- Here's a fly on the wall look at a class I recently taught at the Don Lafontaine Voice-Over Lab at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation in Hollywood. I did my best to re-create a standard animation session for the students where we read 2 episodes of Johnny Test. Had a lot of fun and hope you enjoy it. SUBSCRIBE!! THX
Tidus is an awesome teacher
I honestly loved this video. I LOVE seeing the BTS of recording sessions. I'd actually like to see more like this.
Hey James! I'm a post sound editor currently working on my first audio drama and about to direct for the first time as well. I'm finding it very useful to hear how your directing the actors in a session. Thanks for making this video. I think it's really awesome and helpful to see an actual demonstration of a recording session. Thanks for all the work you do for your channel!
This is exactly the kind of experience I've been hoping to get! I have acted out scripts on the phone with my coach before, but it was never the studio setting I was hoping for. I would love to do a workshop like this! Thank you so much for posting this James! I'm going to see if I can find a similar workshop for the Vancouver area!
So much fun! Thanks again for doing this, James!
You were great!
This is absolutely amazing to watch. Thanks JAT.😁😁

This is AWESOME! Very inspiring!
awesome video! That was fun to watch.
This is great man, good stuff IF ONLY I KNEW TIDUS WAS DOING THIS EARLIER.
Very cool! I am a new comer to the VO world and have been doing the P2P sites and and freelancing, thus have been non union. But this is the kind of stuff I'd love to lean into! Thanks for putting this kind of material out there!
This is cool. Thank you James.
Thanks, James! Very, interesting!!!! I love these videos!
Thank you so much for this AWESOME video. Im a singer and these warm up exercises and communication tips taught me a lot!
This was good, thanks for sharing! I always like seeing behind the scenes and learning more about VO work.
I would love to see more of these class type videos, very hands on, love it.
That's kinda funny. I've been doing the sort of humming through the nose thing for years when I have a tickle up there, but can't quite get a sneeze to trigger. Now I learn it's a voice exercise.
This was awesome!
That was super interesting. Can we see more of these?
This was such a good video!!
Really awesome learned alot thanks!
Wonderful stuff here, cheers James! :D
Your one of a kind man
Thank you so very much for this!
Loved this! :)
Utterly fantastic stuff. Being in the booth takes everyone out of their comfort zone and it's amazing +James Arnold Taylor - do you do any remote coaching sessions or is it strictly in person in LA? If you do, I'd love to chat. Over on the East coast here.
I am planning on setting up some satellite classes on my RUclips channel soon. Be watching and follow me on Twitter for more updates... @JATactor THX
So nice guy :)
Johnny Test Johnny Johnny
I really wish I could find something like this in NZ. I'm quite interested in voice acting and my voice is a weird mix of NZ/British accent with a Japanese high pitched voice XD
Awesome ! Lol
cool
awsome how cost this class
It was a free class
wow i wish we had something like that in europe !
I can't be the only one that followed the exercises, right?
Is Johnny Test off the air now? Haven't seen anything from CN in a while.
Yes, it's done. Sorry : (
it's still shown in the UK
James Arnold Taylor Damn, that's a shame. I used to love that show.
Any advice for someone who wants to do VO but is self concise?
Gotta practice putting yourself out there and not worrying about how you look or sound. It's all about the story telling and getting lost in it. You must lose those inhibitions and learn to enjoy your ability to tell story with your voice. I suggest to folks reading out loud whenever you can, get Dr. Seuss books and practice reading them out loud or find friends you can read to. Just know that your voice is an instrument and to play it you have to put it out there! Good luck! JAT
Your so cool, HAHAHAHA
Not necessarily related to this video per se, but my girlfriend and I met you at MegaCon earlier this year and we talked about the laugh and it being on purpose and how most people miss that. Just thought I'd drop this beautiful piece for you to enjoy. ruclips.net/video/sOzM4ClFG1o/видео.html
