Well done. It’s really important we show those bits of the trip that don’t go so well, I think, because otherwise we romanticise it and then it never lives up to our expectations. We’ve all lost a net, taken the wrong port, lost our enthusiasm, so don’t worry - it’s actually this stuff that makes us really appreciate the good things.
I was just about to comment saying I loved how quickly the videos are coming out... the I noticed this comment! I'm equally impatient and it's greatly appreciated ✌🏽
This series is amazing. I commented on the last episode complaining about the cliffhanger (totally a joke btw 😊). I love how quickly they are coming out but would happily wait as long as it takes. So much work for you guys to film, edit, in addition to the trip itself. so appreciated
watching the little black handle of the net gently swim away while your attention was focused on the 5 inch bass in the boat = priceless....fished for 20 years in Northwest Ontario without a net and learned to adapt...always used a thick leather glove...small pike could be grabbed on the back of the neck without injury for the fish and as the pike got larger, was able to grab the front of the gill opening without touching the gills...walleye are easy to grab behind the head and they freeze to make them easy to release...bass are easily grabbed in the mouth and the glove protects your hand from the lure that may be sharing the mouth space...lake trout were the hardest to manage but finally figured out that with the thick glove it was possible to lip the fish (up to about 5 lbs) like a bass without injury to either fish or angler...of course, they do make very nice FLOATING nets nowadays as well....just sayin'
Just watching 3 now . Poor girl, I’ve done the same thing once . I was so excited that my brother-in-law caught his first fish, a large mouth bass, I stood the net up in the water focussed on getting a picture for him . It was only 4ft deep in salad. Just wasn’t thinking. You can see at 11:09 in this video that you are both spent. Mistakes happen like that. You’re lucky to have Erin . Mine doesn’t like going to a cottage with modern amenities. I don’t know you or Erin at all, but just from watching your videos I get the impression that your very fortunate to have her by your side. Looking forward to the next episode . Thanks again for sharing this stuff .
Hahah you kick yourself for those moments eh? Luckily this was inconsequential aside from eating bass instead of that nice pike lol. I am so lucky...she's perfect. Never thought I'd find her. Thanks Alan :)
@MAKOBITE I bet he went on about it over and over again...... as you say, burritos in the fire !! - if he is so good at bushcraft then make a net from shirt and sticks.....not the prettiest but it works!
Thrilled to see the 3rd episode drop! 😃 This was a tough one - so sorry about the camera, net, confusing portage, and Erin's injury. Thanks for keeping it real and not editing out the challenges - it's all part of the trip, and overcoming obstacles is part of what makes it worthwhile when we look back on our adventures. Did it help when I shouted at my screen, "THE NET, THE NET!!!"? 😆
Hello guys...I can't tell you how much I admire your respect for your surroundings. You honor the native people, animals, physical environment and mostly the fish. I have learned quite a lot about fish, their habitat and their way of life, thanks to you...it has been fun. Thanks for all you do to entertain and educate us all.
Hey guys when you go on these long trips sht happens. I mean dropping dinner or lunch on the ground or losing a fish net in the end it doesn’t matter. You guys are so luck to share the experience with each other. Love you guys.
After the net was lost your body language couldn't hide how PO'd you were. I felt so sorry for you two. More so for Erin. Your reenactment was bittersweet and hilarious at the same time. Kudos to you for persevering!
