As an Ogryn main, I honestly can't recommend it for new players, better off with Zealot or Veteran, as the Ogryn is not only slower and larger, but has a shorter dodge distance as well, meaning unless you know how to Dodge-Slide Trappers and Mutants are going to quickly become the bane of your existence. Also for the love of the God-Emperor, don't shoot diving Pox-Bursters, all you're doing is causing them to immediately explode ontop of your allies. And for you dodge spammers, rebind Dodge or Jump, there's a .2s delay between dodges when you have them bound to the same key that can lead you to jumping rather than dodging.
Came here to say this. Ogryn is awesome fun to play but gets steadily harder the higher you go in difficulty- it also teaches you some bad habits because of how easy it is to bully everything (you may never understand maulers or crushers at all unless you step off of ogryn). Not to say you shouldn't play it, but it's worth knowing that things change a lot once you get into aurics.
Ogryn is weirdly almost the strongest class while simultaneously being the easiest to screw up if you don't understand the mechanics. Once you know what you're doing he just Wkeys the game. But its really easy for newer players at high difficulty to think he's weak because of his downsides.
@@OhDough Ogryn next to zealot are very tanky from just doing jobs right. Zealot may play a bit different, but it does have some good sources of toughness regen that make it near unkillable at times.

Good quick run through of good info! Small error though at 19:30 in the stims, yellow's ability cooldown reduction for its duration. The blue one actually increases reload speed, melee speed and stamina oriented stats, speed stuff in general
I got about 2000 hours in the game, something i noticed while playing is that you can tell if a special or boss is coming for you just by the sound of it spawning. For example, a special that comes after you may have a louder sound when it spawns or if it isn't after you it may have a slightly quieter sound(This is what I experience, if you don't well you don't). Mutants or muties are, in my opinion, the easiest to tell if it's after you. When it's coming for you, it tends to make louder footsteps even if it is still a decent way away. Another thing if a mutie is coming what looks like at you but looks slightly to the right or left it may not be after you but still dodge just incase and don't be like me who runs right past it ignoring its existence.
But have to remember, game has bugged sound and when there is a lot of action there might be no sound at all for disablers like dog, trapper or even boxbursters. And some maps have spots where sounds are bugged aswell.
@StoicismIsDaWay oh i know all the spots that tend to have slient specials, I always check every flanking spots the specials could take while in those areas and in general. The amount of times I have been jumped by silent hounds has me on edge

I would add that there is another fundamental to the combat in this game: toughness management. Although dodging, blocking, pushing, and sliding all help to prevent taking toughness, when you inevitably take toughness damage you need to have a way to replenish it because its the only thing preventing you from taking permanent health damage from damage bleed through, which scales up the less toughness you have. I believe managing toughness is one of the most important skills to have, and this is generally managed through real time combat but the strategy to replenishing toughness is primarily based on the talents/blessings your build has. Pairing all of these things together, of course, creates an extremely cohesive experience that makes you feel very powerful and is extremely fun.
"Marks change how the weapon feels to use and what its good at." Well, marks can sometimes significantly change the weapon's special attack. e.g. shotgun marks change the special loaded round to either a slug, a wide horizontal spread, or incendiary.
Yippee Darktide content, also check out Psychanum on the ship, I believe the mode there is called “slaughter” or smth like that, the last one in list, where u can check weapon fire and see actual stats of enemies, theur armor types and etc, like in a real match in different difficulties, this helps to find weak spots of certain enemy types and see which armor in enemy is which, bc sometimes carapce and flak on them visually looks the same🥲

Crusty derptide veteran here: Here are some lifehack tips. Separate your jump button and dodge button. This lets you use side dodges at will, rather then needing a tricky movement input then spacebar input (that makes you jump in the air like an idiot if you time it wrong) Two, dodges have s, like..Dark Souls s, you can just about anything so long as you dodge at the time. Mastering dodges will increase surviveability substantially, as even ranged shots can be d. This goes back to tip one, using side dodges as a lateral movement while charging heavies. Crabwalk toward you victim while charging a heavy, using a side dodge to close and prevent any hits that would cancel your heavy charging, then enjoy a confirmed hit. The melee is more in depth than beginners’ realize. And the most important values you will want on a weapon is cleave, which lets you hit more enemies through (hit mass) which is how thicc a given mob is. Some weapons completely ignore this under certain conditions. Others, are nearly useless without a *certain blessing* that ignores hit mass. I wont really elaborate as most of my fun and experience with the game is learning just how deep, the deceptively complex melee combat actually is. Final tip, just because it's a hybrid shooter, don't forget to consider positioning, shooting is an important of the game, a bad position out in the open can end a game near instantly.
