oh yeah, i wasnt knocking them, im all for everyone getting out in the woods how ever they can do it, trucks, atv's argos, dirt bikes, as long as everyones mudding and having a good time, cheers man.
There are tracks that do swim. Also, a lot of us do run ATV tires. If you look at the brown Max IV with the single bucket seat in this video, it has Super Swamper Vampire ASX tires on it. They do swim.
@griptracgo You can definitely tread lightly. Because of the six tires, these exert less than 1PSI of ground pressure. That's less than a person walking. And the steering is much more precise than a steering wheel. It doesn't take long to get use to and appreciate. Now suspension would be nice but we usually run the tire pressure around 1-3 PSI to help compensate for the shock. You can also add a suspension seat like the brown one has. That makes it more enjoyable too.
Hope everyone is enjoying the 6 and 8 wheel atvs! My Caution to everyone is USE seatbelts (ours wasn't equipped) if the vehicles are so equipped! I rolled one (got tossed out forward) back in 2001 , roll bar hit me in my left hip....the vehicle rocked twice with me under it and it was a MIRACLE that my hip wasn't broken, just out of place. I still hurt to this day! I called the manufacturer and asked about the braking system on the machine I was operating system and the weight of the machine,,, the Rep. hung up on me promptly! CAUTION everyone they WILL flip forward very easily!
The tires are what propel the vehicles when they are floating so if you want to move forward in the water, they have to be mounted that way. If they are mounted like a tractor, the vehicle won't move forward when it is floating.
does having tracks add speed in water? what about putting on ATV tires? how limited are they as to doing that? (have not searched for photos as of this post, but will after, mainly hoping for an opinion from whom has actually been in one of these machines!)
@THEDIXIEGUY1 If you are looking to buy new, the two main manufacturers are Recreatives Industries (RI) and Ontario Drive and Gear (ODG). RI manufactures the Max brand of ATVs and ODG manufactures Argo. You can visit both of their websites and they have sections where you can find a dealer near you. If you are looking for a used one, then come join 6x6 World and browse the classified section of the site or post a wanted ad.
and is the controls like 2 levers? 1 for forward /backward the left wheels, and vice versa for right wheels? if so....start practicing with rc cars....or helis...
Get an Argo 6x6 Frontier. The "big Boss" that PcExpertise is talking about is basically an ATV with an extra driving axle, and can't even go though a pond without destroying the engine.
1) do NOT add tracks to one of these when it goes through water, because it will get stuck, because the tires are specifically designed to tread water, and the tracks take that away, and you go virtually nowhere. 2) ATV tires wouldn't even fit, and they're not designed for treading through water and thick mud like the stock tires do. 3) These vehicles, as you can see, are limited at almost nothing. My family has an Argo 8x8 750 HDi, which I highly recommend.
they look like a rough ride, is there any suspension?, plus the trails around here theres a lotta dirt roads in between trails, do these things have a high top speed, so that when im goin from trail to trail it doesnt take me all day to get down the dirt roads??
That's only true for newer Argo brand ATVs. Many of the ones you see in this video are controlled with two levers. One for the left and one for the right like raottam mentioned.
So r they easy to build cause I'm liking them and I no I can't afford to buy one but I would like to make one so if u could let me no I would be grateful I would benefit me to do my disability.
These machines are cool as hell, but i never do understand why everyone that has one of these runs their tires backwards. For everyone that is going to say something stupid to me, go look at the rear tires on a farm tractor before you correct me.
awsom video, i am trying to upload my new video on to 6x6 world. have a look and let us know what you think - type - max 2 and argo conquest compilation - to see us on the airfield in our atv toys, we are 3rd from the bottom.
nothing says fun like person after person getting stuck in the exact same spot ... then celebrating when they manage to get through cllearly 8 wheels are better than 6
It's amazing how smooth the ride is with these without suspension.
oh yeah, i wasnt knocking them, im all for everyone getting out in the woods how ever they can do it, trucks, atv's argos, dirt bikes, as long as everyones mudding and having a good time, cheers man.
I remember being down there that weekend on my ATV. These things are crawling all over the place.
looks like you guys had a blast

Believe me, I have one, and it is 100 times better than any ATV you could ever find.
Wow guys, that looks like so much fun... Thanks for sharing.. Rich
I love the "Boing" sound effect at 54 seconds.
I highly recommend the Argo 8x8 750 HDi. If you want a 6x6, get the Argo 6x6 Frontier.
Super Viedeo. Da wäre ich gerne dabei gewesen!

Let's see how well that tractor swims. :)
Cool video, wish I could have made that ride, maybe sometime in the future.
Very great video! Keep going having fun and post!

I would hate to have to buy mud tires for this thing. YOU WOULD HAVE TO BUY 6! Great video though.
the tires seem backwards since they're designed to act like scoops in the water when you're running it in water.
cool man thanks for the reply
1) No there is no suspension.
2) The Argo 8x8, very similar to these, goes about 20 mph tops.

6:33 the 4axle seems to have a whole lot more traction

I wish I could get the funds to enjoy this too.
No, it's a handle bar, just like an ATV, although my dad and I wish they had joysticks.

With an Argo 8x8, the best engine you can get is a liquid cooled, 31 horsepower Kohler Ageis, with electronic fuel injection.

Haha it looked like the atv was humping the tree at 1:10
good stuff
@PcExpertise
How well does a Polaris float? Just curious.....
I've been looking at possibly getting one of these, how does it do in the water? Is it limited like a flat bottom John boat?
1:17...is he atv humping? and is there windsheild? and why u ppl shake side to side?
is there gear change as weel?
Hey guys luv ur vids just got a max ii with a 14hp luv it is there any mods i can do for extra power
