I’m SO glad that this was like the one thing I never did. my skin is SO pale to the point where classmates called me “twilight” to make fun of me. my mom was sooooo adamant about how bad it was for your skin because she had so many like sun spots and stuff and caused wrinkles and she told me a tanning bed was like a “well lit coffin” so claustrophobia really kicked in. so i still look like i’m 12 with my skin that has never seen the sun lol
I remember when I was little my mom convinced me that she had a star birthmark. I didn't realize like an idiot that she tanned, and she always wore a star sticker there everytime till I was like 11-12.

Tanning is one of the worst things you can do. You should wear sunscreen everyday. Laying in that bed causes skin cancer and accelerates aging. Its mind blowing people still do this and know so little.
I legit didn’t get hired at a tanning salon in high school because my GPA wasn’t high enough. Like damn wow how book smart do I need to be to wipe a glass bed and wash some towels!? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Tanning was still quite popular when I was in high school (late ‘00s), but I typically only went like the month before a big dance because I tanned fairly easily. I smelled something recently that smelled like a tanning salon, & I swear I traveled back in time lol. We also had a foreign exchange student at our school from Thailand around that time, and he could never understand why the girls were trying to get tan. Blew our minds how different things could be.
