I have this turntable also now from a person that never used it. It was just standing on top of a cabinet. The sound is quite good, I was really surprised.
This was the first turntable I bought when I decided to get into vinyl about 20 years ago. The base model is still around - at least, the case design is - in the form of the Audio Technica LP60: www.whathifi.com/audio-technica/lp60-usb/review For £100 for the USB-equipped version you still can't go far wrong with this as an introductory turntable.
Thank you for the video. This is the one that taught me the most. I have two aiwa PX-E850 turntables and one needle falls very hard on the vinyl, falling free. I think I know where to graduate this.
I have one of these turntables myself. I recently after nearly 30 years had to bring down the speed of the 33rpm for similar reason as yourself, now working like new. Not bad for a turntable from the 90s. One thing though, I think the slipmat should be the other way round on the smooth side.
I found this turntable at a thrift store. It plays a little too slow. I changed the belt, that helped some. Still slow. Do you know how to turn the speed up?
@@BuyandSellwithBill Underneath the turntable, there's two holes near abouts in a corner one marked 33 & the other 45 and they lead up like flathead rubber screw type fitting in a drum where both speeds can be adjusted.
@@Sheffield_Steve Can I just check something? Is it the soft rubber screw heads that need to be turned, or do you push through those to reach another harder screwhead underneath them? I have seen the latter suggested online, but want to verify that before giving it a go.
@@lewisallcock7400 I can refer you to the answer from @THA REAL just take it gently tho, with them being rubber screws but it worked a charm for me. It will speed up a fair bit while you have a screwdriver in & twisting the screw. But you will eventually find your right speed.
+Marcos Roberto de Souza Junior I don't know how to do it exactly but usually you would have to get a strobe disc (downloadable) and a strobe light like a tungsten light and then adjust the speed adjustment screw while it's turning. There are good manuals for that all over the web I guess.
I have the px e850, (inherited from my dad) and the turntable won’t stop spinning? I’m not sure how to fix it .... also the tone arm won’t move to play the first song, it always goes to either the end (if it’s a long song) or on to the second ...
I have the same turntable and I have a problem with it, the plate is faster than expected, should be 33 1/3 but it is 35 and sounds different, every thing sounds like a semitone higher, I appreciate the help
i solve the the same problem as you, open the back, locate the motor, the spray rust remover right at the hole where trimmer for speed control is located, done it will be back to the correct speed.
@@kokokloa2282 thanks for your help, appreciate It. Now I have another question the turntable has another hole that says SW by any chance do you know what Is It?
I had the same record player a while back just to enjoy at home, I had to modify it slightly as a few of the newer records are slightly bigger than 12". Not the best looking player but it did the trick
Mh, it should just be clipped in I think. I don't have the turntable anymore so I can't check in person. Usually you can pull the needle assembly off pulling it straight out from the holder, parallel to the arm.
It's definitely a good one for what I suspect it costs. There are wayyyy better turntables, of course. That's why I refer to it as "plastic grade" in the description. ;)
HI Jan, I have just found you here and this was a good video as I have a 90s Aiwa turntable. I am looking to fix a skating/skipping issue that it has and I hope you have a video where you will show how to adjust these things on that turntable. It does not have the same dials as other better record players.
Ah, I didn’t do any additional work on this Aiwa, it worked fine and I gave it to a friend (who I think is still using it to this day). You may be able to find a service manual for your particular one on vinylengine or a similar site. Instructions for setting up anti skate should be in there, if the turntable has a setting for it at all (some of the basic models are just set up from factory and you can’t change the settings manually afterwards unfortunately). Hope that helps!
Hello. my turntable goes a little fast. There is two holes marked 33 and the other 45. Can i adjust the speed? In each holes there is a kind of screw to turn. In which direction should i turn them to decrease the speed of the turntable?
Usually the screws have little adjustable resistors that control the speed for the 33 and 45 rpm settings, yes. It depends on your turntable which way you have to turn them. You can try to find a manual for your specific turntable or just use a trial and error approach. :)
ik it's a bit late of an answer but for future reference if anyone needs it, it's most likely based of an AT3600 cart and replacement styli for that cart should fit fine.
@@lesrogers7310 Thanks, duder. I just bought a yellow one that is said to fit the ATN3600L. This comment was a big help for me to find one. I just picked up this same Aiwa turntable at a flea market.
@Shane Detwiler, you are welcome sir. The stylus you have (being the yellow one) is the AT91 which some say is better than the AT3600L. Even the aftermarket non-branded versions of this are actually very good. Anyway, enjoy your music....
If all else fails, there are special pliers for the job. They push the lock outwards and pull it away from the axis at the same time. Usually you can just use brute force and a screwdriver.
I found this turntable at a thrift store. It plays too slow. I changed the belt, it helped a bit, but still too slow. How do you adjust the speed? Where it says 33 and 45 underneath, there’s nothing to turn.
actually, mine suddenly going pretty slow all of a sudden. all I did was take a bottle of zoom spout oil (10w non-detergent sewing machine oil, I actually have some because I collect fans and use it on them) and put a couple drops in the motor, and it works like new.
Still got this turntable 23 years after I bought it - in full working order too!!

You do have the slipmat on the platter upside down, though.

there are RPM calculator android apps that can do that, one use the magnetic sensor and the other use the gyroscope of the smartphone
I do have a similar one. But I cant find any informations about setting up the arm for example
On many of the less expensive turntables, the arms are pre-setup for the specific pickup/stylus they use and don’t even have any adjustments.

It has the same design as the Audio Technica AT LP60

I have one like this> I too had to find the needle and a belt for it, so try ebay. I did and got results.

My turntable is the Aiwa 850. The same of the video. The songs on LP goes two seconds faster than the Cd version.
I have one, but I need a speaker or something to connect it and listen.
How do you replace the needle?
Grab the stylus on both sides (white plastic part) and push it down slightly then pull it from the cartridge body.
where is the speaker port
Thank u 💕💕💕
what kind of head/stylus would you recommend for this one,I´m offered one kind of cheap :)
Oh, I think you don't have much choice and have to use one of the proprietary ones they offer.