Thanks Michael! I overreacted...was having a bad day (pinned a comment explaining). But we got through it fine, and if you can do a trip like this with your partner, and come out stronger and more in love, you're doing alright :)
Some notes on this one... BAROTRAUMA ruclips.net/video/7z5n1M9VNhY/видео.html TARP The dripping tarp can be solved with seam sealant which we've since ordered (Seam Grip + SIL) CAMERA If you're noticing the frame juddering, that's because the main camera was malfunctioning. Regrettably there's nothing we can do about it...post-stabilization makes it look even worse/glitchy. It was a huge disappointment then, while editing, and now 😔 A lot of footage was discarded. I kept what I felt was necessary to tell the story, and edited around the juddering as much as possible (i.e. started scenes right after a shake and ended them right before a shake), but there's nothing I can do about some of it. I also suspect it will be hard to relate to our frustrations in this one. We wanted to give these videos our all and the main camera malfunctioning was hugely deflating. (Not to mention the cost of replacing it back home.) However we didn't even want to bring it up on camera initially, hoping to not draw attention to the juddering, so that frustration doesn't come across in the video. Waking up that morning to realize that, then losing the net and mixing up one of the tougher ports of the trip and doing it twice just made us (especially me) a bit sour that day. We all have different limits and though we're fairly active, we also work at a desk 40 hours a week. A week into this trip with a 65lb canoe and heavy packs had taken a toll on us, and unlike a typical week-long trip, we also had the knowledge that we hadn't even reached the halfway point in the trip. After doing mostly bushwhack trips for the last two years, I think we underestimated Quetico, knowing that there would be established trails. Not packing lighter/bringing a lighter canoe and having to double-carry them was a mistake for a trip with 60 portages, but it was a good lesson learned. Anyway, that's why the mood is a bit grumpy in this one. Part 4 gets back on track :) DRONE FOOTAGE All drone footage was captured outside of the park at our access point, looking into the park (drones are not permitted in parks here)
Thank you for keeping it real. Every day cant be stellar, even when we're doing something we love that we're experienced at. Sh*t happens, and I appreciate your transparency and authenticity.
So far the peaceful tranquility expressed here, with every image, creature, fish caught and lost, has kept me mesmerized. Please don't impart too much drama or I will have to retreat. An old man that would have loved being able to experience the journey of a lifetime.
“Bermuda Triangle of portages” 😂😂😂 Can we just acknowledge how happy that net looked as it freely floated away! May it go in peace ✌️ Loved seeing the hard moments. I think everyone can relate.
Surprised how there seems to be so much focus on that net and not the fact that Erin injured herself. Scary stuff when your injured out in the woods. Hope you are well or get well. Great couple. best wishes to you both
Enjoying this series, as I do all your vids. I appreciate that you often share your opinions on angling ethics,..I don’t doubt that those ideas have influence with your followers, that’s great. 👍🏻 Cheers!
Awesome series so far. Such a shame about the net, I noticed that as it happened and I was saying out loud "net, net, Net!" as if you could hear me hahaha. Fishing can create some chaotic moments, I love it! Beautiful bronze back! I hope Erin is Okay!
Haven’t seen a net disappear so fast like when Shaq shattered one of the 8 backboards. LOL. Epic and it happens to all of us. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to the next adventure.
Nice video, wonderful country, it is always good to have one good push day. While you still can. I have really enjoyed the series so far, thanks a lot.
Wow hope Erin is ok ,John maybe you rig something up to teather the net to the boat at least when you both are together. Remember when you lost your hat and went back to look for it stuff happens. Overall you are a gem for not riding her . We've all been there ♥️
For sure Eileen, remembering that I lost a GoPro and my hat this year was humbling. I was having a bad day and overreacted but if your relationship can survive and ultimately thrive on a two-week wilderness trip, you're doing alright :)
great job, nice fish, great Canadian forest, some of those pike make great suppers, ;0), hope your ankle/leg is okay Erin,, thank you for sharing folks,, Bob
Amazing video once again. Both of you’s are such troopers. Absolutely beautiful scenery. Thinking I like it better than what I’ve seen of Woodland Caribou. Your meals always look amazing also. Thank you’s so much.😘
It's not easy to live a dream isnt it ? But I think an adventure like this makes you stronger at the end . Erin made me laugh when she said later after loosing the net , are we still together 😂 . Only a solid couple can survive the lost of a net 😉 .
