Eating more onions and garlic in your diet helps keep the flies and mosquitoes away naturally. I had an old Warrant Officer that was in the Vietnam war and he always ate onions, onion soup, fresh garlic, and garlic salt. He told me to add that to my diet and you would not need to use repellents. Plus repellents worked against you as the enemy could smell you. Onions and garlic made you smell more like the enemy. The acids in onions and garlic leach out in your sweat and keeps the mosquitoes and flies away. I started do that when I deployed to Central and South America and it worked. Works great here in the U.S..
true eating garlic was a fav of my uncle
In the coastal regions in California grows the California Bay Loral. Crushing the leaves of this tree then rub the oils on your clothes, and skin if your not sensitive, will discourage biting bugs.
good to know thank for sharing
Hello Blackie as always great to see you again stay safe outdoors God bless you always
Thank you kindly
Nicely done ! Great information ! FYI >>> I had to go to the emergency room one evening... felt sick, sluggish, flu like ache symptoms, etc... I was in my 50's ... ER Doctor couldn't pin-point the problem. He said possibly an upper respiratory infection. Still felt bad for a couple more days until I was in the shower and noticed something inside my belly button and when I got out of the shower I felt something abnormal in the belly button recess. IT WAS A TICK...and it "the tick" was swollen up full of blood. I layed down and put Peroxide in there and let it set a few moments. The tick pulled out easily. My sickness wore off the next day. #IHATETICKS Nasty lit'l critters. TRUE STORY. ...Alan in 🇨🇱
they can make you sick i had friends that got sick and day later they found the tick
Love the haversack...looks even better than the Pathfinder
thank you
Good tips and tricks. I have found that when I eat Onions and Garlic the bugs don't want anything to do with me. I also use Permethrin on my gear and clothing and let it dry before using them.
good idea
BLACKIE....I DID NOT KNOW YOU HAVE KIN YEMEM.... PLEASE READ YOUR COMMENTS. AND COMMENT ON COMMENT.. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO. . GOD BLESS...
Got it tis the season for all the youtube crazies to post
Permethrin on the clothes and Ben's 100 on the skin is the way to go!!
Happy father’s day!!! I would still pay extra for the upgrades. Ive waited 2 plus years to buy because you are doing great work improving your product.
I'm a firm believer in. No perfumes, deodorants or anything with a fragrance and that includes clothes. The all natural smell is the only way to go. At least it helps.
i agree it will draw bugs
Hello, sir! I just wanted to say that I'd be willing to pay top dollar for one of your haversacks. If you're making a premium product, it's reasonable that I pay a premium price for it. That said, perhaps the cost would come down a bit if you shipped us the materials and had us assemble it ourselves. It would offer a little room for us to make our own modest modifications and would save your niece some time. To go even further, you could sell the assembly instructions and specific items (how to make oilcloth/waxed canvas, which zippers and snaps you recommend, etc) and have us buy exactly what we need. That would bring the number of shipments down to one; supplier to us, because you could send the instructions by email. Just riffing here. Take care out there!
@blackie, stop. LOL You have to give us that picture you used as a thumbnail I need that as wallpaper :)
lol
@@BLACKIETHOMAS I really do want it :)
I've always used Dawn dish on tissue to remove imbedded ticks. Put a dab on tissue & tick and they backout . I 've used colloidal silver on tick and chigger bites along with mosquito bites.
Good info Blackie , . Nice design on the haversack. The B vitamins & the petro jelly are new tricks for this ol silver wolf to learn. Thank you.
Just got back from a fishing trip with my father and uncle for fathers day, my uncle caught a 6 pound bass and 24 inch pike. But the deer flies and horse flies tore us up quite literally.
Biggest problem for me is the perfume or chemical smell of repellents. For allergies I have been taking Allegra for years. You can get generic over the counter these days. But the bites and stings I use to suffer for days are hardly noticeable in an hour. Even a bumblebee sting on my hand was no trouble within and hour. One thing that Kenny Salwey mentions is to pick a loose long sleeve shirt and treat it with repellent and only use it when you go in to bad mosquito country. He had some shacks in the backwaters of the Mississippi River in Wisconsin which is a really bad area for them. He traveled around wearing the shirt and when he was done he hung it up. Never washed it or wore it anywhere but in those areas. His books about being an old time river rat and growing up poor on a Wisconsin farm is a great read for anyone. He became somewhat of a conservationists in his old age. He still hunted and fished but writes and speaks at schools. I think Blackie would find him a kindred spirit. ruclips.net/video/RSbyibXfFTs/видео.htmlsi=bBtG0Z5x4ELXSUY3
i think i would
cedar oil... If you walk into a stand of cedar trees you will not see any flying/biting bugs (spiders not withstanding)
Howdy,, this yr has been the worst for nc and ticks and mowskitoes ,, within two days ive had to remove two ticks from my dangly parts man talk about itchy misery 😂😂 thanks Mr Black
Nice design, practical. Loaded is too heavy for a far trek. Design it to clip to a H or Y harness.
Try Sawyer Picaridin insect repellent comes in a spray or lotion…I use the lotion to keep ticks out of my body wear your clothing has openings neck face hands above your socks especially ears. Then spray your clothes with Sawyer Permethrin it last 6 weeks or six washes the stuff is great. I have a lot of deer and wildlife so we get a ton of ticks but not with the Sawyer stuff and it helps with mosquitoes and I have a fish pond. Have fun stay safe.
@blackoracle I got ate up with seed ticks when I was a kid. Pop put some "coal oil" in a tub of water, had me soak in it. To smother them suckers. Any idea where you can get coal oil anymore
Nothing will prevent leeches but you can disuade them with deet and sanitizers if you have nothing else. Keep your pants and shirt tucked in.
Haversack looks Great, Would like to see a couple D-Rings on them, one on each side, or at least just one…to clip something on the haversack
50/50 witch hazel and skin so soft
Add a few drops of your favorite essential oils like peppermint, lemon, tea tree, spearmint, citronella.
Shake well and spray it on or apply like a lotion.
(Witch Hazel is cheap compared to skin so soft)
Repels bugs and is good for your skin. 🤗💞
I hope those haversacks become reality. I'd definitely buy one
i will do my best
These haversacks (gen1, gen2, gen3); worth it. Great handy bag to have.
A gal told me downy fabric sheets rubbed on you repels mosquitos the best.
Have you heard of Lemon extract and Grape seed oil as a mosquito repellant?
The algorithm. Again.
Great bag, nice and practical.
I’d buy a pattern if you sell one to make my own haversack but I hope you make them
I have great results with picardin bug repellent
Local saps also do the trick for ticks and some saps are even anti-viral
Bugs love me. Three times in the urgent care!!
Great advice, thank you!
I live south of Willian Collins and north of the Gulf Coast. A mixture of piney woods and marshlands. The best brand for my area I have found is a brand called ‘Marshlands’.
i will look it up
Thermacell works really well in no-wind conditions.
For body-wide bite relief, a shower with a peppermint shower gel if you can find any.
thanks for watching
I am not a medical professional, but most folks would benefit from B 12 and other supplemts due to the lack of nutrients in the soil and the American diet. Please consult with your Doctor prior to making any changes in the supplements you are considering taking. Everyone is different.
i agree
The best mosquito repellent I ever had was Rhodesian Ridgebacks. They're bred to not have insects bother them. I had them for twelve years and mosquitos rarely bothered me when their scent was on me.
nice
goedenavond Blackie! ik ben diabetisch muggen vliegen voor mij een stukkie om !!! Metformine!!!😀👍
thanks
keep us posted on the havesak...Quality gear is worth the cost to me.
Will do!
Using a ThermaCell hooked to my belt or pack has worked well for me.
awesome
Blackie, how and what did you use to treat that horse fly bite you got in a recent video?
i put dirty woodsman drawing salve on it for 48 hrs and it kept it from going infection
Are the Silver wolves payin attention? Class for Oct has already started! Thx Blackie!.. also sir, I emailed you about a spot. I dont know if you got it? And nothing I "click" on takes me to "dndwc"... please advise.

