- We've noticed some unusual activity on your account. To help protect you from potential fraud or abuse, we've temporarily locked your account. We know this is frustrating, but we can help you get back into your account with just a few steps.
To unlock your account, you must enter a security code you receive via text message from Microsoft. The phone number you use to receive this text message doesn't need to be associated with your account. It doesn't even need to be your own phone number. If your phone doesn't receive text messages, ask a friend or family member if you can use theirs.
Follow these steps to unlock your account:
1. Go to account.microsoft.com and sign in to your locked account.
2. Enter a phone number to request a security code be sent to you via text message. This can be any phone that can receive text messages.
3. After the text arrives, enter the security code into the web page.
4. Change your password to complete the unlocking process. Use the tips in this link to create a strong password: support.microsoft.com/en-hk/h...

Malware, phishing, and other harmful activities
Microsoft forbids the use of our services for:
- Malware: Sending intentionally unwanted or harmful code or software.
- Phishing: Stealing private information from others by tricking or spoofing them into providing it.
- Interfering with, harming, or spoofing Microsoft networks, services, or other systems.
Spam
Spam takes many forms. Don’t use Microsoft networks to send, share, or publish unwanted emails, comments, messages, photos, reviews, or any other content.
Tips:
- Don’t send unsolicited promotional or commercial content.
- Don’t send content to people you don’t know or to many people at the same time.
Use of multiple accounts for abuse and other suspicious activity
- Don’t use programs, scripts, or bots to create Microsoft accounts.
- Don’t spoof or reuse information across multiple accounts when signing up.
- Don’t create or use multiple accounts to violate Microsoft policies.

I’m very disappointed in Microsoft services. I’ve been trying to get my Xbox account back for 4 months now after my account got hacked by someone who changed my profile picture to something that was inappropriate. I had nothing to do with it and I lost all my games progress. I’m completely innocent and I’m at a point now where I’m probably going to switch to PlayStation. Microsoft needs to step up their services and stop sending bots to help people as this is also affecting other innocent gamers.
My account was locked and they said ‘You entered a password wrongly many times’ BUT LIKE I DIDNT EVEN ENTER MY PASSWORD WRONGLY, AND WHEN I RESET MY ACCOUNT, THEY LOCKED MY ACCOUNT AGAIN.

There was no "Next" button for me. Filled out the compliance lock form, but no meaningful response from support. I am able to reset the password using account recovery forms, so I have set the password to the account, but still can't get past the compliance lock. (Yes, a bad person accessed my account using a SIM Swap attack, but I have already reset the password). I think the process flow is broken because the community is filled with people like me that can't get anywhere, and the nobody at Microsoft seems to have the authority to unsuspend an account. Someone at Microsoft needs to check the process flow chart against what is actually happening

Under no circumstances give your personal phone number to Microsoft. There is strong chance you will become a victim of fraudulent activity. Microsoft has absolutely no regard for security of your personal information. In the best of cases it is available to the highest bidder and taking into account well known microsoft security it is just there for anyone to take.

However, we hope you understand that all recovery options are blocked due to the account's two-step verification. For you to be able to recover the account, you need to verify your identity through your account security information.

@@MicrosoftCustomerSupport I understand that with the two-step verification every other option available for verification is blocked but isn't there at least something I could do to get it back since the outlook that im trying to recover is linked to my xbox account and I simply lost all of my purchases and progressions made with this account . That being said, an alternate option for you to be able to recover your account will be recovering the security information itself (old email and phone number).
