    The "outtake" at the end was programmed in deliberately to make them less threatening. Spot was very angry about looking foolish and crushed the skulls of 4 engineers before it calmed down.

      From what I can tell from this video the Spots were operated by humans, but they're just using the normal control interface, no special programing.
      I guarantee it took an intern 15 minutes and two or three attempts. Pretty cool how capable these things are.

      @@cool_bug_facts True, the real challenge is understanding your environment. There is currently only one company that has the amount of data and enough supercomputers to takle that challenge. Tesla.
      I would be very surprised if someone is able to take them over. I don’t know how they would do it.

      I’m one of the primary students working on the SPOT dog that was gifted to our school and yeah, none of these movements were programmed, 3 people with a tablet are just controlling it like a video game. The hours that went into programming the tens of thousands of lines of code executed per second to make the robots run with such a simple UI however, is very impressive.

      MIT (according to a poster responsible for Cheetah) tried a dumb approach at spotting (pun) time travellers through internet searches. It's stupid for whatever measure they use publicly (and most likely also covertly) will be countered by its very publicity by the travellers. So, its not an absurd idea at all that this message of ours (or all of the internet, for information cannot be erased ever claim physicists) to be read by our AI offspring. Shame I have no more to say to them than a dog to his tutor. So, woof!

    These would be perfect helpers for seniors like myself to live better lives. If Boston Dynamics can make one that would respond to voice commands. I would give almost anything to have a companion like Spot who would never have to get sick or put to sleep like my beloved friends over the years. A companion who would always be there and never leave me. Say what you will but I believe these Spots will one day be as alive as we are. I hope you are listening Mr. Musk. Please make this happen for people like me.

      The box is infinite so that's not possible. Rather, it's the realisation that the black box need not being understood but merely used that will forward engineering (science is a meaningless term). Clear boxes are obsolete. We need the cat playing in the opaque one.

      Робот штука хорошая, но вот придумать нишу для его использования крайне сложно, но думаю можно!
      В любом случае - это же гражданская версия того над чем они реально работают и за что им платит Пентагон огромные деньги.
