Yes I understand thats what they say for several years but when there will be some market crisis you will not sell watches with 100+ years of history which can be owned by your children and still be iconic after a generation but you will sell overhyped super hot watch with no history and with highly uncertain future. At first it seems like micheal is just constantly one-upping him with their switch off watching showing. However , Michael is all about gaudy flamboyant and loud time pieces. Mr wonderful is a cold calculated investor. His collection is not over the top... at 3 milllion for his collection some people have that in one watch. However his choice of time pieces says so much about his refined taste all over the board. I guess based off his shark tank persona I woulda have assumed he’d strictly have the typical top famous watches and only those.

What can I say? Part 2 was mesmerizing! Michael always impressed me with his collection and knowledge of fine watches, and here is Kevin O'Leary (a fellow Canadian) who knows as much, if not more, than Michael. Can it get any better than these two guys and their hobby/obsession? I look forward to Part 3 ...and hopefully Part 4, and 5, and....? Dont agree with him. I am a high horology collector and polish why watches. You only dont polish your watches if you are super famous Paul newman etc) or that particular watch is a one of one or a famous watch. Like the original speedmaster moon watch that went to space that ed white wore. People are buying a piece of history, that watch went to the moon and had a dent or scratch by doing so. The ordinary piece is irrelevant. A piece owned by kevin is not going to reach more money if it was sold polished or not polished.
Agree with Richard only special or watches own by special people must keep it unpolish but I also agrees with Bryan on over polishing however it will be damn hard to over polish the modern rolex thick lugs.

I agree with Kevin O'Leary on privacy, insurance and inside job risks (15:20min). I had a horrible experience with an ADT salesman and his crew; my home was broken into right before the Installation Day of my security system. They knew what I wanted to secure; they knew my availability schedule for that week. I couldn't prove it, but my gut feeling said it was them. Ugh. Even for us little guys, we never can be too careful.

No matter how rich many "contemporary" collectors are, there's always odd holes in their knowledge... it's more driven by the marketing and less the heritage. I don't hold it against anyone, I would love to own watches of this value for sure, but as someone who appreciates the history more than all else, I always chuckle just a little.
Their knowledge is still better than some of the consultants working in watch boutiques, and both Kevin and Michael do not work in the watch industry, Roman Sharf is brilliant but he's central in the business of trading and selling watches.
Kevin O'Leary especially. He pontificates about Hulks and Kermits and Pepsis, but is dumbfounded when he is shown a gemset Rolex. Never heard about the leopard Daytona SACO, which was a bit of a celebrity... He comes across as somebody that only recently jumped aboard the hype train.
I agree, i was quite a bit surprised that Michael never heard of the 59.11... It's a bit confusing coming for someone who's allegedly big into watches. The release of that watch made quite a few waves..

No matter how rich many "contemporary" collectors are, there's always odd holes in their knowledge... it's more driven by the marketing and less the heritage. I don't hold it against anyone, I would love to own watches of this value for sure, but as someone who appreciates the history more than all else, I always chuckle just a little.
Their knowledge is still better than some of the consultants working in watch boutiques, and both Kevin and Michael do not work in the watch industry, Roman Sharf is brilliant but he's central in the business of trading and selling watches.
Kevin O'Leary especially. He pontificates about Hulks and Kermits and Pepsis, but is dumbfounded when he is shown a gemset Rolex. Never heard about the leopard Daytona SACO, which was a bit of a celebrity...
He comes across as somebody that only recently jumped aboard the hype train.
I agree, i was quite a bit surprised that Michael never heard of the 59.11... It's a bit confusing coming for someone who's allegedly big into watches. The release of that watch made quite a few waves..
