Blackie, Thank You for sharing this information, and Tips and Tricks how to smooth it in the woods. This Holiday Day Is To Remember The Heros That Didn't Make It Back Home, and Gave Their Lives For Freedom. God Bless Y'all. Tim Lacy U.S.Army Vet.
Blackie, tell those looking for a hat to check out the Stetson Elkhart. It’s a crushable felt very similar to the hat that you wear. Mine is a dark sage green similar to the color of yours but it’s available in a couple of colors.
I enjoy bushcrafting, learning skills and hearing others share their experiences. I believe in having a three day survival/get home bag. It makes sense to prepare. But to be honest almost everyone knows that beneath all of this is the idea that we need to prepare for surviving the end of civilization. Yes we talk about that too but never or almost never talk about that unsolvable and Un survivable problem of what do you eat after your supplies are gone. You simply cannot get enough calories or protein from the plants and edibles you can gather in the wild. And hunting and fishing is so hit or miss that it cannot be depended on. So all of the youtubers chose to simply not deal with this issue. Did you know that the winner of Alone season 9 stuffed himself before the challenge gaining 60 lbs of fat just so he could survive the Un survivable longer than the others? This is the biggest problem that hangs over all preppers and survivalists and bushcrafters and no one will talk about it. Let's put this on the table and deal with it.
Good thinking on your part. But, if I'm planning for the Apocalypse, I'm not gonna gain 60 lbs for something that might happen maybe 5 yrs from now. I don't want to die of coronary failure 2 yrs before it happens. The Alone guy knew exactly when to plan for, which is totally ok but totally different.
@@kylewilkinson6975 I'm so sorry that ALL you got out of that was that the winner on Alone had to gain 60 lbs to survive the challenge. It was nothing more than an example to illustrate how important food is and how difficult it is to acquire. In fact I would recommend that people lose weight to survive. I remained the same weight for some 50 years, 230 lbs, but a few years ago decided to lose some weight (30 lbs) since it changed from muscle to fat (i'm 80 YO and not in shape anymore). This means, in theory, that I can carry a 30 lb pack and function pretty much as I was before I lost the weight. But the point of my comment is what we will most likely die from after SHTF is starvation and there is so much we need to learn and these RUclips channels would seem to be the logical outlet for that learning. I would simply like to see more emphasis placed on surviving as a native hunter/gatherer and that means without a gun. This is a tough problem, our community needs to put more time and energy into it.
I have it made in west virginia by possum pouch.com if you would like to order one go to downndirtywoodscraft@gmail.com and request order info i will send you the info from there
