Hey I’m in high school rn, and still have a year or two to graduate. If you already did the mcat, I was wondering if you could tell me what exactly you study in medical school and if the mcat requires math?..
Got everyone right except for the Tollen's Reagent, remember it from OCHEM 2 but I did not know how to look for a reducing carbohydrate - thanks to you now I know to refresh up on some OCHEM and hemiacetals and acetal groups
Were questions 14,16, and 17 all requiring some biochemistry knowledge? I have not taken biochem yet and there is no way I was going to figure these out the way you did. I had no clue on 17, didn't know what made something a reducing sugar on 16, and the only reason I knew 14 was because I knew the structure of steroids.
For last question, when would you include the terminal charges and when would you only look at side chain charges? Can we assume that the question is only asking for the charges of the side chains without the charges from the N and C termini? Thanks for the explanations!
you include both terminal and side chain charges every time, assume that they are always talking about both terminal and side chain charges. Since the pH is 8 I can assume the charges are those found at physiolgical pH which makes things easier
I was the same way and only started studying this June. I think what’s been helping me so far is creating a schedule and sticking to it. I broke down my study week by week and it’s helped make the material more manageable.
Hey, i am looking to help people by making these type of videos but i am worried about copy right laws if i use aamc or blue print material… since you posted this can you tell me what you know about the legality of it? Thanks! Hope to make videos like yours soon!
Hey Im a uk student that wants to apply to an American med school however naturally I don’t know anything about the mcat. I wanted to know where I can find some resources to study for it
Thank you for the video, will be watching other of your videos to study because I have to retake the exam and I think I need help in these types of questions 😢
I did these through Jack Westin and they were really helpful in clearing up my biochem content! :)
Thank you Erick! That CaCl one I never understood but how you broke it down was super clear!

@@Ok-fp9simcat will require math, however the math being used is part of chemistry and it wouldnt be calculuas or stats or etc related
@@aidencho1950 oh, I’ve heard it has pre calculus though
@@Ok-fp9si its just for ur resume, it wont show up in ur mcat TEST

You are the man!!!
I think learning the etymology of the term acetyl is crucial for this.
Thanks very educational!
Thank you Erick!
New sub here Erik. I need a refresher... Thank you!

A bit late but yes, biochem is necessary, unless you had an intro to biochem in ochem

I don’t really know where to start studying

Look into the Kaplan prep books / prep courses they’re really good. (From a fellow non-American trying to work things out)