@Davgil J'ai failli passer par chez vous pour prendre l'avion pour un voyage en Corse qui a été annulé malheureusement , heureux de partager des commentaires avec toi !
Definitely a tough part of the trip. Like ‘they’ say it’s not an adventure till things go wrong. Hopefully things start going better moving forward. Sucks having any kind of camera issues out there. Thanks Erin & Jon! 🇨🇦
It wouldn't be a trip without some emotional breakdowns or drama haha. A friend and I did a week long river trip recently and both lost our shit at different moments. Then we apologized to each other and moved on! Shit happens, you get rundown, stressed and tired at times. As long as you have a kickass travel companion who understands, it's all good! You guys seem like you have it figured out.
Hahah thank you, you get it! If you can go on a backcountry trip for two weeks with your partner and come out stronger, you're doing better than many :)
Wow Jon, traveling every day gets tough! We like to go maybe three days at most then lay over a day or two at a nice site and really get to know the lake we are on. Then you have a chance to relax, eat, fish, eat more and just enjoy the day. Really looking forward to part 4!
Old trick for non-extending nets, work the grip off the net handle tube. Get a can of minimal expansion foam from a home improvement store. Securely tape a piece of tubing to the spout and squirt just enough to fill the tube. Insert the tube inside the net handle till it bottoms. Retract the tube as you fill the handle with foam. Net will never sink.
Re your lost fishing net, with a couple of sinkers on the end of your fishing line you may have been able to snare and recover it. Appreciate your videos.
We are considering getting two of these hammocks but that quite significant leak has me concerned. Hopefully it is just wear, due to them being very heavily used tarps, and some seam sealer will fix it up. Any thoughts on the AMOK system overall?
MJSMailinglist Mailinglist it is the newest tarp they make, the Skjold, it’s a new material, very lightweight which makes it hard to sew, seam sealer did the trick for me, if that concerns you go with the Borg tarp they make, I have 2 of those and they have never leaked, either way these hammocks are all I will ever use to camp with unless there are no trees on my trip, awesome hammocks 😊👍🏽
Thanks Stemt! Just applied the seam sealer yesterday :) MJSMM, they're fantastic. Just use a silicone suitable seam sealer....very easy to apply. I got "Gear Aid Seam Grip + SIL"
John and Erin, I wonder if you drink "morning nectar/nectar of the gods"? My goodness, morning coffee? Gosh, it's important drinking! I accidentally bought decaf on my first BWCAW trip this summer! I had one of the worst headaches of my life that lasted for three days. I'll NEVER do that again! Great video guys. Thanks for your efforts! Continued peaceful journeys...
LOL withdrawal! I used to drink it every day at work until I realized it made me tense/anxious. Now just black tea (with a little caffeine). Thanks Moe!
Wow, that was a tense episode! Hope Erin feels better! We catch and eat smallmouth quite often. If you want to get rid of the fishy taste (and impurities), remove the “dirt line” from the fillet. Cut about 0.5 cm out of the center line...the dark area. That’s where all the toxins end up. You can cut a small bit and then just tear the line out the fillet and the meat tastes so much better.
Tough luck about the net! I’d want to do more fishing shorter trip!! You guys did great.. brings back memories doing a trip by flin flon mb 45 years ago!! Lots of good times! Thought u might have caught more walleye to eat? All in all Great Trip. Thanks for letting you share your memories with me👍B Deacon
I just happened upon your videos by chance yesterday. Binge watching since then. Lived in Northwestern Ontario so loving these. Nice shots, minimal inane chatter. Thank you.
I hope you can laugh at your Bermuda Triangle episode now. I had to laugh at your misfortune of somehow doing a 360 navigation mistake - oh gosh that must have been a head scratcher! And the net drifting away from the canoe was also funny. I kept wondering if you would notice it drifting away. It seems the "Triangle" also swallows nets as well as ships. All in all your trip looks amazing.
