I’ve been playing a lot of Burnout Paradise lately and one thing that always bothered me was that the cars would continuously shift gears even at top speed. It’s a nitpick, but I appreciate Burnout 3 shifting gears up until max speed.

I had never played 3 but grew up playing Legends, so it's weird to learn that Legends is basically just a lower sound/visual quality version of 3. So it's like going back to Legends, but it's actually as good as I remember it. Because wow, the difference in quality is noticeable which I suppose is to be expected for the original PS2 version compared to its PSP port.
I only know 3 cars that has same type but their engine sounds are different. 1. Custom Compact is similar to Compact Type 1 2. Assassin Compact is similar to Compact Type 2, and 3. Compact Prototype is similar to Compact Type 3

Don't you think it's weird (and funny) that we control the cars in Burnout 3: Takedown as if they had automatic transmissions, but the way they sound when they shift gears sound like they are actually manual transmissions and not automatic? 🤔

you should try do the engine sounds of the ai, on some cars they actually sound different than the one the player drives (the most notable one can be heard on super type 1). You can have access to these sounds without a mod by playing split screen mode and operate the player 2 car

Should have a listen to some of the gear shift sounds in Split Second. Take the Ryback Tornado for example.

this game was originally supposed to have manual shifting but it was cut out
