A note from me. Yesterday, I was at a Wal-Mart and found the godzila r33 skyline. I figure it is hard to find. Anyways, a fellow collector liked it as I showed it to them. The looked the face was priceless and as result they earned it. It was handed over like that. The bonus was that he picked the mazda 323 gtr casting. I have had it on my list. He showed his but said a second one was on the pegs. He was nice and got it for me. After showing a new dump bin, I made his day. I only picked up 4 from the bin, but he was happy to find a lot of new new ones. Keep it friendly out there. It makes for a nicer day for everyone.
I build my collection strategy around automotive history. I am not interested in "chases" or RLC's, I am interested in the history of cars of the world. Maybe that is why I have no problems with scalpers. Guys, let's try find your own way in collecting..
I enjoy all your videos bud , negative people are always around they are only projecting their own thoughts. You keep doing you you are appreciated by the real collector community 👍✌️👊
Awesome haul and awesome tour of your diecast store congrats.👍 I got real super lucky this week i found a whole bunch of new N and P case basic cars, i found the second batch of the vintage racing club cars, i found the 1982 Toyota supra to complete the car culture world tour set and I got real super lucky yesterday at dollar tree hiding behind some other cars on the pegs i found the Volvo P1800 Gasser super treasure hunt.👍This is my 7th super treasure hunt i found out in the wild this year and this is my very first super treasure hunt that I ever found at dollar tree.👍So I had an awesome week of hot wheels hunting.👍
People paying $20 for $2 cars and a 20 cent piece of plastic and steel straight from the factory! Apologies for comments made a few weeks ago if u c this! I have a large 1/18 collection and the 1/64 stuff i have 1000s and boxed up in garage after getting the shits with the unlimited variations, editions etc, etc they even making cars that dont exist, which is funny.Love the 1/18 models , this also becomes an obsession and an addiction but still love it! Thanks mate from Sydney Australia, lots of collectors here.
As annoying as it is, I'd bet that it only makes the ones you DO find, and even nice mainlines as well, more valuable. The simple fact that there is even demand to fuel that behavior is proof of the added-on demand that it creates. Think back a couple years to Playstation 5s and what went on there. It's the dominant home console by far, and the new version they're releasing is near a thousand bucks, because THEY KNOW people will go in on it. PS5 resellers were insanely rampant, and it's not like everyone abandoned the platform/hobby entirely and went elsewhere, they did the compete opposite, it made them want it even more and and made them more invested in it once they did get it. Also some are saying that people are getting into it because they've simply heard about the value/opportunity in it and they seek to capitalize... sure that's true... BUT I'd strongly bet that a somewhat considerable portion of them BECOME collectors of HW as a result. They are really nice little toys and display pieces, above and beyond many other fad blind-box random little figures that are so common that get hyped and then quickly dropped for the next thing, and so once people are exposed to it after initially being drawn in by intent to resell, like I said I'd bet a lot of them take a liking to it and grow a collection of their own, which increases the market and demand and keeps the collecting hobby healthy, RATHER than in a state where people see things tanking and dump everything to get out asap which can quickly destroy a whole hobby, not just making people feel bad about what they put so much effort into, but then removing new demand which halts production of new models or lowers the effort put into them.
Gday phil relatively new collector myself been building my collection around gassers muscle jdm cars with my 16 yr old son who has autism great way to spend time with him both share this common interest thanks to Hotwheels my relationship with my son is now better than ever love the channel by the way very informative my son tells me keep it coming mate
Mr Phil you don’t have to explain yourself to people I’ve been watching for years we love your videos and I remember the video you did when you did the walk through of the store you work at I was jealous of the mini gt you guys have there I live in Kentucky there is no place to buy them here have to go online to get them. You do a great job keep it up
I’ve been grabbing a lot of the Small bloc as well as the new lotus racer both for wheel donors even though they aren’t premium. Those new wheels are very cool and high end looking.
