- 1984 meets Harry Potter (minus the problematic author) meets Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children: The House In The Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. Maybe the best book of 2020. What this novel says about humanity - a mini video essay.
(NON SPOILER) Unless you count talking about the themes and messages as a spoiler.
Let me know if you read or decide to read this book and your thoughts!

I cried when Linus decides to go back, when he decides that he deserves to be happy. “Wish you were here” yes! All the power to him!!!
same...I think we all did
This book made me cry. I’m so glad other people are enjoying it.
yess soo good
This was... actually a legit good review wow I feel like I'm back in English Lit class I liked it
ty for always watching my videos bud even if theyre so irrelevant to the things you like
@@itsdivyag fam you are so banter how could I not pls this is insulting. gotta pump the yt algorithm innit. hopefully we get a vaccine and can actually hang out next term doe
I actually enjoy your content regardless of what it is
i sobbed so hard towards the end of the book bro you dont even know it was 3 am and my eyes were so fucking puffy THE LESSONS THIS BOOK GIVES AND LINUS PROTECTING THE KIDS AND EVERYTHING!!! AHHHH!!!!
i suggest the watchmaker of filigree street by natasha pulley. its a historical fiction novel and just as soft. the yearning of the main character is just *chef's kiss*. its magical and wonderful and ive read it at least 5 times
tyyy for this and oof truly its so cute
The g stands for "Glowing up non-stop" (plz stop it's unfair to the rest of us)
looool omg bless you
Yesss you go girl
I am SO PLEASED this is one of the 3 books you've read this year. I haven't read much either but I am so so grateful this is one of the ones I read - especially this year! It is a hug in a book. Pure love and joy and it's just so magical and whimsical. I've already got 3 other people I know to read it ❤ such a beautiful story and such wonderful characters
It's so good! and skks yesss gorl spreading that awareness to your friends too we love to see it
I like to describe this book as 'a warm hug.' I think I discovered it last year and it quickly became one of my favorite books I've ever read. Just very lovely and comforting and beautiful. Found family just hits different, you know? (also, really excellent analysis!!)
I totally agree!
3:40 ahh yes, nothing says hope and innocent dreams better than an episode of barney & friends
sskksksksk LISSSTEEEN I DIDNOOT KNOW WHAT VISUALS TO USE EEYEYYE
The g stands for goddamn the editing in this video is incredible sis!!! Honestly! “Stepping on the island” and it’s Truman stepping on the horizon stairs?? Chef’s kiss, queen!
I JUST WATCHED THAT MOVIE RECENTLY SO IT WAS FRESSHHH haha
@@itsdivyag it's a good one ahaha :D
“Whether you’re a member of BTS” lol 🤣 loved this review! It’s such a perfect book 😭
thank you!! the book is guuud
IVE HEARD SUCH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS BOOK
YES READ IT!!
Getting flashbacks after yt recommended me Divya after 2 years. Like I rly stole her personality in year 9 because I didn’t have one of my own... and now I’m depressed.
Thanks A LOT Rachel !!
oh god i'm so sorry hahaha
I've never heard of this book but this really makes me want to read it
dooo ittt
I’m so grateful you reviewed a recent, good, happy book! Following your recommendation i got it as an audiobook, and i freaking loved the story (the reader was like 7/10, listenable but like, not hot, which makes me questions how he was allowed to read books for a living). It’s so cute, so gay, so cheesy in just the right way.. think fanfiction type tropes you secretly love bc you’re trash. Also: Parnassus is Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle. once you see it you cannot unsee it.
The only thing similar I’ve read is Out Of Salem by Hal Schrieve, which is Very LGBTQ rep YA but like... not nearly as fairytale? It’s about like activism and solidarity, so hopeful but not skimming the crapsack world for romantic stuff. But it’s very very good and I really recommend it!
NOT HOT READER ADSFJAWEFJAIWEF HOW CAN YOU TELL THROUGH AUDIO
third book? you're UNSTOPPABLE
Damn, you've convinced me to read this book 👀
g do itt
This was such a great review! I read The House in the Cerulean Sea this year, and it quickly became my second favorite book of all time! It’s just so lovely. I would die for any of the children or Arthur or Helen or Zoe or Linus or Calliope. They’re just so great.
What you said about the cover is so interesting! I hadn’t thought about it before, but it makes a lot of sense.
loves your reflections! already had this on my TBR but gonna priorities it now
yesss pls do
Omg I think you'd like "Home-Going" by Yaa Gsai
It's About these two sisters that are separated and one is shipped to America while the other is married off to a slaver and you see the perspective shift to the next in line with a new chapter and all the characters were soo memorable and soo amazing and honestly made me cry and PLUS it's such an easy read (not to say that the writing isn't articulate ITS VERY GOOD but also very easy to read (which I feel makes an author better if they can do that))
damn! the premise sounds deep tyy for the reccc so much
@@itsdivyag always hdhsjs !
What a great review Divya. I'm planning to read this book in December & I'm so excited.
GGG PLLSSS i hope you enjoy it as much as i did gorl

