This shovel is really an ingenius weapon. The design is not ideal for use as a combat melee blade but with proper technique it can be utterly devastating in melee combat. What makes it better than a tomahawk or sword is that it's easier to handle and learn techniques but it also doubles as a survival tool for constructing shelters and digging trenches obviously. The screws in the spade even give the option to replace with a longer handle.
Good video this proves the trench shovel as one of the best close quaters self defense weapon and survival tool, no one could take this guy down I hear Russians are good with these things
This is by far the perfect "zombie killer". When fighting a crowd of unarmed attackers, it functions brilliantly as a weapon for slashing, chopping, and as a blunt force clubbing tool. Absolutely perfect for braining a zombie. Decapitation. Limb removal/incapacitation. Spine splitting. And again, it can be used for shelter and fire construction.
@gruicix interesting to note. What is the roman word for sword? You have the word gladius but you also have the word spada. At least in spanish the word for sword is spada. In a pack of card the suit of spades is the suit of the swords in the tarot.A spade is a shovel with a point.
@TheNarath You are right - Germany was ahead of the world at WW2. And Russian rocket "Souyz" was copied * from German's R-2 or FAU. The one Gagarin traveled in space in 1958 (after deep modifications, for human persistence on board). But that happened 15 years later. Back than - R-2 Fau was designed as a first ever created trans-continental space-orbit nuclear-carrying bomb (aimed for London, originally, btw). I mean WTF! ))) There were some serious geniuses in Deutchland !
@TheNarath Copy means identical both in form, dimensions and design. Using same approach doesn't qualify as a copy. I don't deny German technical advancements, I merely state that being "first" doesn't make everyone else a copycat. Still, after encountering T-34 German Daimler-Benz proposed an identical copy as a response (it didn't see any production only due to technical difficulties of adapting assembly lines) Aircraft design was where Germans excelled. Their legacy still lives to this day.
@TheNarath "Copy" is the wrong word, since you could say everything that has wheels is a copy of a prehistoric chariot))) German experience was studied, no doubt, but what came even 5 years after the war was already way ahead of any tech Germans had. Besides, Russians got mostly German technicians, that were useful only for assembly knowledge, but knew nothing of alloys used, engine design, various auxiliary system specifics. It all had to be "decrypted" using own school of thought.
You don't stab a guy in the dick, that is not cool! Defeating the Enemy won't mean anything if we do it by going around stabbing people in the dick! :p great vid
@TheNarath Well. Not exactly. Screw the shovel. Look at the gunships and nuclear submarines. And Air Defense Systems... ADS was the first in the world "rocket, that will detect an airplane, chase it and destroy". I'm not trying to be an ass here, but s-300 ADS (made in mid 60's) detected and destroyed several U-2 and Stealth fighters. You're a bit disinformed, my friend. ;)
This is Russian Systema with special forces shovel , very good technique ......
Awesome video !!! thanks for the demo

Can't understand Russian, but I understand what the idea is. Thanks for this video guys!

excellent i use one of those al most every day, to dig holes.
The hook and grapple technique seems similar to medieval dagger fighting. Who'da thunk?
that shovel is as good as any sword or axe

Grandma didn’t stand a chance! Thanks Russian soldiers.
In the turkish army we dont use shovels or spatulas we use our fists.
SHOVEL KOMBAT!!!

@arose552000 brilliant my friend :D
@4spam2no tell him on battle :)
Playing the devil's advocate, I wouldn't worry, though, being hit with the world's slowest jab. How about a fast jab, huh?
@BoltFactor make a better one then
yep! introduced during WW2 russians used it firsthanden agains the German Wehrmacht!!

@Freki619 I really have nothing against stabbing someone anywhere if your life is threatened by them, just making a south park reference.
i would just whack enemies with it
i wouldnt punch someone with a shovel in his hand?
@TheNarath

киношники
Russia is so poor that they cannot afford a knife to use in combat
This is so stupid.
