How did the achieve 5he lapis blue one sees in paintings of the period on fabric. Woad or indigo or both?

Both woad and indigo were apparently being used in this era, but the blue seen in paintings is not necessarily fully achievable with medieval dyestuffs. Using blue paint - i.e. lapis lazuli pigment - was just another method of conspicuous consumption in the 15th century! 😅

@thecreativecontessa so they probably didn't use lapis to die fabric. It would be taking conspicuous consumption to the stratosphere
