    I remember many many years ago playing an incredible and vast prison escape adventure map on PE before redstone. The map used two stone slabs as immovable door barriers, and you had to find sand to unlock doors and progress. One of the coolest maps ever. Anyone else remember it?

    There is one redstone alternative I have found to be really useful for extremely cheap farm designs. You can use a mix of pressure plates, fences, and other wood blocks along with water and boats to create repeating clocks without any redstone. I have spent many hours designing a bunch of different clock designs using this.

    I once tried building Redstone devices without using most of the components. The specific list of banned items was determined by the banned items on a Mr. Beast build battle server from several years ago, as it actually still allowed lamps, doors, comparators, repeaters, redstone blocks, buttons, levers, and item frames to work.
    Things that it DISALLOWED placing include redstone dust, torches, observers, pistons, dispensers and droppers, and water did not flow and was not able to turn into bubble columns.
    Despite this, while following all the restrictions, I was able to make a base 10 number input that would use comparators to send values down the line with signal strength, which would then save into a redstone RAM lock and convert the signal strength in memory into a 7 segment display built with lamps, and used a counter to determine which digit was being saved into, meaning up to 16 digits were possible to store and display at once, with a clear memory button of course. I’m also convinced that an adder circuit would have been possible to make.
    Having said all this, there’s some things to clarify. 1) The available components do not allow signals to be sent up or downwards, so everything was made flat on the ground, with the display facing up. 2) I did not build this in the time available, it was actually designed after the build battle on a super flat world, but followed all the required restrictions.

    I use water currents, pressure plates, boats and trapdoors and tripwire hooks to make circuits in my Skyblock worlds (before making a witch farm and getting redstone), all wood based and "redstone complete"
    It has the advantage of not needing a manual reset, like the sings.
    But I can see usage for signs, I'll totally add that to my "woodstone" toolbox (redwood?)

    My favourite that you didn’t mention are stone walls. When you have a block next to a tower of stone walls and then move it, every wall in the column updates instantly, which can be used with observers. It’s instant vertical redstone!

    For even better components, mix the two concepts of Redstone and redstoneless contraptions
    For example, the first thing showcased here is an infinite "redstone" line, the video uses Signs for the horizontal line, which when compared with Redstone, it's a lot faster since you dont need Repeaters to do this, however, if we mix the two concepts, we get a new mechanism, for example, using Sticky Pistons to update Leaves by pushing a Log towards the Leaves, and having an Observer check for the change, this now also works vertically, in a diagonal, and in many directions, plus, its MUCH better to avoid lag

    The only problem I see with these is that none are repeatable. Every time you use these you have to manually set them back up. Sure, if you intend for something to be single use these are great, but I don't think anyone wants to set up 20 signs again every time they use their door. I may find use for some of these mixed with redstone. Something you might find interesting and perhaps be able to find a use for, tnt minecarts are more volatile that just tnt, when activated they blow up immediately as opposed to tnt blocks which have a delay.

    If not for the fact it’s one-use I think ‘signstone’ would be useful, put an observer at the end with a zero-tick repeater and you have a cheap infinite redstone line

    When looking for an alternative to redstone, “single-use” isn’t what comes to mind

    • @captainkizer
      @captainkizer Месяц назад

      Well when this was at it's peak, the actual alternative was nothing at all since just about all modern redstone functionality simply didn't exist on MCPE.

    You dont need powered rails to push a minecart, the old alpha cart boosters still work, just not as well they as they used to.

    Part two better include using Creaking in the redstone. Mumbo just did a video using psychic redstone on it

    Is that an AND gate at the end?
    Computation Redstone without redstone might be possible

    • @Jay1717_
      @Jay1717_ Месяц назад

      Also it's possible
      I found a way to make an XOR gate and converting numbers in binary is easy but converting back to normal is hard

      @Jay1717_ That’s super neat! I already know most/if not all contraptions need manually reset though so its going to be difficult making it easily resettable - I am sure there’s a way though

    • @Jay1717_
      @Jay1717_ Месяц назад

      @@ksauceyt it's fine for single use calculator and that's what I am aiming for and not for reset, do you know a way to convert binary to normal numbers?
