I absolutely love this young woman's voice. The richness of her voice in tone, color, texture and the way she can vary and modulate her unique instrument for me there is no voice that compares. Also, the fact that she is an artist in the true sense of the word and this is constantly conveyed in the way she constantly experiments, develops and grows as a vocalist. To me it is almost like she is her own genre of music and it is so fascinating to follow. For me she really exemplified how iconic her unique voice is in a recent televised performance of Sting's "desert rose". It is mind-blowing.

Diana has such a beautiful voice. She sings Russian folk repertoire with deep feeling for the songs and it absolutely shines through in performances like this. Similarly her performance of Quiet Outpost at the Nika awards ceremony shows her growing maturity

👉This sad folk song is about a Cossack who tells his bad dream and suspects that he will die. This song is well known in Russia - a folk hit. (The Russian folk soul loves melancholy, sad songs. Such songs are called 'crying.').
Diana hits the heart with her voice. I feel the fear and despair of the Cossack.Diana hits my heart with her voice. I feel the fear and despair of the Cossack. Just as the ice freezes under Diana's feet, my soul trembles with every step and these plaintive tones.
The guest of honour, said Diana would one day be as famous as the well-known legendary Russian singer Ludmila Zykina. Marc Tishman, one of the singers and jurors, gave a wonderful rating. He did not see the Cossack on stage who has a frightening dream of falling from his horse, but he saw a beautyful bride who is about to be married and who is worried about how her life will go.
The first existing recording of this song was made in the 1880s by a 75-year-old Cossack.
    Who were the Cossack?
The word comes from the Turkic (not Turkish) 'quzzaq' which means adventurer or free man. - were escaped serfs and adventurers. (Difference between Turkic and Turkish - ruclips.net/video/PqxhtBecVeg/видео.html ).
The history of the Cossack is very changeable and painful. These fierce warriors, who are excellent riders, have an air of romance about them. They lived quite isolated in the southern steppe region of Eastern Europe, Ukraine and the Asian part of Russia. Living in the middle of nowhere, they have developed their own culture and tradition, which is expressed in a certain way of life, in their own songs, clothes, etc.
Initially, the Cossack were oppressed by Catherine II and put up resistance. Catherine II soon recognized the advantages of border protection by light cavalry and assigned the Cossack their own territories on all of the empire's endangered borders. They provided the best riders in the Russian cavalry.
Loyalty to the tsars was rewarded with a great deal of independence and special rights. But precisely because the Cossack always stood by the tsars, they were persecuted, exterminated or deported after the 1917 revolution. But the Cossack spirit, traditions and especially their music did not dissipate. Cossack songs are one of the most important elements of their ethnic identity.
During World War II, Cossack in Europe volunteered under German command in hopes of returning home.
After the German defeat, the Cossack were handed over by the Western Allies to the USSR (Stalin) in Lienz/East Tyrol on June 1, 1945, in violation of the Geneva Convention.
Stalin pursued the Cossack and finally destroyed them. Many were deported to Siberia.
During the Soviet era, especially in the Stalin era after World War II, the number of Cossack fell from an estimated 11 million to 140,000. Only in 1992 were the Cossack rehabilitated by Boris Yeltsin (perestroika). Only a few Cossack survived and are now trying to build a new life for themselves.
For centuries, the Cossack kept to their customs, especially their music, an art of expression full of deep melancholy and exuberant temperament. These songs live on in the hearts of Russians. (www)

What does dr Dan mean by “tongue retention” in Diana’s singing technique? I think other than in Can’t help falling in love, there is no clearer demonstration than in this piece where her tongue is positioned in her mouth, ie flat and not pulled back and relaxed in the mouth. We have all seen other vocal specialists all try and mention her pulling her tongue back to achieve this tone, only to realise that there is no tongue manipulation. So this is quite confusing

I agree she isn't doing anything with her tongue she has a unique voice

I can't really explain what I think of how Diana sounds. What matters to me is that nobody in the world causes me to feel the emotions as much as Diana does. I can appreciate that other people have beautiful voices and high levels of skill. But they don't have the same impact on me.
When I first heard her (the contest performance of "Human"), I didn't understand how she could be so highly recommended. I thought that she sounded very strange. But, as the song continued, I was drawn into her world.
I will disagree on one point. I think that it is very important to watch Diana while she performs. I always feel somewhat cheated when I can only hear an audio recording.

👉 Hi Dr. Dan, do you honestly think that if Diana sang 'unhealthily' no one would ever have noticed and corrected her? Convince yourself and listen to the younger Diana.

Since the age of five, Diana has received professional singing training from renowned singing teachers and she has been giving solo concerts since the age of 11.
Diana graduated from high school with honors. She was able to skip a school year and is now in her 5th year of studying at the famous GITIS Academy (GITIS is the famous largest and oldest independent theatrical arts school in Russia, founded in 1878 - Julliard is similar). Dr. Dan. Diana Ankudinova is a vocal heavyweight, she can sing serious songs with her serious voice very seriously.
But here is a completely different case, an extremely frivolous situation with Diana, which happened at her concert.
Diana invited a pianist friend from the audience, his name is Jean, he is from France, but the guy came to Diana's concert.
Diana asks Jean to come up on stage so that he can accompany her on the piano in the song "Tombe la neige" by Salvatore Adamo, which Diana wants to sing.
Pianist Jean agrees, he comes on stage, sits down at the keys and starts playing.
But musical joker Jean does not play this song for Diana seriously. He changes the intro to the song, changes the tempo, the chords...
    Pianist Jean decided to joke.
But Diana wants to sing this song seriously, and without jokes.
What they got in the end, see for yourself.
    ruclips.net/video/VBDsvC4V9Sg/видео.html
And one more thing, doctor Dan. Tell me as a doctor of singing, who in this situation needs the help of a real doctor more, Diana Ankudinova or her pianist? 😊🤗🧐🤔???...