Reading the comments, too much emphasis on the net, move on subscribers as S&%T happens and No need to comment negatively on their relationship, they look happy to me. Good stuff Erin and Jon 😊😊 and thank you. 😊 Looking forward to the next.
Really appreciated that AWOL. I have one human moment where I let my emotions get the better of me (already in a bad mood after finding out that my camera has broken at the worst time), and some people pounce on the opportunity to criticize, villainize, and make assumptions. It shows who the "fairweather friends" are and who has our back, so thanks again :)
Another great video - thanks. I've been to Shade Lake, where we stayed for 2 days, starting from Basswood in the BWCA. Great fishing and had a Bull Moose walk right through our came site at 5am. That was an amazing trip.
So admire the care and respect you show for the fish, you rock! lol Poor Erin, hope she wasn't damaged too badly! Been there myself on an extended backpack trip one time, scary and painful! Can't wait for the next one! Thanks for sharing! :)
Im loving this channel. You two are awesome troopers. I like the fact that the good and bad also how tough it can actually be and how stressful and aggrivating a trip will actually be. Definitely worth it to subscribe as the true nature of the lifestyle is shown with no editing like many channels do and make it seem simple. We all make mistakes and it is part of life we all experience.
This series is so awesome! did a similar route through Northern Tier 10yrs ago. I remember that "Bermuda Triangle" portage onto Grey lake like it was yesterday. it had recently rained and multiple people slipped off the logs and fell waist deep into the mud.
I'm loving this series so far !.. 3:14 was an unbelievable string of events. You'll never see that again !.. I wouldn't doubt that the net caught a fish on the way down LOL.. Erin, I hope you're laughing at your little brain fart. We've all had them. When you can laugh at yourself, it becomes a great memory. Good on you Jon for making light of it with your reenactment, damn that was funny.. Ok I'm out of here, I'm dying to see part 4 !.
Bless your heart for thinking of us "impatients" lol. So THIS is where both of you take some hits. Always a fear factor when you're that far into the back country and there are emergent injuries to attend to 8-/ You're one of the tougher yet sensitive guys I've run into Jon, from considering the welfare of fish to the tender loving care of Erin, awesome. Would have never guessed there were lake trout on Shan Walshe from the topos. Watching every lake and portage from the maps and living vicariously though you two as the knees are just not up to such an ambitious endeavour (for the young of body). Look forward to your angling commentaries!
Just watched a seam-sealing video on Amok's official channel. I was surprised, didn't know their tarps needed it as I have had mine in some huge storms without ever a leak but I guess your experience shows I should seal mine just in case.
You're prob good if so...I think it's just a small % of the Skjold tarps that are affected but ours were (especially mine). Seam sealed and good to go now :) Easy fix
Interesting to hear you least prefer the Bass. Never eaten Bass from your side of the world but I love our Australian Bass, such a beautiful eating fish.
Interesting indeed! It's good deep fried of course but compared to trout, walleye, pike, perch, whitefish, etc. here, it's not as good. Still works though
What a cliffhanger, hope Erin is Ok. I did the same thing on my last trip and my net sank to the bottom of Little Mink lake in Algonquin. The footage revealed the truth when I got home.
Looks great but I don't have any insight on that route. There is some information on MyCCR.com, including this report: www.myccr.com/canoeroutes/goulais-river-route
Oh noooo not the net ! Well that’s gonna make landing dinner a bit tougher but I know you’ll get by. Was not looking forward to seeing Erin getting hurt but obviously knew it was coming. She’s proven herself a tough cookie before but I hate to see the pain on her face, not like you can just run her down to the neighborhood urgent care center.
Yeah man she's tough so I knew she was hurting. Was truly concerned in that moment. Lol thankfully the net was inconsequential aside from eating bass instead of pike on Yum Yum Lake
pretty close to the shore too to catch that trout they usually are in the deep water but beginning of june we caught them right off the shore youd see them in one foot of water the water is still cold enough for them i guess.we caught 5 one year just off shore ...nice bonus for our trip
I just found your channel a couple weeks ago and I’m hooked. All of them are awesome. What I like to do is put a small piece of a pool noodle at the end of the net to keep it from sinking if you drop it. You can zip tie it up by the net part.
