  • A lot of this can be done in dry fire, particularly the motion of actually getting the mag into the mag well. However, Its important to live fire everything to see if the dry fire has been effective.

I discovered the same thing about pistol reloads in my firearms journey. Read about keeping the mag well perpendicular to the ground in a book. I think reloads should be primarily practiced in dry fire since it gives you the same rep.

100%. Draws, presentation, and reloads can all be repped effectively in dry fire. It’s always good to do them all in live fire as well though to make sure your grip and vision is locked in

    1 - what’s a gun range?
2 - if you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready. lol.
Don’t shoot as often as I need to, but I still have lots of draw, dry fire, transition, tac reloads, FTF drills. Mostly with my 10.5 now.

At first I wasn’t going a whole lot due not knowing what to work on. Now i go every weekend and one day out of the week. I use my ammo conservatively, reload drills and bill drills are my go to while being at the range. Working on putting shots down range a lot faster. I’m not bad but I’d like to be a bit faster. Great video man!!

I’d say you can work the movements of reloads primarily in dry fire and then focus on drills that test your fundamentals at the range, but it’s definitely good to do reloads in live fire every now and then. Take a look at the gateway defense standards and give them a run. They test a lot of different things at once and can give you an idea of what you need to work on.

I was nice to meet you brother, can you add mag extensions to your duty weapon? I have found that the extra weight helps with the mags just dropping out. Thanks for letting me try your AR with the Huxwrx Flow 556 suppressor.

Yeah, we can. I just choose not to because with the mag extension it pushes into the seat and makes it uncomfortable when sitting in the car

Retired but I dry fire four times per week and I shoot at least two IDPA &/or USPSA matches per month. Not much if any live fire practice due to time/location/budget. Look up Rob Epifania’s reloads. You want the fastest reloads possible. 🇺🇸

Is your mag well hanging the mags up?I carry a G17, but do not have an added mag well to avoid anything preventing mag from falling out freely. Shouldn’t have to John Wick flick it..

No I don’t have any after market magwells. When I keep the gun upright it falls right out. I’m pretty much inducing it myself by flicking it. Can’t quite remember what caused me to start flicking it

Active LEO. I try to go once a week/every other week. I'm only 5 minutes from my local range and there's never anyone there which is nice. I try to shoot at least 100 rounds every range session. I'd like to shoot more per session but $$$. Back in the day I would buy my ammo from Walmart and I could get a value/bulk box of federal aluminum for a great price but those days are long gone.

Take a look at freedom munitions man! Their reman 115gr 9mm is like $0.23 a round. Cheapest I’ve seen.
