Yes, I lived in northern Manitoba for years and would see them often, but usually just the greens, sometimes with a bit of purple in there.
The most vivid and colourful that I saw them was the year before I left for the north in my hometown which would rarely get them as it is much further south.
There must've been solar flares going on at that time as it was this year.
Sadly, everyone enjoys the spectacular colours at night and it is indeed a privilege at that latitude to see them, but no-one is told WHY they are presenting, in colours of red and purple. Yes, it means the geomagnetic storm is in high level atmosphere, but what they won't tell you is that our magnetosphere has thinned 25% less, and the mild x-flares responsible for this, should never get this strong at this latitude. I doubt anybody cares of course, but when it gets worse (if it keeps thinning 5% every 5-10 years), earth is in big trouble and it will become our worst nightmare. Sorry to be a drag, but I do love your excitement. I just know it is a warning sign for cosmologists. Stay well guys.

Yes, the chance to see these lights doesn't come often, but it's even more beautiful and I'm so happy that you saw it.

Depends entirely on were a person lives. In the northern latitudes the show happens quite frequently. Here in Montana,,maybe 3 times a year

Hi Jamie and sherpa yes they are super we watched them for two nights they were amazing !! my Dad told me all about them in his young life he travelled to canada with my mum just after they got married and they only stayed for a short while before they had any family , but he told me all about them when i was a child . so it was so nice to remember back to his stories , of course he passed away many years ago so it brought back special memories.

We didn’t get the lights here but loads of my friends around the country got videos and pictures. They were lovely.

If it makes you feel any better we should be getting even stronger northern lights around the same time period next year according to a science channel I was watching a couple of days ago. Basically there's a sunspot that's throwing out a bunch of mass that peaks in intensity over a 22 year cycle and we're at the peak of it right now, the orbits lined up so that we'd be hit by it this year, and next year we should be hit by it again around the same kind of time but the mass ejection should be even more energetic.

That view happens once in a lifetime ...you are so lucky .....they could be seen over the Kempston, Bedford skies ..but i missed it ....... I remember my late 96yo mum telling us she saw them from Enfield ..she had dementia ..so we agreed with her ..of course .....

Sherpie bless him with his back legs and he does so well for 13. It has been my dream to see the Northern Lights and when we had them 2 plus weeks ago I was in hospital in pain and still on going with a CT scan this week! You were lucky to see them this well. What a memory to treasure in beautiful Cornwall.❤
The northern lights were amazingly beautiful. Sherpa was so hungry at the beginning that he gobbled his food and didn’t really care about the sky and it’s colors
I didn't know about this so I missed them. 😞 What makes it worse if that I was awake that night because my illnesses were playing up and I looked out the window at about 1am but didn't notice anything 🤷 probably because I didn't look through the camera. 🫣 I could have crossed it off my bucket list.... So thank you for sharing this amazing sight! What a privilege for you both. It takes my breath away. Hugs and belly rubs! 🐾🐾❤️

Sherpa looks and acted a little more like his old self in this video. He seemed to be moving more fluidly too; except when his rear legs stumbled going over the door threshold for dinner. I am delighted to see him like this. I have never seen the northern lights and I want to thank you for filming it. The colors in the night sky were breathtaking!!
