    I own the ruby and the j2k pro and if we are just measuring serves then I have to hold back using the j2k pro just to keep it on the back line. If it's any type of deflection, put away or drive shot then the j2k pro blows the ruby out of the water in terms of power. I ended up giving the j2k pro to my wife and she uses it as her main now over the pickleball apes energy line. It's a nice paddle but I would need a couple of weeks to dial it in

    Nice review. I have been playing with J2k Pro for at least 2 weeks now. Firstly I am coming from 6.0 DBD Paddle and it is a solid paddle. I was not able to find a Ruby and while waiting I came across J2k info. I decided to try it out as the price was too good to pass up. I have been playing for 3 months and the J2k Pro is awesome. The feel and playability of this paddle is great. I have had no control issues other then human mistakes. I love this paddle and can't wait for more weeks of play.

      @@TrashatFantasy With anything new there will be some adjustments that need to be made to your game. I played competitive tennis back 38 years ago so I feel I have some good hand control and feel. This has helped me adjust to whatever paddle I am playing with for my game. However the mechanics/techniques of my swing, keeping the ball in control with the proper amount of spin, etc is a skill I guess my old tennis days has helped me make the transition to whatever paddle. However the J2K Pro rocks as the feel and the pop is way better than the DBD by far.

    Loved my Ruby when I first got, ordered day one, felt like the spin fell off pretty quickly and had trouble getting serves and drives to dip. Actually sold it on ebay for $70 more than I paid for it....crazy. I feel like the DBD is a better option over the Ruby all around. After my experiecne with the Ruby, I am worried about these Kevlar paddles losing spin too qucikly, time will tell. I'd like to see a review of the 11six24 Hurache X if you got one on hand. Always love your reviews, and I've found that we have similar preferences/takes on paddles, which made it super easy for me to order a J2K based on your recommendation (using your code, of course). I'm coming from a Ruby, which is still my daily driver, but I've noticed the loss of spin and I'm curious to try another Kevlar paddle that has similar characteristics but maintains grit/spin better over time.
    Question: how similar is the J7K to the J2K in terms of power, pop, spin, swing weight, and twist weight? I have a twoey drive, drop, volley and even dink so a 6-inch handle is appealing. (That said, I've never had a problem doing these shots two-handed with the 5.5" handle of the Ruby, and I've heard some people say they get jammed up at the kitchen more with a 6-inch handle, e.g. with the Hurache Control X.)
    Also curious to see your comparison of the J2K with the new Thrive Azul!

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah I’ve been playing with the Azul a lot and it’s really nice. Very organic. Softer for me than other reviewers are saying it is. But tbh with the new Joolas and the Gearbox paddles everything feels kinda soft to me these days 😂. Yeah I think J7K is a great paddle if you already know you like something with a longer grip. It will have lower twist weight, a tighter sweet spot, slightly higher swing weight, but will have more pop, more power, and a longer handle so only you will know if that’s ideal for you 😊

    • @mrswitters1974
      @mrswitters1974 4 месяца назад +1

      @@stspickleball Thanks! I think I'll stick with the J2K. 5.5 is fine for my twoey with the Ruby so I'm sure it will be with the J2K as well. I like the combo of lower swing and higher twist weight and larger sweet spot of the J2K-not worth giving that up for 0.5" more handle and power/pop.
      I'm going to get a Joola Scorpeus Gen 3 for singles and to have a power paddle in the bag, so the J2K will be my all-court/doubles paddle.

    Great Review. I am torn between a few paddles and was hoping for you suggestion. I play the Six Zero Ruby and Six Zero infinity Black Diamond. I can generate plenty of power for ground strokes, but feel I need the most help in 3rd shot drops and backhand power at the kitchen. I am thinking about trying the Spartus Apollo due to the low swing weight and high twist rate. I have never played a shorter paddle like this though being only 15.9". Also I was thinking about the Honolulu J2K from your review here. Any suggestions which would be my best option? Also, where would you suggest to add lead tape if any is needed? I loved your lead tape suggestions for the Six Zero paddles you did. I am willing to give up my Ruby for one of these 2 paddles and thinking about retiring the infinity black diamond. I do like the swing weight of the infinity black diamond a lot. I feel the fastest with that paddle at the kitchen line which is something else I want in a paddle. Thanks and sorry about the book.

      Love the thought and everything you’re saying here. It sounds like you definitely want something quick at the kitchen as that seems like a top priority for you based on what you said. So I’d just make it easy and roll with the Apollo. I think you’ll find it will work very well for the things you’re looking for. If hand speed wasn’t such a priority and you wanted a touch more plow through while still maintaining some plush control aspects I’d go J2K.

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah I’ve tried them both. J2 is going to be a bit poppier and won’t have as plush of a feel off the face. And interestingly enough has less spin.

      @thm4811 2 месяца назад +1

      @@stspickleball interesting…I played with a J2 recently, and compared to my Apollo, it felt softer with less pop and power to me. I’ve never tried the J2K, and the Apollo is my only experience with Kevlar, so probably not a great apples to apples comparison since they’re different brands and shapes.
      Overall, do you think Kevlar is here to stay, and will it eventually overtake the carbon fiber market? To me, with it not seeming like a significant performance upgrade, and the durability concerns, it just seems like clever marketing to sell more paddles. The blue and red Kevlar paddles do look nice in a sea of carbon fiber paddles lol

    Mach 2 forza vs j2k….kevlar vs raw carbon fiber. Video?

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  4 месяца назад

      Not a great comparison overall given the Mach 2 is a wide body. Maybe a Mach 2 Forza vs Spartus Apollo.

    Nice video. I'll pass though because of the Bible verse at the top. Credit to the company for putting themselves out there in that way, but as a result, you'll get people like me who have no interest in that on my pickleball paddle. I'm sure they are proud of it but it will narrow their potential market

      Really, people are getting so ridiculously sensitive. I couldn't care less that there is biblical reference. I love freedom of speech and religion, so, carry on Honoluku, the J2K is an awesome paddle.