Hi Phil, I’m a Hugh fan of yours and love your collection and videos. I’ve watched a lot of videos where complaining about scrappers is a thing, I normally stop watching at this point, but here’s the thing, my small input on the matter, we all need to move on and accept it’s part of the game. We will never change the situation, I am equally frustrated when I get to the pegs early and all the good stuff is gone already, I think store workers are mostly to blame to be honest but hey, I can’t change the situation so if I want a particular car I have to go to the market like everyone else and I am very poor but I love collecting Hotwheels. Like you I don’t watch peg hunting videos anymore Phil so I’m relying on you to keep the good stuff coming,….cheers 👍
there used to be a club back in the late 90s called the Southern Ontario Hot Wheels Club. Best ever newsletter with awesome info on new cars and how to collect etc. where is it now
New Sub.... Love your stuff..... I'm a collector for fast Hot Wheels....I like racing them down Hot Wheels track....I have found that some of the Faster Than Ever cars are not faster than ever lol..... I'm now on the hunt for the fastest mainline..... Keep up the great content
Those are Ford Anglia panel vans....this is a UK car and was known as the Ford e93 or the Fordson. A real favourite for UK hot rodders over the years. In my opinion this is one of the most underated castings in the HW range over the years.
That 2 pack that you found at Walmart, in the USA, it's a Target exclusive. Love the Vairy 8 casting, that's one that I would pick up multiples, back in the day. At the time, I didn't know it is an unlicensed Corvair.
Personally I love your videos overall, keep up the amazing work and keep on hunting. Guys I promise it's very simple, if you don't like this channel then move on elsewhere.
I keep my collection small, as it enables me to appreciate each of them to their finest details. I only have: 1. 1/18 (45 models all from 50s and 60s) - CMC, Autoart, Precision, Acme, Sunstar 2. 1/50 (20 models) - CCM, TWH, BYMO, Conrad, Diecast Masters, Sword, Drake Collectibles
Ok, let me see… I’d like say many things but my english si too bad 😢 Your store is amazing… and is your Job too!!! Wow that’s my dream 😊 I love your videos and enjoy a lot your comments. You knows so much about this hobby and you’re right about many things. Your collection is beautiful and I like when you’re unboxing the Premium cars. Please, I’m sorry because my english but send to you a big hug from Chile 🇨🇱🤗
Hello. I wish I could be as calm as yourself when describing the situation. As a new collector I find scalpers extremely annoying. My objective is to collect every new casting of the year. I'm personally not so interested in permutations. However it's difficult enough in the UK as our stores are nowhere near as well stocked as the states and Canada. So when I see the same four guys at my local stores buying 3 and 4 of the same casting , it absolutely boils my blood. Its nearly the end of the year and have about 20 gaps in my modest collection because of these guys greed. I open all mine. I don't buy pairs...I only buy one of each that I want and they all get opened. To me , I feel I'm enjoying the hobby as it was intended but I'll be dammed if I'm gonna have to resort to paying £20 quid for a £2 car just because of the gangsters out there. They have absolutely ruined the hobby. Love your videos 👍❤
MDC, I've commented on your videos before and I understand your frustration as you truly have been in this hobby for decades. The issue right now is that there are 'collectards' who have been priced out of sneakers, retro video games and in the past two years have jumped on die cast and other cheaper hobbies like action figures, trading cards, etc... Sneakers and retro video games can cost several hundreds of dollars so $30 on some mainline that's trending on socials is a drop in the bucket compared to the $300+ they would've paid for some Nike or retro video game that's not even fun to play. You have an extensive collection - wondering if you could do a showcase on a casting that's been around since the '60s and the changes over the decades.
Yea and doesn't help when you guys making videos and posts on Instagram on how to find valuable hot wheels and you can see in the comments guys who aren't even collectors taking the advice and buying this stuff
I’m relatively new to collecting hot wheels, and once I realized how quickly people picked through the mainlines, the th and sth’s, I didn’t even try. I’m only collecting rlc and kaido house now. Rlc because I’m a sucker for that paint, and kaido house because their attention to detail is on another level. Do I still check the mainlines out when I’m at a store? Yes. Do I ever find anything good? No.
Thank you for making this video. Yes it's crazy and stupid when people mark up mainlines so much. To me it ruins the hobby. That's partly why I don't collect Hotwheels.