I always add a piece of the foam 4' water pipe insulation to my net handle. It protects the edge of the boat, stops 90% of the banging that scares off the fish, and makes the net float, while weighing basically nothing. Just an idea, nets are expensive and it is irritating to lose a new one. I've cut open a foam pool floaty in a pinch before lol edit: a friend filled his handle with polyurethane foam and said it floats but doesn't help with sound, however it should strengthen his handle by at least 50%
I seen your video of the trip down the Pic River and you lost your net. You had mentioned Erin had lost the net on your Quetico trip so I had to watch it. I also Love the fact that you are respecting the elders requests by not sharing or photographing the Pictographs or Petroglyphs. I know a few people from Lac LaCroix. Thank you for sharing your journeys on here.
Thanks Bruno :) Appreciate that. It's a bit shocking how many people have actually taken offense to us respecting their request. If someone doesn't want to respect it, that's their choice. But getting pissed at us for respecting it...it's strange
@@LostLakes Well those are stories from ancient times. Messages left by those migrating through the area for the next group of indigenous to come by them. Elders have said there are sites like this from the east coast right across to the west coast. They tell the travelers where they are to go next and or how many are traveling in that group. Like sign posts in a way right?
Is it worth replacing the net handle with a floating handle... I'm amazed the net sank... manufacturers should be planning for that. Sad luck and great video's!!!
Thanks for bringing back some memories. My family has been to most of the same lakes you experienced. Kashapiwi, Keefer and Sark is where we spent most of our time. How did you like Yum Yum portage? One of the great destinations and experiences our world has to offer. Thanks, and happy paddling.
Many a Q traveler has done that looping portage around Grey Lake twice...including my wife and I. I know that exact feeling you had when you realize I am basically back where I started.
"I don't need this anymore" lol that's like me I bought a floating net and I got too excited once, set it down on the water and just paddled away... Mmmm rancheros...I used to eat lots of them when they were cheaper, now I'm on a homemade porridge budget lol.
@@LostLakes me too, I can't eat much of the instant stuff at all but I make my own with milk from powder, fruit, dark chocolate, cinnamon, nuts and seeds. That was what fueled me on my bikepacking tour in 2019 and it propelled me well! I did all the math on it and it's a surprisingly cheap and lightweight way to get a balanced high-cal diet. It takes a lot out of your mornings to cook it though that's the one drawback.
I think I’m going to add some pool noodle to my net, just in case. It happens though, I dropped my paddle in recently as soon as I was fighting a fish. Used my net to paddle over to it. I think every time I’ve released the first eater as a “good omen”, I caught nothin the rest of the day.
The fish looked delicious. Concerns for Erin. It happens so quickly. I have fallen twice this year, tripped over my own feet , embarrassing moments for a guy like me. Hope all is well!
Jon, you are way too serious......try laughing at least once a day! Enjoy the moments! Bring joy and laughter to others along with compassion. That’s great character.
The big pine you found snapped 10 feet up. I can tell you for a fact. That a tree like that makes no sound in the middle of a thunderstorm. At least none that you can hear. We had a red pine not quite hat big snap 8 ft from our tent. We did not hear it snap or hit the ground. But I did get it on film

We’ve all lost a net, taken the wrong port, lost our enthusiasm, so don’t worry - it’s actually this stuff that makes us really appreciate the good things.
This is so important and so very true.
Hah yep nothing in Northen Ontario (don't know if it is but looks like it) comes easy, at least no more black flies!
Well said. Thank you!
I'm impatient...I hate waiting after an episode, a cliffhanger, or a teaser. So this series is being posted quickly for anyone equally impatient
Keep up the good work, staying safe and away from others. Wish I could run up there too...... good luck you two!
