Looks so great, unfortunately this doesn't work as of August 2024. Freeform Sheets has been "upgraded" though I use that word very lightly. It seems more like they downgraded it and got rid of a lot of the buttons this guy is using. I spent a couple days trying to figure out any workarounds to still get this operational, but the nail-in-the-coffin is that double clicking the @ text boxes no longer lets you input a new value. In fact, double clicking them doesn't do anything outside of your template document. So you need to resort to just filling it out like a regular pen-and-paper doc. The closest I could get to operational was filling the System's character sheet out fully, then changing the sheet's "Sheet" to the FFS template. But not only does that mean you'd need to make a template for every player, but it also means you're still maintaining a system sheet instead of being able to actually edit a FFS sheet. It's just adding an extra step to make the sheet "pretty".

Hi ive been following your videos whilst trying to build my own DnD inspired campaign, however I get figure out how to get combat to work, any chance you could do a video on that?

I was trying to follow along and at 2:00 you create the template actor and a completed character sheet pops up in the background! Presumably that comes from the system you installed? So does this only work when you are pulling stuff off an existing sheet? Just totally confused by this.

Yes you have to have a system installed (I chose 5e as it was a d20 system), pick up a system that is close to the game you want to play. When you create a freeformsheet template it will link to the underlying character sheet from the system you are using.

Can you add a character portrait?

I get that you’re using the 5e system as a base, but what did you do to change some of the stats in the 5e character template? For example, in Skills you have “Riddle” and “Travel”. And a number of other small changes. What allows this? Thank you for these great videos!

I'm using the Lord of the Rings 5e module that changes the skills in base 5e

This is pretty cool. Is there some location or list of the common command strings? (for dice rolls commands of various types with or without mods, variosu field options etc). I have tried to create my own sheets but always seem to hit stumbling blocks
because I am not that familiar with all the command strings.

Always read the GitHub page of the module for documentation and the help pop out in the freeform sheets title bar has a quick reference
