Roughly how old are cobbles and gravel that are tightly compacted and black.
Where i am i tend to find gold when i pull rocks that are black, i guess quite old but not sure exactly how long.

If a big boulder is blocking traffic in a river. Would behind that boulder be a good spot to look?
After the boulder is a inside bend that is washing out other heavy rocks, while faster flow is going around the bend. This is almost a shortcut for the river. It sort of splits and in high flow would be pushing heavy that way