Lol thanks!
It’s been so fun to be happily surprised! 💪🏼
I was just about to comment saying I loved how quickly the videos are coming out... the I noticed this comment! I'm equally impatient and it's greatly appreciated ✌🏽

fishing nets should float
I actually put a pool noodle on the handle of my nets. Even my shore nets.

Hahah! Thanks April! Sometimes it's not pretty but it's part of the experience :)
I kept hearing Ray Liotta from good fellas saying “Erin, why did you do that Erin” when she dropped the net. Another great episode! Thanks!!
Yeah you can buy another net any day of Canadian Tire
Dude!!...Thanks for pumping out this series so quickly. Seriously appreciated!
Hahah my pleasure J&J :)

Thank you for keeping it real. Every day cant be stellar, even when we're doing something we love that we're experienced at. Sh*t happens, and I appreciate your transparency and authenticity.
That's called growing! Beastly determination and answering the call with dignity.

Hahah yeah I can't believe volume of comments on the net. I guess people relate to it! Much appreciated!!
Enjoying this series, as I do all your vids. I appreciate that you often share your opinions on angling ethics,..I don’t doubt that those ideas have influence with your followers, that’s great. 👍🏻 Cheers!
Thanks a lot Blair! Not always popular but a lot of modern practices are going to screw it all up for the future
The negatives or hardships are, for me, what i remember the most. Especially if you can laugh about them after!
Looks like a very beautiful place!
You got it Adam :) An easy-breezy trip is less memorable typically
Attach a pool noodle to your net handle...it will float. You two are amazing.
I was yelling at TV “The net. The net!” Sorry Erin. Could have happened to anyone. Great video. Love those quiet lakes and misty mornings.
Hahaha thanks Robert :)

Thanks Bob! No harm done to Erin's ankle thankfully
Backcountry Angling Ontario perfect
Jon and Erin , we feel the pain, but it must have been worth it.. The fish, the lakes are the piece and quite.. Well done...
Oh ya it's all water under the bridge...or net. Lol thanks Jim!
You guys are awesome! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Thanks Rachel!!!
Amazing video once again. Both of you’s are such troopers. Absolutely beautiful scenery. Thinking I like it better than what I’ve seen of Woodland Caribou. Your meals always look amazing also. Thank you’s so much.😘
Thanks TH!! Tough call vs. Woodland Caribou...haven't been yet. But both are worthy destinations, that's for sure
wonderful series, I hope Erin is ok and heals quickly!
Thanks a lot Nelson! Thankfully she's all good now :)
It's not easy to live a dream isnt it ? But I think an adventure like this makes you stronger at the end . Erin made me laugh when she said later after loosing the net , are we still together 😂 . Only a solid couple can survive the lost of a net 😉 .
They make Nets every day I hardly use one fishing for 40 + years less to carry lol.
@Davgil Salut ! J'aime bien ton commentaire , très philosophique 👍
@Davgil québécois oui 😉 , merci !
@Davgil J'ai failli passer par chez vous pour prendre l'avion pour un voyage en Corse qui a été annulé malheureusement , heureux de partager des commentaires avec toi !
Definitely a tough part of the trip. Like ‘they’ say it’s not an adventure till things go wrong. Hopefully things start going better moving forward. Sucks having any kind of camera issues out there. Thanks Erin & Jon! 🇨🇦
Yeah man, we really wanted to give these vids our all so it was really deflating. But, life goes on. Thanks man!
True Donald...we (or I) probably wanted to achieve too much in this amount of time. I feel purposeless lounging around camp though. Thanks man!
Nice Paul!
Love how quick these vids are being released
😁
I hope Erin is OK. Take it easy and enjoy.
Re your lost fishing net, with a couple of sinkers on the end of your fishing line you may have been able to snare and recover it. Appreciate your videos.