Awesome tutorial brother..!! 🐻
Thank you! Cheers!
HEY BLACKIE GOOD STUFF, THANKS!
Any time!
Simple reason for me. Woods got tics and I likes meats. 😆
lol
We no longer bounce, we stick when we hit
sad but true
Thanks for the useful advice, Mr. Thomas. Knew about treating clothing, have an old flannel shirt that I've used for years that I treat with Insect repellant. It always worked well for me. Several of your suggestions, I'vd not heard previously, but will add them to my arsenal of outdoor lore... Cheers.

Cool !! Happy Father's Day to y'all !!!! 👍✌️🤟🙏
Same to you!
Great video, Blackie!
Thanks!
👍👍
nice looking Red Hawk. Have some deet and permitrhin ordered , trying to get equipment ready to take the boys out. This was a timely video.
Blackie ain't thats for sure😳🤣🤣
Good tick tip.
Glad you liked it
Citronella
,keep it in the family
Great tips! Especially the b vitamins.
🤞 on the Redhawk❗️
I am a firm believer that 2 really important kit components are bug repellent and sunscreen, but most “here is what I carry” show & tells don’t even mention them. Thank for giving the bug repellent some much deserved air time.
Thanks for sharing!!
Hello Blackie, I appreciate that you want to keep costs down. Another option is to sell your pattern to people who have the ability to make them ourselves. I actually enjoy making well designed bags. Being a woman, I can imagine using beautiful colored or patterned canvas and adding decorative stitching. 😅 Yeah. That’s just my bent. 🤭
i will think about it
Blackie that was a great bit of information for us silver wolfs I absolutely love your information it makes sense I know the bark removal and it sucks thank you Blackie 👍
thanks for watching
It's hard to believe, but you always have a great video. Thank you, again. Take care and God bless!
Thank you very much!
Thankyou Blackie for covering more on bug repellent in this video.

Barney Fife, said it best.... You gotta nip it, nip in bud
Timely video Blackie, thank you. Good tip about the lidocaine.
Any time!
Good tips Blackie, thanks for sharing YAH bless !
My pleasure
Awesome video 👍🏼
As a Florida bowhunter for over 30 years I treat clothes and boots with Permethrin, run a Thermocell for mosquitos and wear a pricey but affective Shannon's Bug Tamer. Too hot? Dip it in water and put it back on. Great video.
Thanks for sharing!
Where do you get the permethrin?
@@shanemiller6982 Walmart camping section
👍👍
They are for sure attracted to blood type. What about garlic 🧄 it repelled vampires and blood suckers. And the undead .
it will change your PH like the b vitamins and so make you taste bad to the bugs