Glad you liked it!! UGH IK idk if anyone would be here for a long book review video tbh
I love your review style- really going in-depth into the point of the novel- the cover part was funny/good too- added the book to my list (someday lmao) Love your video style too, all the clips and stock photos, it’s never boring!
Also idk if you like reading comedy, but I found Right Ho, Jeeves really funny (haven’t read it years) (what a recommendation)
I love the essay-ish book reviews!

I love everything about this edit
I love your review and I agree with it. This book gave me all the warm cozy feels!
Wooow, that was such a great review/analysis!! This book wasn't on my immediate reading list before but it sure is now! Also, I am a self-professed cold ass b who never cries while reading, and I so hope this is gonna make me cry, I just need a lil bit of catharsis in These Trying Times TM.
wait this is a booktuber channel?
Lol, it used to be and still occasionally (rarely) is
lol now I'm curious to know what kind of channel you thought this was if not a booktuber channel 😂 she may not upload the kinds of videos that most mainstream booktubers do, but if you look at her channel, most of her videos are related to books in some way or another
@@user-tm8ki6tm9j nah I was just making a joke about how divya doesn’t read
sksksk TRUE THOUGH
Honestly, I think this is the most I have ever cried while reading a book. Just because it's so pure and sweet and it made me so fucking happy.

YAAS!! I'm so happy you liked it! 💃
and no I didn't cry. 😅
It's so good!
I was interested in reading this book and checked it out on goodreads but I found out it was inspired by Canada’s sixties scoop and basically a white guy retelling it, I don’t think I feel comfortable reading it now which sucks cause it sounded really interesting
i've only read two books this year... maybe this can be my third one too 😅
She do be reading some good books tho ✌️🤭

Please make a review of Rupi Kaur's new book 'Home body' please.🙏🙏🙏

This book made me cry. It was that bad, really bad. Wish this book had a plotline, a story. Something.
YOU SHOULD READ ISAAC ASIMOVS' "END OF ETERNITY" OR "FOUNDATION" AND MAKE A VIDEO ABT ITTTT

The only question is, how can i find another book like this????

Does annyone know books which are like this one?
I just bought the book lolzzzz
Hi
I’m new here
New subscriber 💃
hehe tysm
"whether ur a member of BTS"
Omg i- 😂
I am raising a red flag on this one. This book is rather controversial, to say the least. Klunes source material for this book was Canada's Sixties Scoop. Considering the history of Canadas residential boarding schools and the latest news (the remains of 215 unidentified indigenous children have been found at a former residential school), this should not be praised without proper education on how this book came together. This author is exploiting indigenous trauma for profit.
this book was so boring to me lol, is my heart made of stone?
omg fr i hated it, seriously don't get what people love ab it
the 2 dislikes are from Jungkook and his other account.
skskks whyy
damn, finally