Thanks Bob! Good call. Problem was boat control in the wind, and I lost sight of exactly where it went down too
I had the same problem with leaking in that tarp during hard rain, a little seam sealer fixed it up perfect :) great vid as usual
Just applied the seam sealer yesterday :)
MJSMM, they're fantastic. Just use a silicone suitable seam sealer....very easy to apply. I got "Gear Aid Seam Grip + SIL"
Backcountry Angling Ontario Awesome 😊👍🏽
John and Erin, I wonder if you drink "morning nectar/nectar of the gods"? My goodness, morning coffee? Gosh, it's important drinking! I accidentally bought decaf on my first BWCAW trip this summer! I had one of the worst headaches of my life that lasted for three days. I'll NEVER do that again! Great video guys. Thanks for your efforts! Continued peaceful journeys...
LOL withdrawal! I used to drink it every day at work until I realized it made me tense/anxious. Now just black tea (with a little caffeine). Thanks Moe!
Delicious looking fish nuggets.
Boom! Gotta try that one! Thanks IM!!
Thanks Barry! 5 years ago, I'd have wanted to focus on the fishing. These days, I'm driven more by wanderlust but love to fish the whole way :)
Your videography is amazing!
Thanks again Rachel!!
I just happened upon your videos by chance yesterday. Binge watching since then. Lived in Northwestern Ontario so loving these. Nice shots, minimal inane chatter. Thank you.
Hope she is doing well. Can't wait for the next one. Love ya'll.
Thanks Julie!! No harm done thankfully :)
I think I woke up the family yelling "the NET! the NET!" when I saw it in the water. RIP Mr. Net.
LOL
Surprised the net didn't float, great series so far, keep the adventures coming!!
Thanks Allen!
Amazing trek! Thanks.
Really enjoying the series you guys. Getting into some pretty wild country. Thanks!
Thanks Shane!!
Awesome as always. Try a bit of pool noodle around some of the net so it floats...saved my rear many times in my kayak
Thanks Mikey!
Great footage, and don't worry about the net. Things like that happen and guys brushed it off. Looking forward to future videos.
Thanks Tyson!
Hahah it's a cursed place, the Quetico Triangle...
I absolutely love your channel!!!! I did an 18-day trip through the Quetico in 1978 when I was 18. It looks exactly the same!!
👍 going to Part four
Another great video - thanks. I've been to Shade Lake, where we stayed for 2 days, starting from Basswood in the BWCA. Great fishing and had a Bull Moose walk right through our came site at 5am. That was an amazing trip.
So admire the care and respect you show for the fish, you rock! lol Poor Erin, hope she wasn't damaged too badly! Been there myself on an extended backpack trip one time, scary and painful! Can't wait for the next one! Thanks for sharing! :)
Thanks a lot J! Thankfully no lasting damage to her ankle :)
Great filming Jon. Cant wait for the next one.
Thanks Erich!!
Much appreciated MT! Highs and lows are part of the experience
Beautiful lake trout!
Thanks David!
We always enjoy watching your canoe adventures .
We appreciate you joining us William!
This series is so awesome! did a similar route through Northern Tier 10yrs ago. I remember that "Bermuda Triangle" portage onto Grey lake like it was yesterday. it had recently rained and multiple people slipped off the logs and fell waist deep into the mud.
Hahah it's an unfriendly port. Thanks a lot Kenneth!
I don't know how I missed this episode, but I'm glad that I caught it. Thanks for letting us tag along!
Hahaha thanks a lot Pete! Funny enough, some people thought the reenactment was very unfunny...I guess we all have different senses of humour
Hahaha really appreciate that Canesser :)
Thumbs up. Keep it coming. Thanks.
Thanks!!
Wonderful series. Actually awesome
Thanks Diane!!
A very light and easy float for a net is zip tiring a piece of a pool noodle size varies depending on the net
Thanks Mike :)
Either selling my sailboat to devote more time to these types of adventures or bringing my boat up to Lake Superior with a canoe in tow. Great vids!
