base stereo in my 5 Series G30. I have already installed the Matchup UP7BMW and I'm looking to either get these or the Etons. I could not find these Match FRT-2 on your website, do you still carry these?
@@ricklyon2833 Hi Rick, with base you mean 4 speakers (no tweeters) and subs which are powered by the head unit correct? So even that system has an amp?
the "application guide link" is dead. are you able to update it here or reply with it? i'd like the full package for my 2022 BMW 4-Series 430i Gran Coupe. if it's easier, maybe you can link me to the most compatible package for this model? thank you either way!
I have the S688A Harman Kardon in my G15. Would the Match speakers provide an upgrade to that? Also, how does Match compare to BavSound and Alpha One plug and play speakers and amp? Which one is the best?
Just change the amp first and see how you like that as that is the biggest difference, the HK speakers are actually not that bad but you will need to change the underseat subs as they are 8ohm in the HK system and the match sub output is 2ohm. It's a good bit better than standard HK for sound quality and about a 3rd louder with a good clean music source. Spotify is not going to do this amp any favours. Qobuz or tidal bring this system to life and sounds incredible. I am changing my door speakers at the weekend and I will update to say if it's worth it over my hk speakers which already sound great but a little too bright for my personal taste
@FinleyESB I ended up purchasing the Bowers and Wilkins speakers and amp off eBay, with the new grilles etc. I think it's around 1400 watts. Have yet to retrofit it, still gathering parts. Went with the B&W in the end because I read it has the best speakers + diamond tweeters, and bonus cool speaker lighting
I have a question, I have 2017 BMW 330xi with Hi-Fi, I have upgraded Tweeters, Mids front and Rears and two under seat Subwoofers also installed Match PP86DSP DSP Amp, I bought all this from Bimmer-tech. I feel I need more bass, can I add Match PP 7S-D Compact trunk Subwoofer and not loosing existing underseat subwoofers?
I got the same setup but without the upgraded speakers. For the bass, you won't really be able to get much bass out of the underseat subwoofers regardless of how much you upgrade it just due to the size and capabilities from frequencies. You can adjust the bass as best as you can to your liking to get a much clearer sound than stock and learn to appreciate that range of frequencies your subwoofers can handle without getting the 'booming' effect - that's from my experience. If you feel like you are already lacking the amount of bass and already tuning it to the max settings, you really need to go to the next level of getting a dedicated subwoofer in the trunk. That's really the only way to do it without destroying or overdoing your underseat subwoofers. The underseat subwoofers IMO give you plenty of bass, especially that you've upgraded them - I think you are just not learning to appreciate the frequencies. I honestly wouldn't go the subwoofer trunk solution just due to the size of the car. I would learn to utilize the software as best as possible before going into further physical hardware upgrades including the speakers, but since you have already done that, you should really learn how to work in that spectrum of your already upgraded setup.
Hey sir, the solution is that you replace the pp86dsp with Match up7 amplifier, using the same cables. So plug & play swap. You may ask what the difference is? The difference is that Match up7 is newer and it has dediacted channels for the underseat subwoofers, with a lot more power than pp86dsp. Pp86dsp puts out the same 70W rms (@2ohms) for the subwoofers that it does for the rest of the channels, while match up7 puts out 160W rms (@2ohms) for the subwoofer channels. That is over double the power. So in conclusion, swapping for match up7 would be the solution.
Hi, I have the Match PP62DSP installed in a bmw f15 base sound system(not hifi), already have this paired with another Vibe Powerbox 4001.1 Amplifier that powers the sub (Vibe Slick CBR12). Now my question is... I'm looking at upgrading the speakers as well as they are surely getting overpowered by the bass, would this AMP be enough? or would I need another? I thought since I'm basically only looking at powering the front plus the rear sub I don't need a more expensive option with sooo many channels. BTW on this model I know the wiring is basically done from head unit to underseats to door speakers any idea how I can actually separete those and amplify them while leaving the rear speakers to be amplified by the headunit?
I have a BMW f10 535i. All my mids are Eton B100's premium speakers including the center speaker which has a build-in tweeter. My underseat subs are German "Audio System AX-08 BMW Plus Evo" with 175w RMS each. I have the Bavsound Revenant, Match UP 7BMW DSP and the newest Bavsound Revenant Pro. The Eton speakers WILL sound like total shiiit at first but once they burn in they will sound amazing! For the Center speaker it MUST be used with it's recommended filter because with some songs that have strong bass, the center speaker will crack and pop nasty because the DSP from the Match UP amp will hit and miss to adjust instantly.... So bad advice in this video not to use it. NOW here is the most important part....! If you upgrade all your speakers especially the under-seat subs.... YOU MUST CONNECT THE AMP STRAIGHT TO THE BATTERY because it will now demand more amperage and those stock oem power wires (yellow) from the stock harness will NOT PROVIDE THE NEEDED AMPERAGE FOR THE AMP to have clean power and work stable! The Match UP amp WILL cut off and clip because the hard bass is demanding the extra power in which the skinny power wires from the harness can't handle causing the amp to overheat and shutdown in order to cool off so you will suddenly end up with no sound..... This is a problem Audiotec Fischer should've long tested and warned its customers beforehand. There's a reason why the separate Power wire cable adapter is included for that purpose to direct connect the amp to the car's battery for clean sufficient power! An 8 gouge size wire is recommended to feed clean power to the amp and it's enough thickness recommend by Fischer. So yes, you must buy a separate Amp wire kit for this.... The once at Walmart will work. So this NOT Plug N' Play as they all state it is..... Only Plug N Play if using with original stock speakers and not upgrades.... Now what happens if you do NOT connect the amp directly to the battery? Your Match UP 7BMW amp will not last and soon the skinny stock power wires from where the harness connects to the amp's plug WILL OVERHEAT AND BURN and could end up setting up your car on fire! That's what happened to me when I revert back to the stock harness's power for testing, frying my Match UP amp dead! So now I have to claim warranty and learn from my experience! THIS Match UP AMP MUST BE CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY FOR IT TO BE STABLE AND NOT BURN ON YOU WHILE YOUR PLAYING IT LOUD WITH BASS!
Whoa, that sounds most unfortunate. Could it be related to your even nicer speaker upgrades requesting more power than the amp is set up for and doing some sort of power spike?
You have no clue what you are talking about. A speaker itself can not demand for more power. The match up7 amplifier (or any amplifier) gives the same amount of power to the speakers, regardless of what speakers they are. If you replace a 10W (4ohm) speaker with 50W (4ohm) speaker but it still uses the same amplifier, nothing regarding power consumption will happen. The wattage a speaker has only means how much power (watts) it can handle. So only way how you have cooked your match up7 is if you used wrong kind of speakers with less ohms (impedance), that would result in match up7 trying to produce more power it can output. It is not the amplifier manufacturers fault, it is yours.
These MAtch speakers are totally crap. Match amp is very good upgrade (espacially thanks to built in processor), but these speakers sounds worse than oem speakers...