I don’t even look for STHs anymore! I’m just after certain castings to customize! I watched a guy hit a new dumb bin and took ever R33 and GMC Syclone 🙄🙄 Bastard looks like Joe Dirt in his 50s…
Do you own the Batman Tumbler ? I have four, 2 in Cameo, 2 in Black..small and large this is my all time fav car followed close by the M3 BMW (Most Wanted) blue and silver... last the Delorean.
I get what you trying to say, pricing for these cars are insane lol. But there’s people out there are willing to pay that price to either complete there collection. It’s a scalpers market value 😂
I personally could not care LESS about Supers and Treasure Hunts and all of that. I prefer to collect whatever model catches my eye, has an emotional connection to me from races I have watched or cars I have owned, or are Teal, my favorite color or are a construction or emergency vehicle that I like. To me this deal of being pre-occupied with Treasure Hunts and all takes away from the sheer joy of the type of collecting I do. While I certainly support those that want to collect vehicles in that way, I just have zero interest in it. Also, since I work out of my home for the family printing business here in Las Vegas, I have many, many of my collection on the walls, most in the nice felt display cases you can get for around $20 from Amazon. Remember "real and decent" collectors either do NOT leave the Hot Wheels/Matchbox area in any store a mess when they leave and some of us spend just a few minutes cleaning up the mess left by bad collectors. Those of us that conduct ourselves in this way are the Jedi-Knights of the Hot Wheels collecting world. The others are Darth Vaders relatives!! LOL
Topical addition to my previous comments and perfectly illustrates what you have been talking about. The yellow Chevy Chevelle hasnt hit the shops in any volume over here in the UK. However ebay listings for this car have been around the £30 mark(US$42)!!😯 the same seller has listed many new 2024 mainlines in the £20-£25 (US$28-35). The surprising thing is that some people are buying at these prices....maybe not a scalper but taking advantage after laying their hands on a new case. This is in conflict with the fact thatHot Wheels mainlines are "pocket money" cars......this wont end well. A word on the yellow Chevelle...it is awesone in that colour....looks like a totally different car from the red version.
I know what your saying about the mainline . As an example i am after a matchbox ford fiesta xr2 They haven’t hit the uk yet . I noticed on eBay a UK seller put one up for £30 Bearing in mind the model itself is £2 I messaged the seller and asked if it was a mistake He replied no I basically said you’re having a laugh and good luck selling them . To my shock he sold them on the same day 😳 Crazy A lesson of the day is be patient because sooner or later the models you want will turn up . Phill i go to ask Behind you there is a sweet looking 50s car in black Is that a Cadillac Fleetwood? I know matchbox did one, but I was unaware that hot wheels did Could you tell me what line that is? Enjoying your video, thanks . Your job sounds amazing i am jealous 😂👍
We all know when a case is open which we want and which we don't want. Why doesn't Mattel know? Why does Mattel make an equal amount of each car in a case? They should know which car is popular and make more of those. I have about 150 cars. I look at Phil's collection and get the ones I want from eBay. I don't get every color of a car and I don't like mainline wheels so I mainly have RLCs and convention cars. Mattel should make more of the desired cars. Example, I saw a video of a Kaido House Civic EF. When I went to the Kaidohouse site, it was sold out. But the next day it was available again. That would never happen with RLC.
I have been thinking of liquidating my collection of carded HW's and was surprised to find the bottom has dropped out of the market, the only exception are the one off TH and STH I see for $100-200. I listed a bunch of cars on marketplace last week and only had reaction to the DeLorean ID and no one wanted to give me more than $15.
Don't let these dumbasses get to you man, you already doing it right. But hey, you said you wanted that smoke and I respect that too. I'm the same way with my channel. Good or bad comments, I still enjoy you putting dudes in their place either way haha.
I got lucky and finally found the Custom Van for the 56 Anniversary yesterday...the distribution on those have been terrible this year...not sure whats going on with those. But i made a video of that and found a Pajero Super t-hunt.
I was just going to mention this same thing. I don’t even care about the treasure hunts I’ve just been focusing on the mainlines but I can’t even find the cool mainlines anymore. No more Porsche or Nissan or Silverado trucks no super cars and no old muscle cars. All bullshit on the pegs everywhere!! I haven’t found any of the regular versions of the hunts anywhere. They’re scalping everything now. And they post videos of them having 20 of each but they don’t resell. Well wtf is the point of this? There’s no way to justify this other than greed!!!