Hahah both great ideas. Thanks Kevin!
Another great video. Keep them coming!
Thanks Stephen!
What a cliffhanger, hope Erin is Ok. I did the same thing on my last trip and my net sank to the bottom of Little Mink lake in Algonquin. The footage revealed the truth when I got home.
Hahah fun to watch it after 😅 No lasting harm done to her thankfully :)
Great video guys.
Thanks Mike!
what do you think of a canoe trip from Goulais lake to Gou;lais Bay.
Looks great but I don't have any insight on that route. There is some information on MyCCR.com, including this report:
www.myccr.com/canoeroutes/goulais-river-route
Good call WM! Appreciate it!
I hope you all the subscribers it takes to make this awesome lifestyle a career!!
Hahah sounds great to me Noah 😝 Thanks man
What a rough day! Great attitudes win!
So sorry she hurt herself. Great video. Hope everything is ok.😪🙏
Thanks Ethelene! No harm done thankfully :)
Is it worth replacing the net handle with a floating handle... I'm amazed the net sank... manufacturers should be planning for that. Sad luck and great video's!!!
Thanks Mark! I suppose more lost nets means they sell more nets too
Have to say, thanks for putting these out, and yes, too bad about the net.
Th k you for this series. It was stunning!
Thanks Rae!!
Man, just beautiful.
Makes me anxious to get out on the next trip!!
Hahah yeah that's the tough part about watching vids....just makes the hunger worse
Thanks for bringing back some memories. My family has been to most of the same lakes you experienced. Kashapiwi, Keefer and Sark is where we spent most of our time. How did you like Yum Yum portage? One of the great destinations and experiences our world has to offer. Thanks, and happy paddling.
Awesome Paul. I think the port into Yum Yum was the one we got turned around on...or was it the one before? So many ports they've become a blur lol
Many a Q traveler has done that looping portage around Grey Lake twice...including my wife and I. I know that exact feeling you had when you realize I am basically back where I started.
Hahah that's reassuring
"I don't need this anymore" lol that's like me I bought a floating net and I got too excited once, set it down on the water and just paddled away... Mmmm rancheros...I used to eat lots of them when they were cheaper, now I'm on a homemade porridge budget lol.
Hahaha good for the heart at least. We eat steel cut oats almost every day at home but we make it way better than the instant packets
Hahah did the same once...then started carrying a backup paddle always. Yeah man that whole karma thing is phooey 😂
LOL, the net issue was hilarious..You said wait til I see what happened to the net...hahahahah
😝😝
The trip continues to look amazing. It’s nice seeing how beautiful that place is. Is that a fish swimming in the background at 28:23?
Hahah that's the pike that's still on my line :)
Tough to watch but you keep it real. The pace probably wore you down...fewer miles and more smelling of the flowers might be needed!
Hahah you got it. And for my main camera to not break at the worst time 🙃
The fish looked delicious. Concerns for Erin. It happens so quickly. I have fallen twice this year, tripped over my own feet , embarrassing moments for a guy like me. Hope all is well!
Sucks when you work against yourself! Insult to injury. Thankfully no lasting damage to Erin's ankle :)
Jon, you are way too serious......try laughing at least once a day! Enjoy the moments! Bring joy and laughter to others along with compassion. That’s great character.
Unfortunately my main camera breaking had me in a bad mood. Simple as that. Pinned a comment about it
Great vid !
Thanks Dustin!
Awesome.... Part 3
U should really bring some top water lures and go after those smallies early morning or in the evening. Nothing more exciting than a top water bite.
True Matt, dunno why I didn't do any topwater
The big pine you found snapped 10 feet up. I can tell you for a fact. That a tree like that makes no sound in the middle of a thunderstorm. At least none that you can hear.
We had a red pine not quite hat big snap 8 ft from our tent. We did not hear it snap or hit the ground. But I did get it on film
Erin is a tough woman! I’m impressed
