Ryu got big buff, much better fireball, better normal, damage and oki. He was not a bad character in S1, zero flaws but mediocre, with so many buffs he has a chance to compete with T0
At the same time Luke got big nerf, damage nerf, buttons nerf(hurts a lot since Luke game plan in high level is all about neutral, whiff punish)
Luke got some buff, but they either almost useless or so so. Even the best buff, 5HP, I don't know which pros could utilize it well
Whether Ryu or Luke, I hope there would have at least one character who based on honest neutral can shine in the tournament
@@computervision557 I mean after Combo Breaker there were more Luke players than Ryu players honestly and 1 of them almost won the tournament which was Noah the Prodigy. Who didn't really utilized much of Luke's buffs but still put on an impressive display with him.
Also Ryu just feels a bit stubby in a way with all his buffs he's got(but not much). The denjin charge is what I see is most change with him but on every thing else he just plays the same( as same as a Ryu gameplay is).
Of course this is a bit too early to tell or start assuming "Ryu is better than Luke" when some of the pro players are still maining Luke. For some like Kakeru, Tokido and Shuto drop their previous mains(or have them as secondary) for Akuma so time will tell.
But on a plus side, Lily stonks has risen thanks to Chakotay's run in Combo Breaker so I'm hoping more players will start to pick her up and try her (myself included).