Market value is only determined by somebody buying an item at the price offered. Unfortunately ebay has exacerbated the situation because when people looking for a particular item or are drawnnin to the hype, see several sellers listing an item for premium prices in the same ball-park then those potential buyers believe that these prices are what they are worth.....and hit the BIN price. Scalper wins....buyer gets shafted. On prices, I am based in the UK. The retail price for a mainline is £1.60 -£2.00 each....a TH will be listed for £15 -£20.....a STH can be anything from £50 to £100 for a nice casting or JDM. These prices are pounds sterling....multiply these prices by your USD or CAD exchange rate and the 1000% mark up works out a lot more.
But if you find a super hunt, that means you also found the mainline version of it. I've never found a super and not been able to get the basic version at the same store. And maybe your area is much different than mine down here in the states, but nobody here is selling basic versions of supers for 20 bucks, Most of the mainline versions of a super are peg warmers, with the exception of some JDM cars. But even that blue Nissan you held up is easily found at local shows and flea markets for $3 or less.
Here they are hunted and sold expensive, and I have found many supers without the mainline version. I found 4 super skylines once and no mainline versions.
I have set a limit on what I am willing to pay for a STH, no more than 25-30. An RLC is about 25 and I can get a kaido house for 15 to 25. I am not trying to help someone buy a real hot wheel for their garage.🙂

Love your content. I love collecting, I'm never lucky but I still try. And keep on ranting, it's 100% true
Thank you someone is finally talking about the scalpers taking the 180sx I see them all over Facebook it's insane
I enjoy all your videos bud , negative people are always around they are only projecting their own thoughts. You keep doing you you are appreciated by the real collector community 👍✌️👊
Мужик, ты все правильно говоришь! Не обращай внимания на негатив! Это пишут Scalpers и конкуренты! Мне нравятся твои видео❤️
Great collection you have there

Keep telling the truth, don’t pay attention to the idiots that leaving bad comments.
The 1/18 models look great
I also collect minichamps / autoart and CMC
That looks like a cool model shop 😊
Down fall of collecting diecast was chase cars of any brand
Chase anything has destroyed most all collectibles. Collecting has become a scam as creeps attempt to get rich on a few items.

Hi 👋
Just right now I’m watching your new video about “Awsome HotWheels finds today” 🙂

Yea the airy eight is a Chevy Corvair custom.
I got lucky and finally found the Custom Van for the 56 Anniversary yesterday...the distribution on those have been terrible this year...not sure whats going on with those. But i made a video of that and found a Pajero Super t-hunt.
Nice
I was just going to mention this same thing. I don’t even care about the treasure hunts I’ve just been focusing on the mainlines but I can’t even find the cool mainlines anymore. No more Porsche or Nissan or Silverado trucks no super cars and no old muscle cars. All bullshit on the pegs everywhere!! I haven’t found any of the regular versions of the hunts anywhere. They’re scalping everything now. And they post videos of them having 20 of each but they don’t resell. Well wtf is the point of this? There’s no way to justify this other than greed!!!
Yes they are scalping and stealing everything. You can’t even enjoy the hobby anymore. You’re telling the truth.
Yup hoarding...I saw a guy posting he had 10 Hondas, 8 Skylines and 12 of another car. That's just ridiculous when you can't even find a mainline
Nissan 180SX is a classic world car. Which is more popular than any American car.
I am not so sure about that
Shipping and eBay cost are crazy
They are killer
Didn’t know N Case came to Montreal
Yes just hitting now
I have set a limit on what I am willing to pay for a STH, no more than 25-30. An RLC is about 25 and I can get a kaido house for 15 to 25. I am not trying to help someone buy a real hot wheel for their garage.🙂
DRIVE around every day and buy fuel. 😂
Reminds me of RV videos that give every detail about toilet. 😂
You literally take the words out of mouth all the time with how you explain about scalpers
What a bunch of wimps who complain
lol
No matter where you go in store most of the time there's not much on the pegs it's really distressing that scalpers do this it's disgusting 🤬
