I went ahead to read why Higan: Eruthyll has problems ( I don't play the game). From what I can understand, most people compliment the game has great animation, character design, fully voiced characters, and gameplay. However, the main issue seems to be that there is a power creep (you can't progress through story and it becomes extremely P2W). They say the game does not respect your time and your characters will always feel weak unless you whale.

Whenever I hear content creators yapping about "Genshin is dying" I look at the numbers and remember that less than 5% of the playerbase actually cares about all this drama while everyone else just enjoys the game
5% of 60m is very big,it's more like 0.0003%
the creators are all living with their tiny bubble of Genshin players on the social media. they will never recognise the 90% of the playerbase who does not care about endgame and rewards.
Most player are casuals,i don't know why it is so hard for hardcore players to realise.

Snowbreak got $3m this April.
They broke the code. And that's in mobile only when 70% of their revenue come from PC players.
going fanservice route always will be the code. Now they only need to satisfy the lore and gameplay people while maintaning the fanservice people

Aether Gazer has fan service with the jiggle physics, pits, and skimpy clothings but they fail to get more than $300-500k per month. Well, I blame it on AG's lack of branding. Like, the game has nothing that can makes the game unique and memorable. Ex. Girls with guns and butt jiggles, Nikke. The "uooogh" game, Blue Archive. The "furry" game, Arknights. That open-world Hoyo game, Genshin. That turn-based Hoyo game, Star Rail. That Action-based Hoyo game, Honkai Impact. AG doesn't have that. What else... Also Amazing Seasun's last game Girls Gun Cafe, there were fan service there but had an EoS after a year or two iirc and never gained much audience despite well-known JP VAs voicing the characters. That was because of lack of advertising. The code is different in every game. Snowbreak's code is fan service. Action game about Girls with guns in a post-apocalyptic world where you act like the commander who is active in the story is already a good premise. Just like Nikke. And I've already seen people enjoying the story and liking the characters.
@@suntzu4607 It's doesn't works with aether gazer since the competition in the genre is rather strict. Snowbreak had the advantage that it was the first of it's kind. When i first play it i really wish they doesnt stay in the middleground, either go full fanservice like Nikke and BD2 or goes conservative but cool design like Arknight. Now they need to make the character personality and story to be memorable since like you said the memorable factor is really high in retaining playerbase. After all fanservice can only goes so far.

Just to add a little context to HI3 and PGR's numbers.
HI3 kinda did a "soft reset" of the game by introducing Part 2 (brand new story, brand new characters etc.) so a lot of the players who played more than likely retired, like some of my friends. Along with this, the S Rank from last patch, Senadina, is the lynchpin to all Part 2 teams so a lot of players are just waiting for her return. In addition, there's been 4 consecutive S Ranks if I'm not mistaken so players have been really picky with their spending.
For PGR, we just came out of the Crimson Weave patch which lasted significantly longer (it was like 45 days) than the regular 30ish day patches. We're in a down period with it only being an A Rank patch which are farmable characters but the new S Rank 21 comes in about 5 days so we should see the number go back to normal. Plus, WW comes out this month :P

Yeah they give you the standard heroes for free but you cant progress without dupes.
Glad that epic7 and blue archive are pretty stable. War of the visions too got a slight increase. PGR pretty understandable since it's a A-rank/4star patch. Never expected AFK journey doing great, kinda happy about it. But damn, star rail and genshin still dominating, especially in the CN, CN have lots of whales huh.
Genshin's revenue doesn't include CN Android, PC, and Playstation. If you look at the most played games on Playstation for the month of April, you see Genshin in the top 18 and consistently competing against the big titles, which is impressive since the game is 4 years old. This data is an API pulled from Sony's server (it's featured on their official blog as well but only shows the top 10) and has a sample size of 3.1 million active PlayStation accounts. The game is at the top of the rankings on Epic Games Store as well and has high view counts on Twitch; currently, it has 9.3k views there.
So yeah, Genshin is big, so imagine all of its combined revenue. And yeah, mihoyo is a privately owned company so the profit is all theirs no shareholders breathing down their necks.
CN Android calculated to be 1.75x IOS revenue in China and that is included. Playstation and PC revenue is not included.

I’m really enjoying WW but nothing not even genshin is more important than Blue Archive, I enjoy it that much, in like the first month of playing it shot to the top of my list. It’s just so chill. And if I busy I can just sweep it but if I feel like trying stuff out it’s there. It has everything I’m looking for in a Gacha. yes genshin and a couple others have exploration but that’s not necessarily an itch I need scratched in a gotcha game. Even if I sink more time in the other games my wallet is with BA because they seem to respect me as a player. And it doesn’t help they always give me the kind of ending I want. It may be a twisted way there HI like that too) but the highs are so high in that game it’s great, by the end of the story I’m just bursting with emotions. I don’t know how but they really get me cheering for these girls! THAT is what I like! They put you right there with em it feels like I’m in the craziest cartoon ever and it’s awesome. Bravo. I’m a huge fan. And the gameplay feels right too. I do think the PVP AI needs work but I might be crazy because it feels like it improved a little recently. I mean it for sure needs work i might be crazy about the improved part it might just be a string of luck.
I started playing Counterside when it launched global, dropped it when I started playing Nikke at launch and got like 3 months in. Bummer it never really grew.
I need to play Snowbreak since they started turning it around.

Don't worry about tof, its mobile revenue is less than 15% of overall income, rest is pc. They released the annual report about that, 5% of income is Apple, means around 7-8% on Android, the rest is pc. It makes sense if you remember that the game is almost unplayable on mobile if you don't have a flagship device

The game is huge in jp, yes and it can compete in revenue with genshin and hsr jp only but outside they has almost no presence if you compare to those two giants.
Game under Yostar usually have massive success in jp because they had good ties with jp artist. They know how to market these game to jp audience and flooded the twitter with new character art the same day they announced them even sponsored doujinshi for the artist to sell them in comiket.

Reverse 1999 suffer from eternal savings... Every new patch in cn came with another good character, so everyone just save for them.
Also no one would spend on 1.5 banner, when the next patch came with the first limited character.

hmm i used to really like counterisde, the story and the characters were really cool. It did lose me tho with that collab they did with hololive and the 100$ skin they released (can't remember the name). But I didn't expect it to drop so low, damn..
Most Counterside expenders are on steam bc things are cheaper, so the game are actually doing pretty good, and sensortower only count mobile.
They also make 2 more hololive collabs after the first and they where less greedy than the first.

I think a big part of NIKKE revenue growth is thanks to Stellar Blade
i dont see how stellar blade contribute to NIKKE tho. cause if im not mistaken. the revenue is solely generated from NIKKE and nothing to do with stellar blade. if it is shift up then it make sense. nikke just had 1.5 annive and some great coomer skins.
